Lemonectric Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Just finished it. Honestly, I'm a little disappointed. There was no challenge in any part of the game. I guess I really enjoyed it for all its classic elements from older installments, and the music was unbelievably great. Eh? No challenge? Define "finished" (with white text if necessary). Quote
RealFolkBlues Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Does playing as Luigi remind anyone else of Doom? That cracked me up when I thought of the comparison. I think I'm going to give it some time before I do another playthrough. I don't want my glowing memories of my first playthrough tainted in any way, shape or form. Quote
SilverStar Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Hey, at least the upgraded triple jump in SM64 is useful! At least, for mucking about anyway. The reason why it's better, is because the third jump makes you invincible to falls. And then you even get that extra little bounce at the end. Makes it fun! Quote
Crittertoon Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 God damnit I fucking hate the ball rolling stars. Err... language, dude. Quote

Lemonectric Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 the third jump makes you invincible to falls I don't get it. Quote
Bigfoot Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I don't get it. If you hit the ground from a high altitude, you take damage on M64. Quote
Neo Samus Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I noticed that too. It even works if you ground pound from a high altitude. Quote
Lemonectric Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Ooh, I figured he meant falling into emptiness. Which would make no sense at all. Quote
HideousBeing Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Eh? No challenge?Define "finished" (with white text if necessary). Finished as everyone here has dubbed it. I have completely completed the game. If you're a Mario 3D veteran, the game is simple. Still, that's not to say I'm displeased. Quote
The Mutericator Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 God damnit I fucking hate the ball rolling stars. Best stars in the game, right there. If you want to hate something, hate the ray surfing. Quote
HershDawg Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Best stars in the game, right there. If you want to hate something, hate the ray surfing. I hate both of them, but thankfully I got those stars. Quote
JH Sounds Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 "Super Luigi Galaxy!" made me LMAO so hard. EDIT: I think they deliberately doubled Luigi to avoid giving Mario a true voice. He is the "silent hero" aside from the usual catchphrases... Quote
Infinity's End Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 so what do you guys think of Luigi? I LOVE him. Jumps so high, runs so fast... I can't wait to go through all 120 stars all over again so I can get that last 121st star... ¬_¬ But still, at least he's in it, and at least he's playable, right? It's not like they just put a luigi skin on mario, he's got his voices and new animations and all that. I'm quite satisfied with Luigi, they really put time into him. Quote
Neo Samus Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I know. It's almost like a whole new game. I had to re-think some of my stratgies with Luigi because of the whole "greased shoes" effect. Quote

Not to much better than the first run`s bonus, but I`m just glad they did something. (I was kinda hoping for Toad to be playable as well for the SMB2 callback...Suddenly you run painfully fast or something.) Quote

(I was kinda hoping for Toad to be playable as well for the SMB2 callback...Suddenly you run painfully fast or something.) Wow. Just imagine. Super Toad Galaxy and Super Peach Galaxy. Toad doesn't jump as high (unless you crouch down long enough to start flashing), but has infinite star bits perhaps. And Peach does her little floaty thing. I want to replay Sunshine now. I know, I'm probably the only person in the world who really liked that game, but, hey, I'm not ashamed! Quote
SilverStar Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 The one thing I really, REALLY don't like about Mario Galaxy, beyond the small nags, is that the levels are far too linear. In Mario 64, and in many levels in Mario Sunshine, you were free to go wander the level all you wanted. There were certain goals that were emphasized, or a few small changes, but for the most part you could explore the entire level. In Mario Galaxy, you can't. :/ Quote

I know, I'm probably the only person in the world who really liked that game, but, hey, I'm not ashamed! Heh.. now we're talking parallel Galaxies? Princess Peach saving princess Peach!?! Also, Sunshine wasn't BAD. I liked it. It... just left me feeling violated for some reason. And thank the heavens that they didn't make the same mistake of hiring voice actors for Bowser/Junior in Galaxy.. Quote
Kutrayn Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Junior's Voice actor fit, I think... Bowser. Well, Bowser can never speak enough gutteral language to make up for the few lines of English he had uttered. Galaxy had a number of things it should have had unlocked after one or two 120-star runs, but they didn't. -Infinite Star Bits, the aforemntioned Toad/Peach playability (though that's a long shot), or most likely, unlock all the star warps in all the levels. Translation, take the (also aforementioned) linear nature away from the game and make it truly explorable (while adding a few warp stars so you can travel backwards and cut from one linear path to another). (Most) any prankster comet on every level? ...unlimited costume ability (fire flower for the remainder of level, w/toggle). The last star, lame as it was, did hold a small bit of circular satisfaction due to where it's found. Quote
Lemonectric Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 -Infinite Star Bits Except there's that whole coconuts -> watermelons thing when you get 9999 star bits. Which wouldn't be as awesome if they gave you infinite star bits. Anyway, those things are practically useless once you've fed all the hungry Lumas. Quote
Hum4n After All Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Ya know I still haven't beaten this game. I let my sister borrow my Wii along with Galaxy. All I needed was 11 more purple coin challenge stars. So what happens after you get them all? I remember um uh shit! I forgot that one chick's name, but uh yeah she said a new world would appear or something like that. Correct? Quote
Linkjing Donuts Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 how the fuck do you do luigi's purple coin level in toy time galaxy i need 5 more stars, but i know that purple coin star will be the one to stop me from playing for a week Quote

You're going to need them to get back on. Go right, right off the bat. Pretty much do a circle of the whole map, and just work your way back to the beginning since that's where the star will appear.
