  1. Not exactly breakcore, but it's a good alternative.
  2. Relevant: In the end, does it sound good? Do you like it?
  3. This is kind of a generalized question where any tip can be broken and won't apply to every aspect of drum programming. It's also best to separate electronic drums and acoustic drums as they are usually mixed differently. With electronic drums, focus on the bass kick. Get that to sounds the way you want to first, then start incorporating all the other elements. With acoustic drums, realism is most important so I'd say finding the right sample(s) is key. Lots of variations when sequencing (velocity, timing, etc.) to make it sound more natural. Finally, there's nothing overtly wrong with drumloops. Slicing and experimenting with them can lead to creative new sounds. They can also make your mix sound fuller, or they can be used as a good benchmark with what you want to end up sequencing.
  4. They're worth it if your songs are good, your album is executed well, and you have the market/fans who would buy/take them off of you. It isn't worth it if your songs are poor, your album is underdeveloped, and you lack enough fans who are interested in having your work. You certainly don't sound like your music would do well if you were to pay to produce physical copies, but you can still release digitally for free or I suppose next to nothing. The one thing I'm getting from your post however is that you don't really have an album idea in your mind, just a bunch of singles or random tracks you'd compile together. Not saying you can't produce something like that, but that isn't the kind of mind frame you want when preparing an album.
  5. Oh, that's cool. I just dunno if OP'll be back to read these comments since it's been a month, and he only has three posts. That shouldn't deter you from making helpful posts though. Keep at it.
  6. lesseeee, I don't feel like you're utilizing your stereo space enough. Drums, leads, they all seem very centered. Delays might be ping-ponging to the sides but most of the focus seems pretty central. The piano arps sound when you pause the game or get a coin can be thrown to one side, or moved around. Leads can be shifted to one side, it'll open up the song a lot more. Your beat is pretty snooooooore. I know with trance it's typical 4onthefloor stuff, but add some spice to it. Add some personality to it. You have the kick playing for 4 solid minutes. Drop it during a transition, drop it during a section, filter it up mayhaps. Not a big fan of how the lead @ 1:20 sounds, or the violin at the end either. Sticks out too much in what is generally a pretty electronic tune. It's not terrible tune, it just really lacks personalization. Lacks polish. Feels kinda rushed, like you did it in a day or so. Practicing working on eqing, mixing, sound designing (1:20 lead). Get dirty with your DAW. Edit: wait, Anorax, are you just bumping month old threads?
  7. Unfortunately, not any time in the foreseeable future.

  8. I use to use multiple pattern blocks dedicated to various sounds and instruments, which got ridiculously confusing when I abandoned the project for several years and then tried to go back and figure out what I did and what does what. I've recently just started merging all my drum sounds into one pattern and all my instrumentals into another. In the playlist, hold ctrl and right click the mouse over the patterns you want merged together, then left click and select merge selected. If you have patterns that aren't close by that you want merged (pattern 06, pattern 20, pattern 24, etc.), select a pattern you want to merge, hold ctrl + select and use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to move it next to the pattern you want to merge with.
  9. It might be. I upgraded from Komplete 4 so I need to spend some more time with Guitar Rig 5. It did come with physical copies of instruction manuals for Komplete 3 and 4. My guess is to save money they stopped mass producing a bunch of little books and just have a digital copy online.
  10. This isn't a thread to shamefully promote your own music is it? It would be rather deceiving to make a thread about a collection of products only to end up linking to your work, regardless of whether or not you actually used said product in your work. It would be better for you to explain why you find Komplete 9 Ultimate to be the win. I got the K9 upgrade. I do like the transient master plugin, but I haven't really used anything else from K9.
  11. Because I don't play new or modern video games, I have no interest in remixing new or modern video game music. Why shouldn't it be? Classic or nostalgic tunes tend to get stuck in my head enough times that I might start to come up with a reprise or a variation of the tune that can work in a remix. If I were to play a new game (last one being mario party ds), the last thing I care about really, is the music. I bought the game to play a game (and if I recall I had the volume on mute everytime I played... except for that one game where you have to match the rhythm or something). I'm not interested in getting a game just to try and remix one of the songs. To each their own.
  12. You're not alone. This is beautifully done. So mellow, so jazzy, very dynamic. Two things I would have done: I'd remove the section between 1:44-1:59. It seems unnecessary. At some point I expected the drums to kinda take a backseat but keep the flow going. 4/4 Open Hat/crash/ride for several bars, no need for fills. Wonderful tune all around though. Be happy you haven't lost your touch.
  13. There is a time stretching box on sample / shape properties tab. I believe if you change the 'resample' option to 'pro transient' or 'speech' or one of those options it has, FL'll leave it alone.
  14. Traveled south this passed week and decided to try one of these. It was just bbq sauce on a bun =(
  15. oh goodness, this is very, very similar to múm. You have a really good foundation. The sounds work. I'd like to see where you take it from here before really nitpicking anything. Lovely lovely stuff.
  16. Jumped on that NI deal. From Komplete4 to Komplete9 for 75 bucks is ridiculous.
  17. Dunno if I ever paused and listened, but ambient aquatic is the first thing that came to mind in regards to the question. and maybe Bubble Bobble's theme... Tetris? nah, DKC was the first to really make me listen.
  18. The inexperience shows in this one. Bass stabs and super saw, unprocessed drums, everything screams default settings. Nothing is being filtered, nothing is being customized or personalized, there's no build up to anything, there isn't anything much being added instrumentally beyond a warbly bass sound and chippy synth. You need more practice with your DAW and you need to learn what it is capable of doing. Experiment, learn new tricks, try something new.
  19. 2:11 in and, while the sounds you have aren't all that bad, there isn't a whole lot going on writing wise, and you've looped the same stuff with very little variation, this tends to get really boring really quickly. The subtle add at 2:31 and change up at 2:53 are neat, but again you just keep reusing the same sound over and over and over and over it gets really dull really quickly. You need to have more fun with the writing. Drop sounds (4:18 was well done), add more instruments, add more variation, cut 2-2 1/2minutes of the looped stuff, it's unnecessary. Play around with effects, get other synth sounds going, add some sizzle and some spice.
