Kat Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Some random Sonata Arctica tracks while I eagerly await October. Hyped for The Ninth Hour! I recently finished Ecliptica Revisited. It was pretty good as a re-release with some noticeable changes. It didn't deviate too much from the originals though - some songs were a step or two lower, or had slight tempo alterations. The mixing was kind of eh though. Garpocalypse 1 Quote

Kat Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Ingrid Gerdes is an amazing vocalist. So much emotion in that performance. Love how the drummer casually flips the brush to hit the crash before switching to sticks. Quote

Kat Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Enjoying The Ninth Hour so far. Fairytale is probably the most political thing they've wrote since "Zeros", even including a blatant line about Trump: "He's the superseder - builder of the walls, our great leader. He'll rape us all and say "Surprise!"". Then there's some song like Candle Lawns, an amazingly emotional song that leads into the album's 10 minute epic, "While Pearl, Black Oceans Pt.II". Overall the album is amazing, although the mixing isn't quite up to par. A lot of songs that have a lot of emotional orchestral writing are dominated by the guitars and bass. Still great, though. Gario Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I may or may not be listening to a Willrock/Lady Gaga mash-up. (correction: I most certainly AM listening to said mash-up) Quote
The Nikanoru Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 BIG GIANT CIRCLES I totally get a vision of Minecraft-like 8-bit pirates when I hear this. ARR! Quote
Kat Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Traditional far-east style music meets metal? I did not know this was a thing until now, but Wagakki Band is pretty much the best thing I've heard all year. That shakuhachi player is rocking it. Quote
