  1. Gorgeous piano work here. This is an absolutely lovely mix and I totally dig the summertime rain vibe shot for. Like Brandon said, the pacing and actual performance of this piece is just fantastic. Going to have to add this to my playlist.
  2. Now this is a mix that is in the "holding up" section. The balance between the bass and the forefront melody is great and helps the e-piano set the mood of a relaxing, yet fun and toe-tapping location. So chill.
  3. Hmmm, well, I can at least support this much more than the Tetris mix, but again, enough with the claps, man. Lots of jumping around and special effects going on that just kinda go through the motions of this kind of arrangement. Not digging the piano so much either. Something sounds a little off to me. And the sudden ending is a no-no to me. Guess I could at least highlight the beat near the end of the mix, but other than that, I didn't care for this one, sorry.
  4. This one isn't my favorite among the older DJP ReMixes, but the low-fi arrangement and synths did their job and kept my attention. I can hear the production age and it is a bit short. All my nitpicking aside, though, truthfully, I do enjoy this ReMix as an older classic and I can respect the work that went into this one and the ReMix itself for what it is.
  5. That bass is terrific for melding with the beat and bells that dance around it. Has a little bit of an ominous tone at some points, which was cool to hear with a rave arrangement like this. A little bit too loud at times, but other than that, it holds up fairly well.
  6. It's an odd piece to me, but certainly not a bad one. The drum beat and scratches working alongside the piano sounded good and the samples were done in a way that they seemed to aid the ReMix, rather than just appear and possibly hinder it, which is definitely a plus. Nice work.
  7. Congrats Cyril! Many wonderful and happy years for the couple!
  8. Ah, Chicago! One of the few Perfect Dark tracks I've listened to over and over again. The crackling effects and distortion on some of the samples and the overall sound helped make this ReMix perfectly dark (no pun intended) and haunting. Has a lot of sorrow from the piano and spooky qualities from everything else, and that's not something I often hear together on the same song. Pretty good ReMix, I'd have to say.
  9. The wildlife and nature sounds set this apart from the other Waterfall ReMixes on the same album, and sounds oddly peaceful and almost like a waterfall’s base, giving off a picture of beautiful sights, rather than the dangerous cliffs that lie higher above. Truly a gorgeous ReMix.
  10. Happy Birthday halc!
  11. Holy crap it's finally on the OCR front page! I'm beyond happy see this legendary ReMix from DoD days past here, it sounds better than ever thanks to the reworking and remastering of it. To say that this is anything less than a classic would be a shame. I love the ska section in the Kakariko Village part, the chilling church part and the work that went into the Dungeons, Ganon and the Hyrule Castle. Even the transitions back and forth between the dark world and the fairies was a nice touch that I gotta note. Cool to see how much this has been improved and even though I loved the original, this is really awesome. If you're a Zelda fan, especially of Link to the Past, there is no reason not to download this. So freaking recommended.
  12. Man, I'd love to say something different, but it's been pretty much summed up by others. Samples are weak, the arrangement doesn't offer a whole lot that hasn't been done with Tetris before and the clapping.........way to much clapping. Sorry, not a fan of this one.
  13. Nice to see this one hold up better than other ReMixes. Probably just me, but the only issue I have here is that the synth is one notch too sharp for me at first, but after that it's not quiet that bad. Other than that minor point (which is, again, just me) this is a decent mix with a good beat.
  14. Shame that the sample age and usual weaknesses of older ReMixes shows up here. The arrangement notation has a good direction and I am getting an MMX fortress vibe out of it, so it has at least that much going for it.
  15. Happy belated birthday!
  16. That's an incredibly sexy sax we have going on in this ReMix. Honestly, I liked the piano myself, but I could understand where the judges were coming from with their critiques. Matter of taste, I guess. For a source (or two, or an entire game for that matter) that has been done an awful lot, it's still great to hear a nice, new arrangement from other ReMixers. Good stuff, guys.
  17. Oh man that sax worked so well in this one. Not a bad ReMix at all, and the inclusion of the Flav sample as well as switching up the styles as the mix went along definitely justified turning a short source into a four minute song. Nice work.
  18. Title pretty much says it all. There's a lot of heavy rawk in this one and it hits with a lot of force. Pretty good stuff from DusK.
  19. Okay, so hearing the other version on his actual site, I can at least retract several comments I would have made about the loud hissing noises, a couple (not all, but some) off-key notes in the organ and guitar and it does sound better there than in the preview here. It's not night and day, but it's immensely more tolerable on his actual site to say the least. Not really digging the fade-out ending, and not because it's a fade-out, but because I think an actual melodically driven ending would have been better, but that's just me.
  20. There is something about this ReMix, but I really don't know what it is. The production, which is usually where a lot of older mixes start to trip up, is off at points to varying degrees, but it has some old-school vibes that allow me to not completely write it off entirely. Not for me, I'm afraid, but I'm sure there are fans of it.
  21. When you look past the fact this was way back in the earliest of OCR days, I can only imagine what this would have turned into if it was put into an updater machine, because this has some great ideas, if anything. Kinda short and there is always a minor detail to pick on, but for the most part it's not bad.
  22. I liked you guys' first Golden Sun ReMix, sure. But this, however, I think is much better in just about every aspect. It's awesome. I love the amount of variety in the arrangement of this ReMix, ranging from the heavy rock style that is perfect for a battle track, to the bit of chip bit at 2:28 and the slower, more deliberate rock near the end. The production sounds clean and the ReMix itself sounds very natural and authentic musically. Nice job, fellas.
  23. Beautiful ReMix indeed. This fits an underwater or bay area scene so well, I love it. The piano just glides around the bells and the light percussion and it sounds peaceful. Absolutely beautiful work for a mix that was made so long ago. Nice job Wingless.
  24. I find it interesting that some people barely hear any source and others can pinpoint it out. I don't have a problem at all hearing the source, but that doesn't mean anything. Just something I found funny for myself. And with that out of the way, the song's arrangement of funky electronica is terrific in it's own right. Well produced, liberal enough to expand and actually rearrange the tune while still maintaining enough of the original to truly make it a ReMix.
  25. Best of luck to him with his treatments!
