I'm not sure I get it.
I mean, I love the Sonic games and MJ's music as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure why some people seem to be so emotionally invested in this - demanding closure for how many years? For me it's just kinda like "Cool. MJ wrote music for Sonic 3." and that's it but for many it seems like this is a discovery akin to finally solving how the Egyptians built the pyramids.

I'd recommend hitting up Rexy. She's basically OCR's star pianist.

Actually, Lara Croft will celebrate her 48th birthday on Feb.14. Since she was born in 1968
We really need a game with old Lara like what they're doing with Nathan Drake. Anyway,
Like you said, humanization, but since you're going to record it for realz, it's pointless to call that a "flaw" right now. I would add more variation to the rhythm and voicing of the arpeggios around the 1:10 - 1:30 and 2:40 mark since the accompaniment gets really repetitive there. I think that orchestral instruments would also go really well with it and ambience. Maybe like, orchestral hall noise or nature sounds and maybe some atmospheric synth pads or drones. Which reminds me, I need to get on re-doing my old Tomb Raider orchestral remix.
Anywho, I'm excited to hear the finished version when you've got it done!

What? Like I'm not kidding around when I say I literally have no idea what you're on about dude. It's like you're trying to go all SJW on the thread, but failing because no one is "complaining" about anything. No one's saying this shouldn't exist or something. It's just a weird marketing tactic that doesn't stick the landing and instead comes off as creepy fan service rather than serious marketing. Like, I'm sorry for poking fun at that?

What are you on about, Strader? There is no "salt" in this thread so far except, ironically, this post of yours complaining about it.
No one's stopping anyone from "liking" anything. Opinions are also not required to be positive and most people thus far would appear to agree that this is a weird marketing tactic selling over-priced goods and cringe-worthy poses. Like, I seriously can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with this thread unless they have a personal involvement with this campaign or an infatuation with Lightning that they feel is being attacked.

AngelCityOutlaw got a reaction from Eino Keskitalo in Difference in EQ Plugins?
To be completely honest, I don't really see a point in buying a different EQ. The fruity parametric EQ 2 is still my favorite for the reasons Timaeus just said. I can't really think of any features another EQ plugin would have that would be enough to justify spending hard-earned money on.
As a side note, I know people more into mixing than the other aspects of music might crucify me for this and say I'm "wrong", but I feel I've gotten better with mixing recently and the most important thing I think I've learned in terms of "frequency balance" is that it's not so much about EQ, but about composition and arrangement. For me, giving up on trying to get things to "fit" by fiddling with the EQ on a bunch of different tracks and instead, if something isn't audible, changing up the voicings, strategic choice of when a particular instrument plays, or just omitting certain parts altogether has yielded far more satisfying results.

I agree with what's been said, but honestly, it doesn't really sound like "80s rock" at all. I'm quite familiar with said genre so maybe I can provide at least one point of useful advice.
    - A defining feature of a lot of 80s music, is gated reverb on the drums. Basically, you run the toms and snare through a HUGE reverb, but use a noise gate or similar device to chop off the sound of the reverb just enough so that it doesn't sound messy. Also, see if you can get a hold of some retro drum machine samples. There is a soundfont out there called "ultimate drums", the "power kit" contained within sounds quite 80s.
    - Saws - Heavily reverbed chords played by a synth with two detuned saw waves is common. Kinda like what you hear in Van Halen's "Jump"
    - Electric guitars with lots of delay and chorus
    - Roland Juno-60 was extremely popular for basslines and the Juno-106 had arguably the quintessential synth brass sound of the 80s. Your bass isn't too far off, though. See if you can emulate or find an emulation of those synths.
    - Synth bells...synth bells everywhere. Maybe use those in place of the marimba?
A recent VGM track that totally nails it, is this
That is so fucking 80s, l grew a mullet just listening to it.
I think if you follow the others advice and apply some of the concepts like what you hear in this tune to what you already have, you'll be sounding straight out of the "golden age of pornogra-err...music, in no time!

HEY GUYS double post I know but who cares lol !
I've got a big update on the status of the project. As you may know, we have been seeking OCR approval for... quite a while actually. I sent the proposal in LATE MAY and have heard NOTHING from any OCR staffer since. I had sincerely planned to have the logistics of the release figured out by now, but between that mess and communicating with our ONLY artist (who is doing a fantastic job btw), I cannot say for sure if the OCR approval will come soon. I'm going to quote the OP here:
So here's the deal. The cover isn't finished (although it almost is), the songs aren't finished (for the most part), and we lack OCR approval. That means I am pushing back the final deadlines for the songs to an undetermined time. There will, however, be a new deadline for an up-to-date WIP on March 1st. If you want to send me what you have now, that would be great, but don't stress over having to finish your ditty in the next month. That said I'm going to post a teaser for the cover art; I hope to have the finished version soon!

I know it's a bit dark, but like I said, we're working on it. Good luck to you all, hope to hear from you soon!
EDIT: idk how to do spoiler tags in the new format, sorry.

The other Ghost In The Shell movies, for one.
Gundam 00 (Not cyberpunk, but futuristic and I'd argue the best Gundam storyline)
Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker (Cyberpunk as hell, also I swear that the TV series is the best Batman thing EVER)
Never seen it, but Appleseed is very Cyberpunk/futuristic looking.
    The Animatrix
Bubblegum Crisis 2040 (The last half of the series is kinda lame, though)
    Macross
    Evangelion
    Titan A.E.
