MacDaddy Mike
they ARE samples?! Wow...i had entertained the possibility cuz i thought there were a couple times the sax coulda slurred some notes instead of it being so staccato Yeah, right. Nothing about a sax here. frobnitz
This remix is excellent, I love to listen and dance along with it = ) I give it a 9.8/10 style sofistication uniqueness Good stuff!
StealthRPGcat
Brings back memories! Great song... Now i wish i had my old copy of Super Mario 3.... darnit...
Mirai Gen
Gahhh! HOLY SHIZ-ITE! I was laughing and crying and cheering all the time when I heard this. Hilarious, wonderfully remixed old school song. Got the funk! OK OK. The lazy swinging intro that models after the original track is a great touch. Another one is the well-performed drums, and the nicely played sax/trumpet later on about :45 in. And also the sax's groovin' add on at the end is WONDERFUL! Too damn good!
Horadrim_Bearer
I personally dislike this mix. It takes away some of the quality the actual theme had (and, back then, it was low quality) I blame the original being so poor for this poor remix... Firewraith
AmIEviL, I must commend you on this awesome mix. It has become my official theme music. XD I blast it when I'm just crusin' around my campus, and people either think I'm insane, or really dig it. And in fact, a few people even recognized it as your mix. ^^ Catchy as hell, I never thought I could like a song from SMB3 so much. Or bob my head so much to it. XD Keep up the great work! LibertyCabbage
hot skippy damn the instruments and the play was teh jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT!! too repetitive and boring, it had no spirit i think the problem was it didn't stray far enough from the original song... normally this would be a GOOD thing but the original song is too repetitive and boring so there's the problem just disappointed that it sounded so good but I didn't like it
The Protricity
This remix is stupendous! The beginning (in my opinion) is hilarious, and then it gets down to business with a great take on the original song. This remix, at times, kind of reminded me of the "Blues Brothers" theme from their first movie (one of my favorites). Good stuff!
Cano
OMG!!! I imagined a fucking goomba with a sax, dark glasses and a black suit, a koopa playing the battery, outfited the same, and another danged goomba playing organ in the background, outfited the same. all this while mario pulls up in a black lincoln or someting, outfitted the same!!! definately impressive. I always found this piece funny, but this one takes it to the limits of fun, and of koolness. you just cant stop tapping yer foot and bobbing yer head. awesome, and the overall mood of the song is really kool. one of the best remixes in OCR. Cano yay! the real song shoulda been like this.
kirbenvost
lol, this is awesome! such a funky and cool old-school sound... I like that electric piano (not to mention that little subtle synth near the beginning), and the ska-ish sound in the middle is really cool! AmIEvil just gets better and better. bouncerboy15
Great mix. Nice sax tone and such. 10/10!
Thornless Rose
Definitely one of the most memorable pieces at OCR. I love listening to this as it reminds me of my childhood days playing SMB3. I was never good enough to beat the levels so i'd just play in battle mode with my friends. 8/
Bren
DAMN. I love this song. I never get bored of it. I love that dirty sound the sax has (I dont know how else to describe it) and that first part the sax just pops in...blah I dont know what im saying so screw it...DOWNLOAD THIS SONG DAMMIT!!! Corporal Eschebone
Heh, I like the percussion in this mix combined with the saxaphones. Pretty good mix, possibly one of the defining mixes of OCR.
Great King Rat
Nice. First it doesn't take away from an already groovy bassline, then it adds a very nice melody, and those cheesy bits that I only usually hear on poor pop songs. The electric piano stops the melody from getting boring before the sax solo. The sax is very good. Bad sax = killer. This should be heard without hesitation
demosthene
Well. I can only assume that my brain somehow completely failed to function the first time I heard this, cause I didn't remember it at all. Then, just now, I played it accidentally while attempting to play something completely different and.... WOW. This just rocks. That's all there is to it really. Tex
Yeah! Great funky/jazz. The Battle Theme from Mario with saxophone and organs is excellent. I liked. Two thumbs up.

Nineko
ok, time to review "Peter Gunn's theme". oops, I mean "Battle Rocks" nothing to say, I love blues brothers, and other posts in this thread already tell about this similitude. amazing instruments here, wonderful blues arrangement, this masterpiece is awesome! my evaluation: 29/
Cheginator
Love it. Amazingly well done with a nice 'feel good' theme. Brilliant ending and a really great counter melody. Kudos and I'm looking forward to more just like this!
Opterion
Jazz is one of my favorite genres. Period. To see it this well done for one of the best games on the NES that I've played, Especially the sax work (it's what I play), is just what I should expect from someone like AmIEviL.
