Experiments with Sleep (and its Deprivation)
SoulinEther replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
How would breastfeeding help me? Being able to tackle problems and stuff in my dream would be massively beneficial to me in my grand scheme to take control of the world. Lol. -

OCR01843 - Civilization IV "Destined for Greatness"
SoulinEther replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I would kill for those vocals in the heavier section! It's amazing, stunning all around, digging it left, right and center, and my own voice will just have to do lol. -
Those 6 bpm helped, I think. At 1:15, the synth playing the third part of the melody is getting heavily drowned out/overpowered by the drums. Or maybe it's just not loud enough for me in general. I think my main gripe is that nothing gets really distinctively loud. Except like at 2:00 when all those instruments are doubling/tripling each other. Oh, really like the reference in the bg at ~2:30-2:40 of the ending of the initial melody (duh, dum, duh duh dum!). Still, it's not really able to keep my interest. With regards to that, consider playing around with the form of your song. Most of what you have going on is the metalman song coming in and out. It doesn't seem to go anywhere else, maybe it strikes me as rambling? I like it though. You've made some slick additions and changes to the original piece that work well, imo.

OCR01842 - Doom II "Icon of Sinwave"
SoulinEther replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The first part was cathartic(!). Second part I'm not as fond of but it's also good. I noted the consistency of some sound effects, which helped link the two movements together (..well, movement might be a bit too strong). -

Experiments with Sleep (and its Deprivation)
SoulinEther replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
Well, I got 3.5 hours of sleep last night and today I walked alllllllllllllllllllllllll over UCLA and Westwood for about 2 hours. I'm so dead. Am I going to die a young man? I'm realllly....... out of it. I was fine driving home and stuff but now that I'm more relaxed at home I'm going loco. I have a debate to write sometime between now and tomorrow so..............................................................yay. -

Guys i wrote a song about flying sperm instead of sleeping for the past hour..... I have class in 5. I can just say it's an experiment in sleep deprivation, right? -
Experiments with Sleep (and its Deprivation)
SoulinEther replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
So far, everybody who has mentioned sleep paralysis has talked about it during their waking stage. That's interesting: I've never experienced it while waking. And I've never been able to fall asleep through one either. I guess the crushed, not-being-able-to-move, attack of a voice becoming increasingly loud and increasingly quiet accompanied by a slight ringing is too stressful to ignore. Damn fight or flight. Apparently you can easily enter a lucid dreaming state from sleep paralysis because you know you're asleep...... oh well, not for me I guess. Here's to hoping I didn't derail a thread -
Experiments with Sleep (and its Deprivation)
SoulinEther replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
Generally.... no? I have had experiences where a concept or the remembrance of an event/mistake I've made has nagged me over and over, but usually while I'm fully awake. -
Experiments with Sleep (and its Deprivation)
SoulinEther replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
Whenever I'm deprived of sleep and immediately go to bed from finishing up some project I'm working on or writing something (basically from really high mental stimulation while tired to complete rest), I suffer really bad fits of sleep paralysis over and over but can't sleep. I have to get up and walk around for a bit before I can actually fall asleep. -
"ReMixing" renamed to "Workshop"
SoulinEther replied to djpretzel's topic in Music Composition & Production
Whatever, I'll get used to it. (apathy is the worst criticism though, lol) -
Do tell: have you found any good books/writings on this particular subject? Does Robbins address this issue head-on in any of the books you've mentioned?Maybe I should look into self-help, too. It's good that it's having an impact on you and I hope you can make the critical first step into changing yourself (where, in truth, I have constantly failed). Maybe it'll motivate me to get off my ass and take me where I want to be. (maybe tomorrow. :/)

You mean FJC? Cool. I pass by there from Buena Park on my way to school if I take the bus... strongly contemplated summer school there... but I'm deciding against busying myself with more classes. My friend raves about their music program... and his brother is jazz king there apparently, lol. And I didn't mean to imply only remixers. There have to be more people in this general area that browse the forums, etc. I'll rephrase the title a bit I think lol.

RC Pro Am - Rock with Vocals
SoulinEther replied to Ghetto Lee Lewis's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I promise that I'll give this one a listen. RC Pro-Am brings back memories from ....wow... so long ago. I'll probably have a nostalgic moment. But I gotta finish some things first. edit: wow, now give me like a day to formulate an opinion on this, lol. -
Alright, I saw somebody walking into SGMH today with a black OCR t-shirt at Cal State Fullerton.. which leads to my next question... how alone am I here? Where are all the Orange County/CSUF people?Do alternative lifeforms exist, ones that resonate between the shape of a pretzel and that of a G clef..? Or if this thread is totally out of place, feel free to put it where you think it belongs. I just wouldn't mind some closure.

2009/09/26 -Small Update- Sonic (GG) Bridge Zone remix
SoulinEther replied to Tarnish's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I think the intro is pretty cool, honestly, maybe you could consider making a reference to it later on in the piece (maybe changing it slightly as a way of transitioning out of the breakdown?). No need to put yourself down. You don't have to be your own (absolute) worst critic, lol. This thing has come a long way from the first version (and your first more-full-length version, too). -

Well, there aren't any tigers around, therefore, $138 well spent. Don't think a nintendo DS would do the same. No sir.
