  1. Yuuup, humanizing that doesn't seem like it would be a fun job. Personally I would have found someone to play it live rather than try to humanize an entire song.. but if that's your workflow, I'll have to trust it The humanizing(timing, velocities?) should make it sound a lot better, but it is a pretty cool start and will be a nice direction for the remix. It'd be awesome if you could keep future WIPs a little more private, not that posting 1 here right now is too big of an issue for a 1st WIP, but I'll try to get all the new people added to the private subforum to post WIPs in the future. Just gotta make sure I get everyone and don't forget anybody when I send the list of new mixers in.
  2. All the consent signings are void because the statute of limitations ends after 5 years As a result the album will be delayed for 2 more years
  3. I agree! It'd be nice to know, also since this is the #1 result in Google for ocr project consent form, it'd be awesome if it was linked here. Edit: This is still the #1 google result a year later, so I am linking the dang consent form. CONSENT FORM HERE
  4. Hey! Your 2 FF3 mixes are great! Have you subbed them or what?

    1. Rockos

      Rockos

I got the first one rejected a while ago. I want to perfect those track. Also I'm not sure about the 4th one. I'm still brainstorming and life got over music. I'm trying to reverse the vapor. So I'll clear up those 2 tracks that got flaws. Thanks Brandon for caring.

Sorry for not caring more :-) It was great to hear from you!

  5. Nicolas Cage hasn't done enough movies where he's either fighting witches or being a vampire
  6. Worshipping goat is so old Testament. I was never too into Thrash metal. So many jokes. Sorry to disappoint everyone though, but the conclusion to the Cage trilogy didn't end up being black metal like the first 2. It's the most commercial of the 3 mixes. And right now the idea for which Cage quotes to use from which movie is kind of a mess. The song is perfect 3rd sequel material where a series gets stretched too thin to the point where the 3rd one completely loses what made them great to begin with.
  7. Crystal Cave I would say it is open, hasn't had a WIP since the project started which was years ago. If you want to give it a try that'd be cool. As for The Invincible, Dr. Manhattan has given some good WIPs and he still seems up for it, after his work on FF2 I'm a little hesitant to drop that one, instead I will use your request as inspiration to bug him a lot. But it may open up at a future date, just not right now. To be more fair and honest here, what will probably happen is by September 1st if there's no WIP from Dr. Manhattan, I may try to find a new remixer along the same line who could make an energetic rock/metal remix of the song. I know the album is not genre-exclusive and it's open to any genre, but this has been claimed for so long that I really really just want to hear it remixed like that. Shrug, having said all that, I mean you COULD remix it if you want and send me something, preferably something SUPER GOOD that I would feel comfortable with replacing a rock version with, something that will ingrain itself in my brain as being the definitive mix despite the years spent with expectations for something else. You could probably do it, if you bring your A game!
  8. I meant, there might be 1 or 2 tracks good enough for an OCR album, the darned could ask when it's over if there's anything good
  9. They made a whole album just for a remix request thread? Jeez
  10. DoD is doing Iwata month. Might be worth checking out the entries when the month is over.
  11. Well I'd have to say it depends on which track it is, I have heard from some of the people with no progress and they have a decent reason for not doing it yet....... but some of them don't! So let me know which one. I wanna set a September 1st date to try to get some finished songs in! Good luck folks!
  12. I'll give the same answer every time... before you start throwing money at the screen for brand names or specs.. consider that the most important thing is using a set of headphones that you're familiar with. The most important thing is to be intimately familiar with the sound you are hearing, know where the weaknesses are in your headphones, and be able to compensate for that.. like for example I know 2500KHz has a fall-off in the right speaker of my wireless sennheiser monitoring headphones. Whether you pay $5 or $500 makes little difference, most of the work will be training yourself to listen with whatever headphones you get. Becoming familiar with how those headphones color the sound and how to compensate for that. Buying a super expensive pair is less important than many people will have you believe.
  13. You sure I did that? I don't remember it at all Sounds awesome though
  14. I've edited my wip, it's still 12 seconds but the notes are slightly different! At this rate it should only take a handful more months to get it to 3 minutes or so
  15. I don't see why not, we could use some more whimsical and less metal stuff.
  16. So it's already out and I missed it? If you're not careful you might summon a Kaiju
  17. This seems promising! I might give it a go. Maybe not since the timeline is so short but you never know... those vocals need some SERIOUS tuning! Might be serviceable
  18. Dan Swano, pioneer of metal. Our generation's Dio Also anticipating new Lamb of God, Ayreon & Arjen Lucassen, Helloween... never been a huge Symphony X fan, they have some amazing songs, but I'd probably not listen to 1 of their albums, just check out the highlights on youtube.
  19. It's very different from the Balloon Fight main theme, just bases the melody off the very short motif near the beginning kinda like a remix. That's why I said alongside, dunno if it should replace Balloon Fight, the original. But I couldn't remix the original's main theme for sure, it's not as melodic. And I honestly don't know how OCR would label the game, either as Nintendo Land, or as Balloon Trip Breeze
  20. If you'd accept the Balloon Trip from Nintendo Land alongside Balloon Fight I'd be on board Can't claim Earthbound, the nostalgia isn't there for me and Kirby is taken.
  21. Brushing it off as a comedy song and saying it's good for a laugh really isn't doing justice to the review process. Was honestly hoping others would share some crits / positives to the mix so I'd know I wasn't crazy with the crits that I posted. Not liking vocal mixes is beating a dead horse, and you can't defend all vocal mixes under the umbrella of "you don't get it" or "vocal hate is so old hat". There's a lot of facets to vocal performance and quality. I mentioned I thought it sounded buried and mumbly a lot of the time. I actually had a neighbor circa 2002 or so who had a voice / accent that matched this song. Kinda tickles me.
  22. Everything takes a bit of a backseat to the drums. A lot of the time it just sounds like someone is mumbling in the background. The snare is super loud and dry... It does not at all sound like something that was produced in a high end recording studio. But on to the positive, it's a super funny novelty song, wish we got more joke songs more often. So much fun.
  23. I don't know if anyone actually sees this, but a HUGE APOLOGY to everyone waiting on me to finish a song

      Gracias Senor Strader. =)

Are you waiting on me too?? Or is that for PvZ? They're coming one of these days!

  24. Don't judge! Turn the other cheek! This just got real I vote that all remixes going forward are mixed as a wall of sound with no room for vocals to be added. I'll do my part
