  1. I have some feedback the next time then, I wrote some down but couldn't finish it in one sitting. Assuming the window keeps open long enough --Eino
  2. Super cool source. Ulgh, I really don't have the time.. --Eino
  3. I'm enjoying this! To my standards production seems lush, balanced and solid. I like the NESsy snare. There's plenty of reinterpretation of the source in the arrangement as well. The structure seems sound and the piece flows well. The watery sound ideas don't push themselves but are more subtle, which I like. If you didn't point them out, I might not have noticed the theme, but would still have thought that the overall sound was very appropriate for Bubble Man. Really good stuff, definitely submit it to OCR once you're done! --Eino
  4. Well, couldn't hear any clashing with a closer listen. The production is indeed solid. Only crits I have would be that the leads that carry the source (say 0:52-01:17) tend to be quiet in comparison to beat+bass. But that might be genre appropriate. Towards 2:00 the other lead sounds brings it more to the fore nicely. Additionally, I thought the "I got the power" sample was funny and appropriate, but still a bit too cheesy (and familiar) to really enjoy. Overall good work, I really liked the energy of the beat+bass. --Eino
  5. Very solid stuff. The beat is dark, gritty, but also bouncy and fun. Lots of great sounds & atmospheres throughout the track & some stutterific sequencing. I like the past-midpoint changeup too - it shook up the track & boosted it with fresh energy! Refreshing to listen to! --Eino
  6. Voted! It was cool to see this many mixes appear. Thanks everyone! --Eino
  7. Your stuff always sounds so cool. Too bad I don't have Kontakt or Reason. $15 isn't bad for a fun-sounding library! --Eino
  8. That sounded quite cool on a quick listen. Nice variation on intensity between parts! Multitracking of the piano reminds me of some minimalist multi-piano pieces. I hope I can give this a closer listen soon. --Eino
  9. From a quick listen, sounds quite solid on production, and the track has nice flow & drive. It sounded like there was some weird clashing notes in a couple of places, but I'll need to give it another, closer listen to be sure. --Eino
  10. I'd like to take a listen, but it's not there! --Eino
  11. Ok, just tiny tiny tweaks. A candidate for resub here. Going to send this back to panel soon, so get those final comments in! (: edit: Resubmitted after tiny bit of filter automation changes to one particular lead, here's the MP3 and the Renoise project file. --Eino
  12. I'm required by the forum software to add text here, although it is quite unnecessary. --Eino
  13. Paring this down to a more manageable scope sounds very good. Good luck! --Eino
  14. Aaaand purchased. You know, you're entitled (by your remixer status) to post this to Community for more exposure. --Eino
  15. My UNATCO arrangement from Deus Ex came back from the panel with some good feedback in the spring. Now I've got a new, extended WIP in the Workshop, fairly close to resubmission I think. --Eino
  16. The material sounds like the source to me! FWIW I thought the source had some icky moments, where there was a background melody that was at times kind of aimless and seemed to not support the rest of the writing. I didn't hear that in this arrangement, which is a plus. (: The harmonies.. harmonic progression.. whatever.. is a bit unusual, but I didn't hear it in a bad way. Production-wise, the loud bits are really, really loud. It also sounds very dry, not like instruments played in the same room. I suppose the "playing" of the instruments sounds quite mechanical too. I've never arranged orchestral stuff, so I can't really give any insights what to do. Despite these criticisms, I quite enjoyed listening to your arrangement! I've played Columns on a Master System and recall liking the music. Frankly I personally like the MS version of the source better than the Genesis version. (: --Eino
  17. Thanks! So here it is: Newest wip here Pretty close to resubbing. * extended middle part * lotsa other small tweaks Concerns: how's the bass (too much bass?), how's the "mastering" (clipping/pumping/discomfort?), how does the extended middle work? --Eino
  18. I did think "how silly that looks (I love it)" at first, this thread being the first time I hear of this thing.. I actually thought that it looks like a toy but didn't manage to think that it is for the kids. Anyway, I do want to get a 3DS eventually so I'll probably get this.. durability sounds good, we already play on the old DS with my little daughter. But yeah, I have no problem getting this basically for myself. edit: Assuming it comes to Europe some time.. --Eino
  19. Well, sounds like a sound idea! --Eino
  20. Now, where's that bandcamp release? --Eino
  21. Previewing right now, sounding good! I like many of your VGM tracks, and was thinking it would be great to hear something new from you. I'll get this tomorrow! --Eino
  22. So they're trying to make me do a resub, they said NO, NO, NO Decision thread here (very supportive, that's always nice!) I got a good, diverse list of crits that I've mostly addressed: * leads/support clashing, which is hopefully addressed up to the final 3/4 part * layered the lone crash cymbal with more * eased on the reverb a bit * worked on the bass end of mixing (the end was super muddy) * simplified the overly busy drumming in the end of the middle section (though the toms are still too busy) I also overall finetuned the mixing, and I hope I'm not draining the life out of it. Liontamer also criticized the lead sounds for being simple, though Nutritious said it fits in genre context. I might spice them up a bit, but not too much. I still want to use these oldschool trackermusic samples you know. (: Vig also criticized too much screwing with the tempo, which alongside his "overbusy beat" crit is making me consider extending the middle section with a bit of four-to-the-floor beat. edit: There's also some great feedback in this thread that I'll read over again. Here's a current WIP Soo, I'll look at the toms at the end of the middle section, then work on the mixing for the outro, and then perhaps see if I can come up with an extension to the middle part. Stay tuned! --Eino
  23. Wow, I missed this thread before. I think this is pretty cool to offer as a resource, plus the idea of a vocal OCR album sounds like a good one to me. --Eino
