  1. Hmm, ok! Interesting. I'll mark it as a Final Fantasy Legend II mix then. :-P

  2. You gave a WAV! Hooray! We're looking good for the June 10th WAV date for the EP. We should be able to hit this successfully.
  3. The attack on the violins near the beginning is crazy jarring -- needs some much smoother legato or other articulations. In general throughout the piece it could have used smoother articulations, if available, mainly for those distinct attacks.. The super fuzz guitar chugs seem exposed when they're so loud at first, but fit in better later on. And the ending could have been extended a lot. Seems to just peter out. But on the whole, this is a pretty strong mix.
  4. I let Doug know, he's been at Disney world and playing a lot of games, so maybe he just didn't notice.
  5. I wish well to TotalBiscuit, Cancer sucks
  6. Hah, sounds like something vgmdb needs to fix. Does OCR have some kind of partnership where they let you pull the info from their site? Maybe you could put a word in or something? :3
  7. I don't honestly remember, I do remember being on OCR as early as 2001 and one of my earliest memories is enjoying http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR00690 and seeing what else the site had to offer purely based on that track. That song was the point where I realized remixes were "something more".
  8. I'd given up this compo and then I got the flu, so rightfully I shouldn't enter, but I may enter with a single vocal take in my low flu range (I can't sing high for a while) Whatever, am I right?
  9. You put it very well and I completely agree you guys too I knew I wasn't the only one who felt this way. There's a lot of people who share my opinion on this divisive issue.
  10. Perhaps.... maybe... if it's not too much to ask, could you experiment a little with maybe making that artist text just a couple shades of grey darker? If not no biggie, thanks for reading my thoughts and not being offended I know how much work you've been putting into V6, and how long we've been waiting for it -- it's very much appreciated. One last question... will the graphics in V6 be more similar to the new favicon? Is it going to match more stylistically with the orange and stuff?
  11. My issue was only ever with using instrumental loops... drum loops and such I consider to be fine... but at any rate I am done being silly with my opinion here.
  12. Please refrain from putting words in my mouth. It is not the same at all, because we are not sampling entire sections of the original game audio to create remixes. We're also not selling them, and not winning awards for remixes we made that sample, in whole or part, other peoples' work.
  13. I disagree, creating a race of robots who create music with loops made by humans 1,000 years ago is closer to a musical dystopian future
  14. It's kinda on topic, but here's my friend, he may be a big Harpist on OCR someday. Check out his stuff!
  15. Also just noticed but I don't think artist names should be truncated :3
  16. I probably got a little too animated expressing my opinion, but it is a way I feel. They could have hired someone to play a live harp, or just asked a friend (even I have a friend who plays harp). And then wrote their own harp parts and had them performed. Relying on instrumental sample packs feels like a cheap crutch when there are humans available to perform those parts... or even sample libraries like Colossus, or any number of VST options. But the main difference is that Mr. Korb probably did have access to VSTs or musicians, but chose to "write" with the pre-made song sections instead. Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe playing instruments and being part of OCR, a site that frowns upon verbatim source usage or sampling the original song, contributed to how I feel about this kind of sampling.
  17. Ooooh nice, I hope you messed with the chick back ;-) you know, consensually

  18. Hey, it's awesome to see such a strong change but here's a few problem areas I think could be improved on... Favicon -- why? The old one was good and definitive Workshop -- with a zoom of 110%, this still overlaps the page. Ad spot -- for people with Ad block, consider putting a normal image when no ad available that links to donate or ocr shoppe. Artist text -- practically unreadable light-gray on white A couple of these issues affect people with less than ideal eyesight and I really hope to see them addressed, as having bad eyesight is a fairly common issue Also I'm not convinced having "quotation marks" around song titles is necessary... But if kept perhaps they could not be part of the hyperlink, since they're not part of the titles.
  19. Using instrumental loops If you didn't write it, if it didn't come from your head, if you are not in any way emotionally invested in the material, it's not wholly yours and it's just a cheap product. i laughed
  20. I think using presets is fine, but.... using someone else's loops is basically the same as manufacturing inspiration, which is embarrassing to know that an OST like Bastion's could win so many awards and be so loved but just be a combination of public assets. Credit should be given to the people who created the loops that make up the OST. If someone thinks it's fine to use loops.... that's their prerogative... but it is cheating, and also a very cheap way of creating music just for the sake of having music. No wonder I didn't dig most of the OST. You can't put heart or passion into someone else's work before claiming it as your own. It just doesn't make sense. I realize it's not a matter of plagiarism, but it's not much better than that. The legal use of someone else's music. Not to mention I know people from OCR who could make music from scratch, be inspired, and do a better job. It's not fair at all.
  21. All I've learned from this thread is that there's probably more potential to make money from raising baby goats into adult goats and then either selling them or milking them for their milk. I guess when the question is whether you'd use samples or start a goat farm, I think the answer is kinda obvious... As an aside I was never too impressed with the Bastion OST apart from a couple songs. This is kinda disappointing to find out anyway.
  22. Make the OC stand for Original Content OriginalContent ReMix
