  1. First time posting! Lena Raine's soundtrack is incredible and Exhale is probably one of my favourite tracks on the album. Transferring the melody to the flute part meant that I could play around a bit more with the piano accompaniment, in addition to playing around with the countermelody towards the end. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

  3. Hi, Here is a piano arrangement of "Airship" and "Legend of the Deep Forest" (final fantasy 5) https://soundcloud.com/bluelighter0085/final-fantasy-5-flight-over-the-enchanted-forest In its original version, "Airship" was in a heroic mood. I've tried to play it in a different way. After that, it was natural to marry with the forest theme. Enjoy
  4. Here is a new recording of one of my first piano tunes, titled "A Life Well Spent". I originally wrote it in 2015 to go with the soundtrack to a browser game I was developing. I abandoned the project, but the tracks remain a part of my repertoire. Some of them I really like and I attempt to update them as my skills grow. In terms of feedback, what do you think could be done to make the left hand more interesting (provide a timestamp for where you think improvements can be made)? I'm kind of following a pattern of 3 or 4 chords. What can I do to break out of that in a more interesting way? Thanks for listening
  5. Hello again I'm currently working on putting my first album together with some of my first and best works. This involves taking new recordings and using better piano sounds. I just now finished the recording for a short piece I did back in 2016 titled: 'Sixty Tears Per Second'. It is one of my all time favorites that came out of a improvisation session. With just some minor tweaks and transposition to a different key, this is the result: Hear it and weep! (You're welcome )
  6. Hi I just uploaded one of my latest piano solos titled "Seeking Dorian". As the title suggests, it is written in Dorian Mode. I learned about church modes some time ago and wanted to give one of them a try. Dorian mode seemed like an easy place to start. It developed from a piano thing, to an orchestral thing, back to a piano thing, and I'm glad it did. Its always nice when you can actually play your own stuff My piano teacher provided some feedback and even said she would like one of her students to play it during a student concert sometime, which is a nice compliment. When I'm working on things I always think "Oh, my teacher is going to not like that..." so I was surprised to find out she actually liked it (I really need to let go of those thoughts anyway). So here it is: Enjoy.
  7. Here is another piece that grew out of a improvisation session. I have been messing around with it for some time before finally putting it down on paper so to speak. I came up with new ideas while inputting stuff in FL Studio. I think it has some interesting moods that I'm not sure how to describe. The opening is kind of tense which then resolves to something more relaxing but finishes with something a little uncertain. Hence the title "Conflict and Resolution". PS: For the life of me I can't work with those pesky sustained strings How would you describe the mood of this piece?
  8. Here is a new, loop-able piece I created recently. I was playing around on the piano and accidentally hit a wrong key doing an arpeggio, which struck a chord with me (see what I did there?). It ended up becoming a feature of the main rhythm . [Grammatically speaking, does the period come before or after the emoticon?] The rest came through improvising over the recording of the rhythm. Most of the effort went into getting the piano recording to sound right. The whole humanization thing is really frustrating to me, but I'm hopefully getting better at it. The other instruments I left quantized more or less. I imagine this playing in the background for some adventure game when the player is traveling inside or towards a mining or industrial town or something like that. What do you think?
  9. Small teaser for my latest album "Exit" (c) 2018 P.s. 10. Hello fellow music lovers, I recently uploaded a new recording of one of my first piano compositions that I'd like to share. I initially tried to write a "battle" theme for a Javascript browser game I was creating for myself. I felt like it didn't sound battle-y enough so I ended up counting it as a personal "single". The title was a play on the concept of random battles that keep happening to players in classic RPG's. Now it refers to the many battles I have had with my chronic fatigue. I recorded the song in parts to my digital piano and made it pass through GPO5's Stage Grand to make it sound much better. Granted, the performance could be better (I have a better and full recording where I was less trying to control everything, but I'll keep that for later when I do more harmonization). Speaking of harmonization: I have a couple of ideas, but for the most part it is tricky for me to include more notes, given the speed of the song and the shortness of most right hand notes. Would this call for an additional instrument maybe to do more harmony or maybe a counter melody/2nd voice? I guess I'd prefer to keep this a piano solo that I can actually play. Anyway, here is the piece:
  11. Hey guys! I just recently finished up this little solo piano arrangement of Song of Healing from Majora's Mask and thought I would share it with you all. I realize this is an insanely popular piece for people to remix/cover, but it's such a special piece, but I think the tune is so malleable and it was fun to try and do something different with it. I originally had made something far more virtuosic and flashy but it didn't fit the intimate feel of the original. I instead opted for something more subdued and "pretty". I added a little intro and outro based on some of the original harmonic material and I think it works as a nice framing device for the piece. At first I keep the tune fairly traditional, but ended up gradually adding some of my own personal flourishes throughout. Hope you guys enjoy it. Let me know what you think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3NexJ5G1dg
  12. Hello OCRemix! I made a megaman 2 remix of the password theme. I got the idea from my tutor who's helping me out with all things music theory and production. I thought I would also post it here, and see if any of you would enjoy it or have some advice for a budding remixer/composer. What I was going for is an improv session with the source material while trying to go into different places as well with it. Thank you for anyone that reads this post, and hope you have a wonderful weekend. WARNING: I haven't mixed and mastered yet as I'm very green in those areas so please take that into consideration. Here is the original version and my version. You only need to listen to the first 5 seconds of the source material. Thank you again!
  13. After many (sometimes frustrating) hours of work I have finally managed to complete this remix. I turned the second BGM from the classic Game Boy game 'Tennis' into an orchestral piece. This time I worked with FL Studio 20 and more professional sound libraries such as Cinematic Strings 2 and Garritan Personal Orchestra 5. I first expected to just copy/paste the notes from my MuseScore version, but quickly found that working with better packages was very inspirational. As a result I managed to create a much more interesting and vibrant composition than I could not have pulled off with MS. I made some important changes compared to the first version: Added a pizzicato intro that is supposed to suggest a tennis match with 2 points scored before a ace is landed. This is a reference to a feature in the game where the computer will often use a nearly unstoppable move (ace in tennis terms) that got me so angry as a kid playing this game. The title reflects this also: 'Ace on Me'. I replaced the vibraphone and harp with the piano, which just sounds much better. I added more voices and used different play styles for the strings sections. Thanks to this discussion I was able to overcome some problems with getting the volume right. I did my best to make the mix work well, but still need more practice with the mixer, EQ and all that stuff. I am open to your feedback, but also a bit reluctant to touch this project more. I would very much like to submit it to ocremix, so I guess if it is not up to standards yet, I may have to dive back into it. Alright, enough talk. To the mix: Original track: Previous version:
  14. Hey everyone, I'm currently working on a track that starts off with a solo piano and slowly starts building off of that and adding a whole lot of new instruments as it progresses. Currently, I'm having two problems with this that I'm having difficulties fixing: 1. The piano gets 'too loud'. What I mean by this is that, at the beggining, the piano starts real quiet, playing at around -18 dB, and in the most intense parts, which may get even more intense later on, it goes up until +5 dB. These values make sense since there's a lot of dynamics going on with the piano, but I was wondering if this could be a problem, since it'll cause clipping. I've tried compressing it, but I feel like that ruins the entire dynamics of it and makes it lose its emotional power. 2. My violins are clashing with the piano. There's a part where both the piano and the violins together start rising and getting louder and louder and I can hear the violins being completely smothered and drowned out by the piano, which goes much louder than them. I've read online that these instruments play in very similar frequency ranges, which is probably the reason for this, so I was wondering what was the best way to go about this without sacrificing the sound of either of them. If my explanations don't seem too clear, I can provide a sample of the track so it's easier to understand. Thank you for the help :)
  15. Hey everyone! I just completed this solo piano arrangement of "Flowers Blooming in the Church" from Final Fantasy VII and I thought you guys might enjoy it. I had seen a handful of piano arrangements of this piece, but overall this version of Aerith's theme doesn't get the attention it deserves. For my arrangement, I really wanted to push that tragic and expressive side of this piece, while staying true to the original tune. I've also included a link to the sheet music download in the Youtube video description. Hope you guys enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!
  16. Want to officially release this on an album with art and such but eh you know don't really have a budget so an unofficial Soundcloud release until I can acquire the rights to this bad boy. Do I need to mention Soundcloud's terrible upload quality?
  17. Hey everyone. I recently completed work on a short medley from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening centering around Mabe Village, Inside the Houses and Richard's VIlla. This game has always been near and dear to my heart, so I wanted to put my own take on some of my favorite tunes from the game. I'm using this video as the starting point for a 3 part series of medley arrangements featuring music from Link's Awakening. Hope you guys enjoy this and have a wonderful weekend.
  18. Hello everybody, I can't believe how fast time has gone by since my initial post last year. I haven't completed my Volley Fire remix yet, but I haven't been sitting still either. I would like to share with you - for your enjoyment and perhaps feedback - a new piano piece I wrote and recorded on my digital piano. I name it Step by Step - it is a kind of exploration of different intervals and bass-styles. I'm a sucker for these emotional pieces and I'm particularly proud of this one. What do you think? Thanks for listening! Link to Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-227517766/step-by-step
  19. Hey OCRemix, This is a remix of the Cipher Syndicate's theme from Pokemon Colosseum. This has been a project for a month on and off as a friend suggested that I should remix this track and see where it goes as we both love Pokemon Colosseum! I'm still very much a greenhorn when it comes to composition and production, and I'm still very happy with what I made and can't wait for people to listen to it. I eventually want to be able to have remix up on OCR and would like feedback in terms of what I could do better on this remix, and others that will come after. I hope I can at least make someone's day with my music. Here is the source: .Here is my take on it. Thank you for listening to a newbie's remix.
  20. I've done Chrono Trigger arrangements in the past, but the short 14-second theme for "Manoria Cathedral" has always been one of my favorite pieces of music from the game. Since the original theme was so short, I decided to do an improvisation based on that theme and flesh it out. My good friend Nathan offered to transcribe the piece and ended up finishing it in just a few hours. The sheet music is linked in the video description. Hope you guys enjoy!
  21. Hello, OC ReMix. So, here's my first contribution: an ambient arrangement I've made a little while ago. I'm not sure if I will try to submit it or anything, but your opinions are greatly appreciated, for I am still learning, after all. As for more info on the piece per se, it's based on Iudex Gundyr, from the Dark Souls 3's Original Soundtrack, and I made it with the mindset of it being played in the background while you explore the Untended Graves before testing your meddle against Champion Gundyr. I hope you like it.
  22. I'd been wanting to tackle "Bonus Room Blitz" for years, and I always had it in mind to arrange it in a classical style. I ultimately decided on a more contemporary piano and string quartet. Also incorporated are bits of "Island Swing" and from DKC2, "Cranky's Conga". Hope you enjoy and thank you for listening!
  23. Here's a piece I've been working on. The piece came to me in a dream (a weird symbolic event to be sure), and I remembered it with perfect clarity when I woke up, so I opened my laptop and transposed this before I could forget it. I'm still ironing out some details of the composition and working on the EQ, but I'm interested in what you guys think. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fQbIF1Ls-QuNjSzouSJZMzetlSalgQLi/view?usp=drivesdk
  24. So here is my first Remix, but I think ist not so bad Do you like it? How is the Instrumentation and mixing? Any Feedback is appreciated. Thanks and I hope you enjoy! The Original: https://youtu.be/VEIWhy-urqM
  25. I know pronouncements for album releases here aren't as hot as they used to be, but I submit this work for your consideration and enjoyment anyway: I finally got to do a commissioned work for a visual novel and I contributed 12 tracks to the third game in a visual novel series called Without Within by InvertMouse Games. Not only is this my highest quality release to date, but it's also one of my most consistent and less electronic than before. I had to use more loop and phrase libraries to make that work since everything was still done in the computer and I can't play guitar, but the quality of the output speaks for itself. It fulfills my 15-year goal/dream to make music that puts my Chrono Cross inspiration full to the front AND I finally got to actually perform (with a piano) on a commercial music release instead of just sequence it (and it's not even any of the tracks that has a piano on it!) I don't get to sell this soundtrack as part of my contract deal with the commissioner, but for anyone who is interested in it, I'll post up a link here when that becomes available. Until then, please enjoy this work. I really got to break a lot of new ground here and I hope you're as pleased with it as I am! Composition, arrangement, mixing and further production: Meteo Xavier Mastering: Brandon Strader Album Artwork: Meteo Xavier using public domain images. Game available through InvertMouse Games.
