hmmm.... too much, too too much. Your mastering is atrocious, your drums sound really random and are pretty poorly done. I think the problem with your drums is you're not using any type of kit, or any basic kit (I'm sure that isn't the word I'm looking for), but you have several hats and kick going at once. I don't hear/notice any snare. As for it sounding random, you don't have a basic beat behind this. Everything just sounds like it's doing it's own thing, and it's clashing all over the place. The overall song lacks direction and atmosphere. Again, I would say it's all very random. I would like to say better luck next time, but seeing how you said you usually do trance, I would say stick to that until at least you improve your mastering and arrangement skills. Or at the VERY least, do something a little more simpler like Drum n Bass. Use drumloops to practice with if you have to. Lastly, I can't tell what song you're remixing, although keep in mind that is not what I was criticizing.

idea = DJ Sawka bass = Squarepusher intro = Aphex Twin There's a lot of awesome in this, and yet there's a lot of things missing from it. Your intro is definitely clipping, the timing on some of the instruments are off (it's noticeable later in the song), the over all quality of the song is a little lo-fi. However, nothing a little understanding of what you're using can't fix. Good luck with that.

correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't patches specifically designed for a synth? i.e. you can only load them with the correct synth? i.e. they aren't actual sound files? i.e.i.e.o?

ok... wow... and I thought I had an odd taste in music. I really don't know what to make of this. I would say something like 'it sounds really cluttered, it's hard to make out what's going on.', and yet, that might be the point. I would (personally speaking), tone down all the drone(ness) and bring out the melody, while still keeping a sense of avant-garde, experimental/subliminal noise. Then there's always waiting on what someone else has to say.... Way to be different!

Drone? I'm having a hard time deciding whether this is good, or if this is bad. The minute of silence at the end doesn't help my decision either. I request a track from one of your influences so I have something to compare this to.

Quality doesn't really mean shit anymore, otherwise they would have accepted Siamey MGS trance remix from a while back. Times changes, the judges are fgts, etc. etc. the world continues to turn.

Interesting. A couple of comments: - (this may not be totally accurate) Your kick may have a little sustain/release on it, if it does, get rid of it or make it as small as possible. Since you go crazy with your kick at points, it would be wise to have it nice and snappy. - The hats stand out too much. It hides the piano/synths (plus the treble is a little irritating to the ears.) - The cymbal also has too high of a treble. Main issue I think are the hats standing out far too much. Turn them down, do a little more overall mastering, and I think you'll be good to go.

Wow this is pretty sweet. From what the judges are saying, is that what you have is pretty good, they just want it better. The overall mastering is a little on the flat end. The drums feel pretty thin with no real punch, no real oomph in sound to them. The acoustic guitar in the middle tends to get hidden behind the electric guitar in the middle of the song. Better strings samples could be used for 1:59 (though personally, they didn't bother me). At 2:41, your kick is barely noticeable. So yea, this is pretty bad ass. Going back and replacing a couple of things, and mastering everything else to give it some oomph, and this should be a shoe in. Dave Wise did the soundtrack for R.C. Pro-Am??? WTF??
