  2. I'd keep kids away from senseless violence and sexualized/stereotypical portrayals in video games, so basically anything Mario where your main goal is to murder a bunch of creatures for no reason to find the cute girl at the end. That extends to Kirby's Epic Yarn where the goal is to basically kill enemies even though they can't hurt you. It might be cute, but it's teaching the wrong lessons.
  3. In soviet Russia, music arranges you. Love my NutS! Thanks for making this, it's so great!
  4. Did you mistake this mix and Rexy's mix? You said hers was chiptune and this was jazzy with strings and ePiano
  5. Thanks to you and Willrock for starting it and then allowing me/Chernabogue to take it over. It wouldn't have existed at all without you guys!
  6. Happy birthdaaaay! Listen to her new song! http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02945 It has been awesome to have you as a friend these last 16 or so years. cake
  7. Preview it: http://www.youtube.com/embed/NVRNkEb0liQ Download it: http://gameboy25.ocremix.org Torrent: http://bt.ocremix.org/torrents/Legacy_-_Game_Boy_25th_Anniversary.torrent It was an honor to work on this amazing musical tribute to the Game Boy with some of the greatest remixers I'll ever know. Chernabogue is also a great friend, a very nice guy, and proved to be an invaluable director as he helped organize the album. This album brings back a lot of great memories -- I hope you will find it to be a fitting tribute to the Game Boy, several great games, and the legacy of Gunpei Yokoi. - Brandon Strader The Game Boy was the very first video game system I ever got, and I had to share the only one at home with my little brother. Even if I never got a lot of different games, it was one of my first video game experiences. Directing an album is always an interesting and somewhat difficult task, especially on a short deadline. But the dedication of Brandon and of all the artists involved in the project made it possible. I sincerely hope people will enjoy this album as much as I enjoyed co-directing it. - Alexandre Mourey (Chernabogue)
  8. I've been slowly talking to sixto and asking to put the songs back on over the months. I thought Ending Theme was the most important so I asked that first.... Oh, I also asked to re-add his FF2 song, so that's in and submitted already... As for the last remaining 2, I guess time will tell... As for whether stuff is updated, I think it is. We just need to get a lot more WIPs. At this point I'm more interested in WAVs honestly, but baby steps. The WIP date is on August 5th, so if it looks like we have a claim from someone who has never submitted a WIP, it might go up for grabs. We'll see! I wanna hear your mix!
  9. I think your focus should be more on rearranging the game's theme rather than reproducing it directly. Create your own backing, and when you are writing the melodies from the original, give it a bit of your own flair. Let it sound similar to the original, but put a grace note here or there, or organize the melody in a more approachable way that is still familiar to people who hear it. OCR isn't really about remasters or covers, it's more about the re-arrangement. There's some mixes that are more conservative, but still in that case the conservative mixes don't rely on notes/data that were ripped from the game or taken from a midi. There's nothing wrong with doing remasters/covers for say, YouTube, but it's not really the goal of OC ReMix.
  10. ^ Yup!! I bet they changed it in the tagging too.... silly Also Malcos isn't on the vgmdb! And it'd be 16 artists now, wow!
  11. I put the because of the spam potential, nothing more. I edited my post. Thanks for putting in the hard and late work, Coop and Larry!
  12. Yeaaah I agree. I think doing all this last minute is totally CRAZY but if it works out, we hit the date, and ultimately Larry doesn't mind...then whateverr.... It's out of my hands!
  13. I think Argle's song got renamed or something anyway.... I mean I heard it on talkback but I don't know anything else I don't know if the artwork/website is changed to reflect these changes... if I had known anything about it I could have maybe helped with stuff x.x
  14. Weird Cool that youre back, sad about not popping in for the last few months. Oh well Maybe save it for Legacy 2 in five years
  15. You just may! August is the final WAV month, for everyone, right?
  16. Hrm I am going to leave the mixflood mostly up to DJP, I just know I want it to start with Mario (specifically made it to open the album since we didn't have any mario) and Tetris at the end... so, cross your fingers! Super excited to see peoples' reaction to the album, I think it's very good and already there has been cool reaction to Chernabogue's trailer on youtube... everything's looking good... thanks everyone!
  17. 10 days left and I'm not sure if I made this clear, but.... There will be a 6 month exclusivity for the backers to have the album, this is from the day it's released.. So if you wanna hear it that's the only way, for 6 months, and then I'll look into where else to release it. Not to mention it'll be cheaper for Kickstarter, you can nab it for only $1 whereas itunes will probably be $10 by default. Sooooo that's all edit: HARR!!! I got some of the best most generous friends evah. Thanks y'all
  18. I don't know if I said this already in the thread but the problem with a lot of RPG music, especially JRPG, is that they rely on looping a lot. So you can get some amazing pieces like that are super expressive and impressive too, but.... are made to loop. I suppose looping isn't THAT BAD of a thing, but it changes the mood of a piece if it is intended to loop rather than featuring a distinct beginning and ending, with crescendos and structural dynamics and other goofy phrases. Still, having said that, I think Ebel City is particularly expressive and dynamic despite its looping nature. And quite frankly it's unfitting for the game, it sounds like it belongs in a big budget 90s-era film score, like Bicentennial Man or something.
  19. Mmmmyes, don't leave the faith, my friend! Think it over!
  20. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will either be pleased by your lack of blasphemy in your name, or disappointed that you left the Christian faith, I do not know which -- but good luck with the new name
  21. Thanks to all the people who joined the Talkback with us It is very much appreciated! Let's meet in 5 years to make another Game Boy album, even if we've moved on to other things. We will return here, because it must be done...
