  1. The wildlife and nature sounds set this apart from the other Waterfall ReMixes on the same album, and sounds oddly peaceful and almost like a waterfall’s base, giving off a picture of beautiful sights, rather than the dangerous cliffs that lie higher above. Truly a gorgeous ReMix.
  2. Holy crap it's finally on the OCR front page! I'm beyond happy see this legendary ReMix from DoD days past here, it sounds better than ever thanks to the reworking and remastering of it. To say that this is anything less than a classic would be a shame. I love the ska section in the Kakariko Village part, the chilling church part and the work that went into the Dungeons, Ganon and the Hyrule Castle. Even the transitions back and forth between the dark world and the fairies was a nice touch that I gotta note. Cool to see how much this has been improved and even though I loved the original, this is really awesome. If you're a Zelda fan, especially of Link to the Past, there is no reason not to download this. So freaking recommended.
  3. Man, I'd love to say something different, but it's been pretty much summed up by others. Samples are weak, the arrangement doesn't offer a whole lot that hasn't been done with Tetris before and the clapping.........way to much clapping. Sorry, not a fan of this one.
  4. Nice to see this one hold up better than other ReMixes. Probably just me, but the only issue I have here is that the synth is one notch too sharp for me at first, but after that it's not quiet that bad. Other than that minor point (which is, again, just me) this is a decent mix with a good beat.
  5. Shame that the sample age and usual weaknesses of older ReMixes shows up here. The arrangement notation has a good direction and I am getting an MMX fortress vibe out of it, so it has at least that much going for it.
  6. That's an incredibly sexy sax we have going on in this ReMix. Honestly, I liked the piano myself, but I could understand where the judges were coming from with their critiques. Matter of taste, I guess. For a source (or two, or an entire game for that matter) that has been done an awful lot, it's still great to hear a nice, new arrangement from other ReMixers. Good stuff, guys.
  7. Oh man that sax worked so well in this one. Not a bad ReMix at all, and the inclusion of the Flav sample as well as switching up the styles as the mix went along definitely justified turning a short source into a four minute song. Nice work.
  8. Title pretty much says it all. There's a lot of heavy rawk in this one and it hits with a lot of force. Pretty good stuff from DusK.
  9. Okay, so hearing the other version on his actual site, I can at least retract several comments I would have made about the loud hissing noises, a couple (not all, but some) off-key notes in the organ and guitar and it does sound better there than in the preview here. It's not night and day, but it's immensely more tolerable on his actual site to say the least. Not really digging the fade-out ending, and not because it's a fade-out, but because I think an actual melodically driven ending would have been better, but that's just me.
  10. There is something about this ReMix, but I really don't know what it is. The production, which is usually where a lot of older mixes start to trip up, is off at points to varying degrees, but it has some old-school vibes that allow me to not completely write it off entirely. Not for me, I'm afraid, but I'm sure there are fans of it.
  11. When you look past the fact this was way back in the earliest of OCR days, I can only imagine what this would have turned into if it was put into an updater machine, because this has some great ideas, if anything. Kinda short and there is always a minor detail to pick on, but for the most part it's not bad.
  12. I liked you guys' first Golden Sun ReMix, sure. But this, however, I think is much better in just about every aspect. It's awesome. I love the amount of variety in the arrangement of this ReMix, ranging from the heavy rock style that is perfect for a battle track, to the bit of chip bit at 2:28 and the slower, more deliberate rock near the end. The production sounds clean and the ReMix itself sounds very natural and authentic musically. Nice job, fellas.
  13. Beautiful ReMix indeed. This fits an underwater or bay area scene so well, I love it. The piano just glides around the bells and the light percussion and it sounds peaceful. Absolutely beautiful work for a mix that was made so long ago. Nice job Wingless.
  14. I find it interesting that some people barely hear any source and others can pinpoint it out. I don't have a problem at all hearing the source, but that doesn't mean anything. Just something I found funny for myself. And with that out of the way, the song's arrangement of funky electronica is terrific in it's own right. Well produced, liberal enough to expand and actually rearrange the tune while still maintaining enough of the original to truly make it a ReMix.
  15. Best of luck to him with his treatments!
  16. Gorgeous ReMix. The build is incredibly epic right up until the highest peak and carries on to the very end, where we get a nice outro that lets the arrangement take a breath. Sweet as hell debut, Zack.
  17. Someone put a Lemon in our lime. And it's a very good thing considering the ReMix we've found with it. Very cool electronica chiptune arrangement and a great amount of direction throughout the mix to keep it fresh. While the energy is static, like DJP mentioned, I think the style this ReMix was done in and the way it was mix more than makes up for any real nitpicking. A job well done, Hylian Lemon.
  18. It does have that sort of whimsically powerful darkness about it that I could hear in a movie. Sounds just like the kind of arrangement that would fit a Final Fantasy 4 movie score for the dungeons, because it has those deary booming bassoons that turns into more of the same with fantastical lifts dancing around them. Got a small shade of Potter vibe in some areas, but just a little one. Like everyone else mention, the thing is overly quiet and I had to turn the volume up just to hear the ReMix, but after that, not bad.
  19. For the fair bit of age it has, this still sounds rather good with it's slick, hoppin' laid-back arrangement that makes it perfect for it's namesake London drizzle. Love that piano work. McVaffe, man, nice work on this awesome ReMix track.
  20. Yeah, I'm with you on that. I actually don't even hate the Final Fantasy X-2 music either. I liked both games and OSTs for the most part. Not sure about original opening to Street Fighter 4 now since people seem to have warmed up to it over the years, but it seemed like I was the only one to like it when it first came out.
  21. So yeah, if this was sped up, it really would be in the realm of Hawaiian polka and chicken dance and such. I don't know, I kinda like it for the arrangement idea of taking the shop theme and throwing a happy half-goofy tropical overlay on it. Not groundbreaking at all and as others have said, certain samples and production values aren't as good as others, but it's fun to listen to a couple of times.
  22. Ah, the atmosphere! Really is relaxing and chill, reminds me of something out of a puzzle game or the like. Wonderful guitar work from Viking Guitar (obviously), and the rest of the ReMix, especially the piano, sounded sweet. Cool stuff.
  23. I'm glad DJP brought up the split-second Castlevania feeling riff at 1:22, because it shows I'm not hearing things. Lots of funky energy on this sexy jazzy mix. Fantastic work, Sir J.
