liquid wind Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 saw that a few hours ago, kinda mind fucked but I feel like I should have suspected something earlier, it doesn't sound right when played forward lol Quote
Overflow Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I want to hear this as the main theme for the game: Quote
Ajax Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Nintendo seems to be in the forefront of innovating new ways to recycle content. Quote
StigtriX Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Got to love the art direction! I don't care about what people say, it looks awesome to me! Why make a "realistic" version on Wii when the system is not capable of HD and advanced shaders etc. ? Wait for Zelda on Project Café/ Wii2/ Nintendo Stream for that. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess looked a bit washed out. For comparison: Twilight Princess Skyward Sword Looks awesome, but I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed that Link is likely to be right handed in all future iterations. They should set right-handed as standard because most people are right-handed, but they should also include the option to make Link left-handed. That way, everyone will be satisfied Quote
Brushfire Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Skyward Sword That is terrible looking. Nice flat trees. Quote
StigtriX Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 No different than in Twilight Princess. It is just less visible in that game because of the unnecessary amount of bloom etc. EWWW! Vegetation has as good as always been the weakness of design in games : / Quote
Malaki-LEGEND.sys Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Here's to hoping they actually make a conscious effort to change things up in the gameplay mechanics/progression. Playing Ocarina of Time over and over is getting stale. Quote

Games need to outgrow these bisected sprite trees and grass. Quote
StigtriX Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Agreed, mate! I honestly see no reason for it being so hard, especially in a game where the nature and surrounding are very important, it's unacceptable. Quote
Schwaltzvald Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Ah... making me wish it continued with the Twilight Princess aesthetics. Still most likely will get it though. Quote
Thalzon Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Fun fact: Back when Mario 64 came out, I noticed the trees would turn with the camera. In my 10-year-old mind, I thought it was awesome. Today, I see these kinds of trees and grass and I understand the limitations that require this sort of thing. I've tried building trees several different ways... And this is by far the best way to do low-poly trees. Not to say the trees here couldn't look better -- there's flat planes of leaves where an umbrella would look nicer -- but there is a reason games still use this method, and that's because nothing actually looks better for the same poly count. Brithor Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I won't be the one who judges a game based on tree sprites. Sounds obnoxious to me. Could it look better? Sure. Does it matter? I don't think so, at least not to me. Quote
The Derrit Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 i'm impressed that the last two pages or so have been arguing about tree leaf sprites from a screenshot nice work all around Quote
ocre Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I can deal with ugly trees. I just hope the motion controls don't take me out of the game. Quote
The Damned Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Hey, news update! North American release date of... November 20th, with a slightly earlier release for Europe. That's before christmas, which makes it a good christmas present (hint, hint, hint). Quote

Malaki-LEGEND.sys Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Looks like I'll be having another Zelda game to play on Thanksgiving as per Nintendo tradition. I put the rest of what I had in store credit towards its pre-order, so I'm set for an arm-flinging workout come Turkey Day. Quote
The Damned Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I guess I should get one of the MotionPlus things if I want to play Skyward Sword. Or can you get away without one? Quote
DarkeSword Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 I guess I should get one of the MotionPlus things if I want to play Skyward Sword.Or can you get away without one? You can't. It's required. Quote
ocre Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I was hoping they would pack one in... I don't think they're very easy to come by are they? I think it would be kind of dumb if they didn't pack it in. Quote
The Damned Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Hmmm... $20 or so for an add-on for a system I haven't touched in months, to play a game I'm probably only going to go through once or twice. You know what sucks? Years ago, when there were tons of games on all kinds of systems, I had no money to get any of them. I had to get new games for birthday and christmas presents, and had to decide what was best choice out of the few I could get. Now I can easily afford all the systems and get just about as many games as I want, but I have a hard time justifying the purchase as I find I have less time and interest in any of them (and that's not an age thing, we're talking about when I was 25, not a teenager). Fuck you, progression of time. Quote
EC2151 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 See I'm younger than that and I am having a hard time justifying a purchase of this add-on to play only ONE game. I mean, fuck. There better be some type of bundle. Quote
DarkeSword Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 You guys think way too much about this crap. Quote
