That playlist should include: duran duran, information society, new order, eurythmics, depeche mode, erasure, tears for fears, quadrophonia, house music, michael jackson, madonna, etc, etc.

I agree on the mention of Tears for Fears above, namely, the tracks "Mad World," "Shout," and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," are a key factor in any '80's playlist. I would also include music from Heart, Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, and Blondie.

- I'll be goddamned if that isn't one of the best choruses ever.

Also, late 80s but the Pixies are essential, as is Nine Inch Nails' first album, early Fugazi, Minor Threat, George Clinton, Giorgio Moroder, and a lot of others as other posters have mentioned.

How on Earth has this thread gone this far without THE LOOK OF LOVE?! EVERYONE NEEDS THE LOOK OF LOVE!

ABC - THE LOOK OF LOVE

SAMANTHA FOX - TOUCH ME

Hell, all of Michael Jackson's stuff. (for great justice:

DEAD OR ALIVE - YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND

Damn straight! Almost all of my favorite tunes were made in the 80s. Most of them are cheesy as hell, but damn do I love me some macaroni!

In before "I don't want no rap." Two from Salluz isn't nearly enough; shame on you:

Eric B. and Rakim - Paid in Full,

(this video is STILL fire)

Run-D.M.C. -

, Sucker M.C.'s (Krush-Groove 1)

Big Daddy Kane - Ain't No Half-Steppin', Mortal Combat

L.L. Cool J - Rock the Bells, Jack the Ripper

Public Enemy - Bring the Noise, Night of the Living Baseheads

Also:

Kraftwerk - Numbers/Computer World 2

R&B suggestions I'm virtually certain also won't be taken seriously:

Teena Marie - Portuguese Love,

Sade -

, Is It a Crime
