  1. Definitely gives the final boss of Kirby 64 the homage it deserves. Proto's compositions have always been considered heavy well executed and classic. In this track, I especially enjoyed the breakdown at the 2:30 mark with the higher end filters dominating. Drum and bass isn't really my thing, but this was certainly a refreshing listen until the distorted laugh around 4:10. I really need to stop watching "Gotham" before listening to songs with that kind of ending.
  2. This has to be one of the weirdest of the old skool techno OCRs of back in the day. I say it's wierd because when comparing this slowed down version to the source, it just sounds like the soundtrack to a really quirky children's TV show. And yes...that ending. What the frak?
  3. My big reason for choosing my username was because a bunch of people kept spelling my name wrong. I finally took on the previous username "Double A Ron" because an American girl I liked kept spelling my name like the girl "Erin" even though I had spelt "Aaron" out like my username. I since then changed it to A-Ron after feeling the "Double" would cause flow issues when phonetically speaking the name fast. Anyway, I'm just ranting. Sure the name is all about me, but it's my catchiest handle, so sue me for keeping it.
  4. I love the classic feel to this. Piano and bass swing are spot on. Vince Guaraldi will be proud.
  5. I guess we'll just have to post more and more classic technomanga remixes to determine the definition.
  6. Although I'm from the province next door (Manitoba), welcome to the Great White North, eh? I prefer you drive up here so you can witness the glory of our Canadian Shield.
  7. Pretty much sums it up. Plus my methods of mixing are very (what some people would consider) "unorthodox."
  8. Is it me, or do I find that every generation Y movie buff is always giving facepalms to nostalgic remakes and fretting that producers are going to ruin a movie just to make money off of 20 - 40ish crowds? That being questioned, I try my best to be unbiased and then form my own opinions after watching a trailer. On the topic of Fraggle Rock being a movie, I actually do feel like this may become either a musical that may become as annoying as "Let It Go" on Frozen or "Everything is Awesome" in the Lego Movie, or it just may turn out to be a movie created with an old formula that will be outdated kind of like the 2012 remake of the Three Stooges. Yeah, I guess I failed at trying to be unbiased but that's what happens typically in a forum right?
  9. It was a soundtrack for me. Sonic CD's Japanese soundtrack made me want to create house music but Eminem and the Beastie Boys' tracks got me into making hip-hop.
  10. My parents came over to play the original SNES Mario Kart one day and were disappointed when they figured out that leaning left and right doesn't improve their steering. Luckily they were able to figure out that the mushroom means go faster rather than the up arrow. Imagine having them play MK8. That may cause all sorts of WTF moments in their minds.
  11. Yup, there are days when I feel alone thinking I'm the oldest person here at 31. Speaking of the generational gap, I've noticed that a lot of the younger generation of remixers who make it on the site have taken a lot of work into understanding the evolution of OCR's remixing standards. Kudos to OCR for training 'em young (not sure if that came out in the right context).
  12. I tried voicing concerns similar to this but after years of seeing what can result from that, I just simply try to enjoy the music, listen to a song carefully, or simply ask if the source isn't recognizable. I honestly have no opinions now as long as I can actually determine what source is there in a remix even if my ears can't seem to do it (hence the list of what original was used on a remix write-up page).
  13. Technomanga and Killer Studio Chop remixes. We need more of those.
  14. Same. I thought a Shinobi flick with that exact name was done back in 2005 but turns out it was a whacked out version of 47 Ronin. As for Streets of Rage? I don't know how that would work out.
  15. This. An original owner of any piece of artwork whether music or graphic should at least have a personal right to use it as a portfolio piece on their own personal website or as a submission to a client or company if said owner feels it's worthy of demonstration purposes. Copyright cannot be given up freely be it a live performance or written guitar or sheet music.
  16. Unfortunately some of my favorites of Sam's work that are still missing are: - Playing Super Mario World While Taking Mushrooms - Adventures in Dinosaur Land (Supernesology) - Super Mario Bros Alternate Reality x3 - Super Street Fighter Alternate Reality Edition (I know I mostly plugged the Mario rearrangements, but those ones always stuck with me). I'm wondering if he's being internet stalked. I've had to take down things online sometimes because of that. I recently stopped freelancing due to internet stalkage. Or is he depressed? For such a great musician I can understand the two of these possibilities.
  17. Usually between January and February is my real downtime mood-wise. That's because every year since 2002, I keep remembering February 7th 2002, a day that changed my life forever. I won't get into it, it actually ruined me psychologically speaking. Prayer, meditation, and a good dose of music similar to "Happy by Pharrell Williams" gets me up and going again. This year, I've actually been doing a lot of exercising as well as getting lots of music done. Can't wait to see what the future holds.
  18. I remember hearing this when dubstep first started reaching America from the UK before being ripped apart by bro-step (I like Skrillex type dubstep, just think it's overdone). There's no other way to say it; this is the darkest, creepiest, raunchiest, most vile masterpiece that I have ever heard. From the first reverberated wub to Ganondorf laughing before a low-heart warning drop, I have chills. The chip arps, the cutoff effects, all nasty and filled with pure evil just the way a pitch black Zelda dungeon would be in real life. If I had to fill Link's shoes and walk into a dungeon hearing this, I will be paralyzed with fear. I'm not going to sleep tonight...probably because I'll be playing this over and over again.
  19. I used to be against this kind of networking but I found that putting yourself out there is definitely a rewarding experience especially in an online world where spammers only try to prey on people's interests. Welcome to the A-Ron friendship circle. The best place to reach me is Twitter if you want to get a hold of me. Mods: may want to move this to the Community Discussion section, unless of course this somehow ended up here via an algorithm similar to this:
  20. http://newmediamanitoba.com/events/279/music-for-games Sounds like an appropriate event for OCR members in Winnipeg Manitoba to meet up. I've also had the occasional composition job for a local developer and would like to get my hands more into making music for games along with EDM. So, anyone in the Winnipeg area into networking alongside me and learning about composition for games?
  21. Yes, I've joined the dark side of electronic music using higher end programs and let iTunes have their way with it. http://itunes.apple.com/ca/artist/aaron-parsons/id543491680 #killerstudiochops4life
  22. I guess to dream much bigger is a good resolution these days?
  23. So recently I injured my back and tore a muscle in my leg and I'm having a hard time sitting for long periods of time in front of a desktop computer because of the pain. I'm currently on a work leave of absence and will be browsing and posting more often. Which leads me to this topic which may have possibly been posted before. While lying down and resting I'm using my Samsung Galaxy to browse most of the forums I post and network in now but I can only view the whole site on OCR. I tried Forum Fiend but only get the same result. It could be the issue that vBulletin and Tapatalk APIs are a bad combination. Is there a way to view a vbulletin powered forum (this one) on a Google Play app, or should I just suck it up and post when I can?
  24. For some odd reason, this makes me think of Get Lucky by Daft Punk in the beginning, but alas, I was wrong once 0:35 hit. I've been listening to SuperiorX's work for quite a while. He's come a long way as a mixer and this shows how versatile he is. The choice of leads, chorus effect settings, and did I mention dat electro bass? Awesome! The composition in itself is fun and brings the Saturday night fever onto the modern dance floor.
