Although I despise this game to this very day, I absolutley love the soundtrack...

This one is pretty good...the flute at the beginning is perfect (though perhaps with a bit of vibrato it would have been made better, Im just not sure)

The drum selection is perfect...though I wouldnt go so far as to call them drums...it sounds like a filtered version of metal pipes being hit, which is by no means a bad thing, especially in this case...I absolutley love it.

Im not a huge fan of the way the drums kinda...stutter out for want of a better word. Perhaps putting them in time would make me like them but you didnt so Im not too keen...

But nevertheless, I really love this ^_^

Recommended to all!

Pretty chill during the intro. The beats coming in later weren't really my style, so I wasn't really with the groove, but everything was put together well nonetheless. I simply enjoyed the more ambient parts.

Dunno why this never got more recognition beyond a MIDI-ripper like Eccles (or for that matter why Alexis never bothered titling his stuff).

I'm not a fan of the flute sample used for the intro, but that's a matter of taste. It felt too fake for me.

The beats come in somewhat suddenly, would have liked more lead-in. Pretty standard fare, from what I'm hearing, but that's alright.

Having just reviewed Mutagene's SoTB 3 mix, I have the same comment from before, the melody seems way too far back, like it's being hidden. It worked in Purified, but I'm not fond of it here. I would have liked to see more melody up front.

Also, like his Purified mix (or the other way around most likely, I didn't look at release dates), I would have liked more expansion of this mix. I feel like it just gets started, then it's over.

Overall it's alright. I'm more of a fan of Purified, though.

I like the windy beginning, though it does go on for a good 1/4 of the mix (which I thought was a little bit unnecessary).

The beat kicks in a little bit heavy for me, and the high pitched drums don't really click with the flowing winds in the background. I did like the big melody portion, but I just think that more could be done with this mix. It feels like it's on a saddle point between getting really heavy or being a light, melancholy piece.

I put the tracks on endless repeat when I'm reviewing them, in case something strikes me in the heat of the moment, and I do really like the drums.

I really like ambient intros like this. It reminds me of Mr Roboto.

Its has aged well I think.

The drums could have been handled better tho. They just started with a bang. No fill, I would have liked to hear them gradually increasing in volume personally to start. Not to mention the lack of a strong kick.

However, they are well programmed.

I do like this mix not to many complaints, it makes good background music, which to be fair is what VG music is :D

Recommended.

This has an almost cinematic feel to it. I wish that drumline didn't stand out quite so much, the kick is just too jarring for my taste. There is all that wonderful ambient stuff going on in the background, I want the rest of this to feel meaty too! Oh well...

I still like it. A lot... I just pretend the kick isn't happening and all of a sudden this mix goes from a 5/10 to an easy 8.5... There's a lot going for it here, I can only hope the mix gets more attention in the future. Definitely worth a listen.

Might as well make things up for you after running into that Shenmue track this morning. o_O

No familiarity with the source or any way to check means I can only really check by means of actual writing. It may be well over 10 years old, but the ambient pads and pan pipe work you got going there were pretty sweet to open up with, and while the transition to the beat was somewhat sudden, it manages to provide a good sense of personality for its time.

It clearly shows its age now with the rising production standards, but in comparison with other tracks from this era it manages to fit just fine into that environment. I'd say it's not bad for what it is :)

Intro is actually really good and while I get what the ReMixer was going for with the beats and the kick, it just doesn't really work for me as it stands. That said, if given a revamp and a polish on those areas with today's tricks and techniques, this would be quite the fun mix. A decent go at the source, I'd say.
