Sorry, missed ya in the thread - great to have a female voice in the choir. I included you in the conversation, so hope to hear from you, too. :)

  2. Pichu's Dad, more like smart pikachu, amirite.

    1. SirCorn

      SirCorn

      That's most likely correct.

  3. Aaaah Sockpuppet's online!

    'Sup.

  4. *Waves you down* Hey, I'll help ya with your RWtS thing. We'll rock the town, Reason-style. :)

  5. Just letting you know your review is in the thread - I edited my prior post yesterday, so the thread won't be bumped by it. Just in case you thought I forgot about you :)

  6. My apologies! My inbox had a few messages cleared, so go ahead and PM me!

  7. Old one fried (fortunately my HD is fine, I think), so I've been computerless for a month. Getting a new one built after New Years, but I still have a backlog that I need to finish quickly. Alas.

Best of luck with the compo, though!

  8. Mmm, I saw the competition, and I wohld love to participate... but I don't have the hardware to get through it, atm (and when I do get the hardware, I'll need to spend that time on other things). It's damn tempting, but I'll need to pass on it this time around. I'll be watching from the sidelines, this time, and catch you when you run this the next time around!

Looking forward to the music, though!

  9. Sorry, message box was full. You can send a message now. :P

  10. Heh, thanks for the offer. I don't think I'll be able to contribute to that project, though, simply due to a combination of lack of time and lack of familiarity to the sources. Wish I could contribute, but no luck, this time around.

  11. Haha, yeah. Haven't forgot about it - it still is quite awesome, to my ear. I've been touching it up here and there, giving it a more bassy sound and working out the dub section so it sounded more... dubby. I'll submit it sometime in a month or two, I assure you.

  12. Sorry, man - been away for a little while, and probably will be for the next week, too. I'll get back with you when I can.

  13. Gotta say, good timing, when you came on, there. I've got to go to work, so best of luck!

  14. Hey there, partner! :P

I like "find your way", personally. Send me some of your ideas via PM and I'll see how I can help. :)

  15. Hey man, happy birthday!

Nice work on Jenova, too - it was really quite catchy :)

  16. Oh hey, it's your birthday, and you have no thread. Happy birthday, Dave.

  17. Nice fundraiser for a FF6 album, eh? Speaking of which, how's your FF6 album going?

I could participate with a Floating Island arrangement, if you're open to it.

  18. It has been delayed multiple times, but it's still moving. The information is a little bit old (OA agreed to help me out on it some time ago with the choir, but was forced to move on since then). I would love to have you on board, though - what parts were you responsible for singing?

  19. Ooo, I like what you did with those changes. Yeah, that's what that last section needed, there.

Not much else that I can add to this one - it's sounding quite good, to me. Good luck, and thanks for the b-day wishes! :)

  20. Sorry I can't be any more specific than that, but there are things where it's purely an artistic choice. I can give suggestions, but as far as exactly where to add these things you'll just need to experiment and play it by ear.

Just sprinkle a few in your last section - it won't take very many decorations to keep it distinct enough from the first section. Best of luck with it.

  21. Hmm, that's an area that I can't tell you too much more detail on. For me, it's really a 'feel' sort of thing. Personally, I like to add the decorations to accents in a melody line - peaks and valleys are great places to make variations to, for example, as well as notes that land on the beat. Everyone is different, though.

When it comes to decoration, there's almost no wrong way to do it. You say you don't see where it could fit, but in reality decorations are, by design, able to fit anywhere - because they're 100% cosmetic and not structural, there's no way to put it 'in the wrong spot'. If you're completely unable to find a place to insert the decorations then 'drop the needle' somewhere in the third section of your track and add a decoration in a random spot, see if it works. If so, great, if not then simply undo the action and try another spot. Or try some of the suggested places that I mentioned.

  22. Very nice work on your first post, man. It's mighty sexy stuff.

  23. Thanks for the comments, they made good sense - I believe you were right about the panning. When the compo is over I'll be sure to get those sounds fixed.

  24. Haha, I noticed your message on DjP's visitor's board. Not sure if he answered it for you or not, but the short of it is that this isn't a site where you upload music. You submit the music in question and a panel of judges do a quality control evaluation of the track (which is very stringent, by the way). If the song passes the examination, then it goes on a waiting list for music to be posted on the front page.

It's a pretty long process, but it's for the sake of quality control - hopefully it's for the best. If you want evaluation before submitting, though (saves time, as getting to the panel takes months, in itself) you can post your remix to the WIP boards where people like myself will let you know what the judges will say about it.

    Best of luck.
