Aussies rejoice at getting a gaming product before the Yanks! DS Lite is out today! Perhaps a price drop would entice me to upgrade in the future (damn EB and their crappy 'trade two games and your old DS and get the Lite for $100!' deal).

OCR01481 - Raptor & Final Fantasy VII "PlectraSubCity"
watkinzez replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Wow. This is excellent. The vocals do indeed add so much to the mix. My interest was kept throughout the whole song. Apart from the ending, which faded a bit too quickly for my liking, this is ace. -
I've been able to listen to this over the past few days, and I can say this is probably my favourite project since Kong in Concert. Nary a bad mix on the album. Highlights for me included R U Overdrive (awesome), both of José's songs, and Sixto's Ken. The minor gripes I have are involved in the track list. Shael's and Aetherius' tracks shouldn't have gone back to back. As suggested in the thread before, they would have worked as great bookends to the album. I'll try making my own tracklist and see how it goes. Rock on, guys. Love it.

OCR00165 - Punch-Out!! "Dream Fighter"
watkinzez replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I've liked this mix for a long while, being one of Scott Peeples' top mixes. But what brought it to my attention again was when listening to it on my new headphones. Some sections are absolutely drowned in bass. Listening to it on low volume is necessary now. Just that one gripe, pretty ace elsewhere. Has aged well. -
Don't emphasise the 'bane'. Pronounced 'Brisben'.

Request for a Tintin avatar? He's had a few games over the years.

There's a few things that need looking at in that bio, Spoon. Its relative shortness doesn't really give an insight into the character. Having played the series, I know Big Boss' role as a legend, but this doesn't indicate that. A first time reader would just know him as a 'rookie operative'. Furthermore, what is the Les Enfant Terribles project? You also omitted/ don't have sources. All for the good of the project.

Well, that took me a while to figure out the title reference. -
I cannot go to the BrisBANE meetup. I wish I could be able to go to that BrisBANE meetup so much.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'multiple' violations. Looking back, the main issue I see is spoilers. Don't mind the length myself, if that's the problem..
-
Doing main theme /= score. He did the same thing for Final Fantasy 12, so expect Hirokazu Ando to return for the rest.
-
I wanted to say that first. He ain't the most likely one to be picked, but Michel Ancel seems to be interested in the Wii, and Rayman would fit in rather well.. Not to mention that some upgraded Rayman music would be sex.

OCR01476 - Rayman 2 "Disconnected"
watkinzez replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Love the Rayman. I'm with chthonic on the love for this soundtrack, and while Disconnected doesn't try to match it, the direction that it was taken is just pure groove. Bouncy. -
Nice work Coop. Not much else to be said for this one at the moment. If the project does drag enough for FF12 to be released first, then someone who owns the game can go back and redo something, I suppose. Nothing stopping post project release editing anyway. Penelo SQUARE-ENIX 2006 Released to the world in 2006, Square Enix’s ‘Final’ Fantasy game for the PS2 starred Penelo as one of the cast. Her home is Rabanastre, a vast city of the land of Ivalice, previously seen in Final Fantasy Tactics. At 16 years old, her life on the streets has taught her instincts unknown to a girl of higher stature. She learned martial arts from her older, deceased, brother, him being a part of the military. Now an orphan, Penelo makes money working as a dancer in a Rabanastre bazaar. Her relationship with the main character, Vaan, is a strong friendship with a hint of romantic tension. Somewhat acting as his conscience, she is known to reprimand Vaan for stealing, even given their existence on the streets. Her jovial nature helps bring balance to the core group as the plot progresses. In the Japanese release, Yuna Mikuni was the voice actor for Penelo. Is this one any different? Yes and no.. the former is the clone of the latter, Big Boss. BB has his own history shown in Snake Eater, so he warrants a seperate bio. Still, I hadn't noticed that mascot. I'd do BB, but I haven't finished the game yet. Been meaning to do that.

No one 'got' the DK Rap. It was supposed to be awful. That's Rare's humour. I remember reading on their site that the reaction they got from the song was completely different to what they were expecting. People took it too seriously..

Solid Snake KONAMI 1987 Solid Snake is the protagonist for several of the Metal Gear games, and helped introduce the stealth genre into gaming. Voiced by David Hayter, Snake is simply a codename that cements his place as an elite soldier used for the highest, most hazardous missions that the US government has. He is a one man army- there is no backup given to him while on assignment, and if caught his existence will be denied. In destroying various incarnations of the nuclear weapon Metal Gear, his track record on missions has earned himself a reputation. Snake is a clone of who is told to be the greatest soldier in the 20th Century, Big Boss. He earned his marks during the original Metal Gear title, infiltrating a South African state known as Outer Heaven. Under Special Operations Group FOXHOUND he was directed by Big Boss to assess the situation. Eventually it is realized that Boss is in fact leading Snake on and is unmasked as the villain behind the operation. Taking on Big Boss and the warhead equipped tank Metal Gear, Snake successfully neutralized the threat and became known for his style and dependability. Each successive title in the series revealed a deeper backstory to Snake’s character, painting him initially as a person who may not agree with his superiors but keeps his mind on the objective of the mission. Much of the Metal Gear games concentrate on the ethics of war and that associated with it, of which Snake learns and teaches throughout the series. His unique style and manner on the battlefield has garnered popularity towards the Metal Gear games, which still continue dominantly on the Playstation platform. Quote: “It's easy to forget what a sin is in the middle of a battlefield.” Source: Solid Snake Wikipedia Page The Sons of Big Boss- The Snakes Games Solid Snake has appeared in: NES Metal Gear (1987) Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990) PLAYSTATION Metal Gear Solid (1998) PLAYSTATION 2 Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)

OCR01473 - Super Metroid "Brinstar Bonsai Garden"

LOL Yeah, right. I wish... I myself was surprised the style you've accomplished here. Compared to Aquatic Pressure, this is in a completely different direction. analoq did the same thing with his first few submissions. I'm looking forward to what you come up with in the future. -

I dig. That last section I don't mind so much, a slowed down version of Shnabubula? Those clicks are a distraction though. Groove bias. -
Sounds good. Pretty much a vague timeframe is needed, if someone is new and has been sitting on a bio for ages, then yeah.
-
I want that fucking game! Going insane, losing my brain.. Was it even released here?/Released here on GCN? Nope, we got the Xbox version instead. At $25, I've been meaning to get it..
