  1. Its looking like that Xponent is a decent choice. Its certainly better than what I run now, and will be good enough for what I do I think. Anything more would be too hard on my wallet and too much to learn with the limited time I have. Thanks guys.
  2. This track was my entry to the 2009 Freshly Baked Remix Competition. I have only made a few complete remixes, this one came together the fastest. Of all the tracks I have worked on, this one probably needs the least amount of attention before I send it to the judges. I want to get a real polished mix together, but as I have never carried a mix too much farther than this point, I'm looking for some feedback. What does this track need to become an OCRemix? Its up at FBRC2009 on thasauce, scroll down a bit to find Chocobongo!! by Biznut. Thanks in advance.
  3. Compo was the high point of my week, but something ALWAYS comes up that I can't do it. rrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaugh!
  4. Thanks all, those are some great suggestions, definitely what I am looking for. I'll investigate further tonight, but these are some exciting prospects. SO much cooler than what I am using now, in a totally new league... Again, thanks!
  5. I'll vote, good luck guys. I'm in class so I can't listen yet, but I must say I am stoked to hear what you guys come up with!
  6. I know a perfect track for this, I bust the ost version out ever winter cause its so Christmassy (?) as is. I'll give it a shot for sure! Btw, Super Mario's Sleigh Ride is an absolutely essential Christmas tune. Its Mario, its Christmas; Its 120% excellenticity. I cannot say enough about how awesome that mix is, If anything even half as cool is born from this project, it will be a runaway success.
  7. I own a DJ company and take care of sound/music for weddings and what not. So far all I have had to use is PCDJ/VJ, a very simple program. So really, I haven't done much REAL Djing. That is about to change. A coworker of mine wants me to start spinning in a club he bounces at, and he wants me to do a rave party he is trying to put together. On top of this, I am also responsible for a big Christmas Bash, and would like to actually spin for that too. This has been a bit of a dream of mine. I am pumped for these opportunities, but I don't have any access to equipment. I have a good laptop and I have experience with Deckadance, but I don't have experience with actual tables. SO! What do I need to be looking at for tables? What about software? I have never used Serato Scratch before, but I have heard lots of good things about it. Any direction would be appreciated! Thanks
  8. I live way the hell up north in Canada, a 17 hour drive north east from Seattle. The biggest city for 5 hours is Grande Prairie, population of 65,000. Basically no one I have ever met has been as into VGmusic or this site as I am. I was in Edmonton once time and saw a kid with an OCR shirt, and I almost caused a scene I got so excited. Rarely, oh so rarely, do I meet anyone who has ever heard of this site before, let alone is involved. When I finally make it to a meet-up, I am just going to be so pumped to finally connect that doing anything to break trust won't even enter my mind. That might have been part of it for the rest of you too, kinda sounded like the case in Taucer's experiences. You finally connect with these people you have so much in common with, and everyones just gets caught up in it, so nobody is a jackass.
  9. Alright. TOTALLY loved this mix guys, a lot of fun, had me moving for sure! I do need to say that lots of the rhythm guitar and percussion sounds a lot like . A lot. I recognized it almost immediately. The most identifiable parts are at ~2:00 and again at ~2:20. I really like The Dark Ride, it's an awesome song, and to hear the same stuff here really makes this an enjoyable remix. I didn't see any mention of The Dark Ride anywhere, I do think if it was borrowed from, it should be mentioned somewhere.Other than that recommendation, I got two thumbs up. Excellent work on this song!
  10. Interesting. I see the natural connections, but I don't think the qualities of Fight Club and Calvin and Hobbes are exclusive enough to say something so bold as Calvin is Jack. I would say that Calvin and Hobbes and Fight Club share comparable qualities, (which were outlined decently in this article) but I wouldn't sensationalize it quite so much or at all. Similarities exist, not much more.
  11. Ispired by the OCRemix on ipod thread. Reading that thread reminded me that once every 4 months for the past 2 and a half years I spend about 5 hours trying to find something along these lines and then give up. I know that for pre 5th gen Ipods you could install Rockbox or something on your ipod and get a player for NSF files, etc. I am not interested in that, I would like an app or something for my ipod touch. I do understand I can just get mp3's, I have many of them. I want the file size convenience that nsf and other similar files offers. Greedy, I know. I have searched google extensively, so I guess this is kind of my last kick at the can before letting it go for another 4 months, lol. Anyone got anything on this?
  12. I was about to suggest the podcast thing too, but in the end it is better if people come here to get it, great comment DarkeSword.
  13. FL9 demo, that is a fine achievement indeed Zircon. Jill, great vocals on that song, as per usual. Right on!
  14. I agree. I would throw it out there that Sega could be saying "speed-based" simply because "platform based" wouldn't market as well, even though that would be a more accurate description of this new game. The fact that its 2D practically guarantees it to be a platformer in my mind, which is good. And as for the speed: the Sonic games were platformer games, but Sonic himself was always touted to be fast, and he was. If this is a 2D platformer with a bitchingly fast Sonic, I am VERY interested.
  15. Google Maps tells me I will have to drive 4361km (thats 2710 miles) to make that party. If I leave tomorrow....lol. Geez! Soooooo far away! I am pretty sure nobody on OCR lives farther north than I do, at least in North America anyway. That will be a wicked party, would have loved to be there, maybe someday I'll make it to a meetup of some sort somewhere. Probably PAX next year...
  16. Oh, and I spent several hours over the last few days watching my roommate play Carnage...I mean Prototype. You should check that one out too, looked pretty badass to me.
  17. I agree with most of this statement. I played resistance 1 and really got into it, it really hooked me for a while. I loved the narration between levels, I thought that enhanced the game experience a lot. It was mysterious and ominous and interesting. I would say Resistance 1 was a very good game. As far as the second Resistance, there are much better options out there...like figuring out Disgaea 3, lol.
  18. and by "I certainly do" I mean that I certainly like your tunes, not I certainly do get tired of people telling me they like my work... well not yet anyway :

  19. Hey Jordan, Kaleb, aka Biznut on these forums...Do you ever get tired of people saying how much they like your work? I certainly do, its very inspiring... Anyway, glad to hear you got more stuff coming up, and that your health is improved. If you don't got your health, well, you know what they say!

  20. If Im visually impaired does that improve my chances? Or do I absolutely have to be blind?
