  1. Man I'm sorry. What day is it??? Uncharted 4 came out and I already finished it and. Got good at the multiplayer. And I beat some punk who was trash talking in a 1v1 and didn't even gloat that much. Sorry for not remixing X.x

  2. It really depends on the combination of tracks. I usually find inspiration by listening to new-ish music and finding a style that could gel with the particular sources I chose/got matched up with. I don't really worry about any difference in key, and I just either transcribe it in my head or repitch a recording of the entire source tune if it's too complicated to transcribe multiple times in my head. Generally what gives coherence in a track I make is the sound design and the way I modify the motifs in one source to mesh with those of the other. If one track is minor-key and the other is major-key, I either would transition to a new mood and then back to the original mood, or change the mood of one source motif to make one cohesive major-key or minor-key track. A lot of this is practice, really. ----- As far as "is this too original", just listen back to the source tune, and if you can convince yourself that your interpretation reminds you of the original, then it's probably on the right track. For instance, I think this is recognizable (i.e. not too original), but it's certainly not a walk in the park to dissect: Source tune 1 (Cyber Peacock) Source tune 2 (Final Weapon) ReMix

    32 Bit Blues

Nice track, but the title? Doesn't feel "bluesy" to me really. Really nice ideas tho! Dig eet. Whats it for?

  5. Yeah, the delay was probably for the best overall. Thanks for the suggestions Mindwanderer, I'll keep those in mind in case it becomes necessary to start without the full roster. If anyone can think of anyone else who might be interested in the compo, feel free to summon them the way Chernabogue did earlier. Some of them seemed interested before but never followed up. Just five more people is all we need to make this happen.

  6. oh btw i remember my love for manowar now "The Gods Made Heavy Metal" In the beginning there was silence and darkness All across the earth Then came the wind and a hole in the sky Thunder and lightning came crashing down Hit the earth and split the ground Fire burned high in the sky From down below fire melted the stone The ground shook and started to pound The gods made heavy metal and they saw that is was good They said to play it louder than Hell We promised that we would When losers say it's over with you know that it's a lie The gods made heavy metal and it's never gonna die We are the true believers It's our turn to show the world In the fire of heavy metal we were burned It's more than our religion it's the only way to live But the enemies of metal we can't forgive Cause we believe in the power and the might And the gods who made metal are with us tonight The gods made heavy metal and they saw that is was good They said to play it louder than Hell We promised that we would When losers say it's over with you know that it's a lie The gods made heavy metal and it's never gonna die We believe in the power and the might And the gods who made metal are with us tonight We're here tonight for heavy metal are you ready in the hall They have chosen us and we have heard the call Gonna tear the roof off with our sound Crack the walls and shake the ground Fight tonight for metal one and all Cause we believe in the power and the might And the gods who made metal are with us tonight The gods made heavy metal and they saw that is was good They said to play it louder than Hell We promised that we would When losers say it's over with you know that it's a lie The gods made heavy metal and it's never gonna die i love this. anthems to the creation of metal

  7. New piece...Morning Commute Here we have Titus having his typical morning commute to Lockridge Industries in Hybolt City. What goes on during his day to day tasks? Who knows, but make sure you aren't one of those "tasks". Even the young boy looking behind him knows this guy is a bit scary hehe. http://fxscreamer.deviantart.com/art/Morning-Commute-609282191

  8. This always hovers over my head when composing so I intentionally try to put unexpected things into my songs, like key changes, non-traditional chord progressions and stuff like that. However, it's very easy to overdo it and end up with stuff that sounds terrible in an attempt to sound unique. I guess the easiest way to avoid this is to listen to different music and get as many inspirations as possible to avoid being too influenced by few sources.

  9. Every song's been sung before, every note's been played... every chords been strummed before, and every melody's been made!

  10. Exactly this. Everything you hear throughout your life builds your musical vocabulary. If you're trying to write a sad sounding piece of music, what do you do? You think of other music you've heard that makes you sad and try to do what that music did. Sometimes it will sound very close.

  11. You can't avoid it, everything is derivative of something, even if you've never heard it. The inspiration and influence pool among modern and even classical music is so diluted it's impossible to avoid. Just don't straight up rip a Kesha riff and you'll be fine, because that is legitimately plagiarism. It's not hard to avoid copying existing songs, but if you're just using the same key progression, don't worry about it at all.

  12. I would have rabidly supported any adaptation of any SEGA game... but then they made Sonic Boom. Already done. That was the best of the bunch and no it didn't really.

  13. This was the mix that got me into OCR. I even showed it to a couple friends who had played zelda 3 and said "isn't this the coolest thing ever?" The samples have shown some age, but I think they way they're processed helps them sound more realistic. The arrangement is very simple, but each element works really well. It also sounds like it's a natural fit for the darkworld theme to be done this way - the melody doesn't sound chopped up or that anything is taken away from it in the transition. The piano soloing in the middle doesn't knock yer socks off, but what's there is really effective. Still a really great mix, and one that I hope everyone hears.

  14. Pretty nice stuff, especially considering the age. I'd totally feel like a king at a restaurant listening to this. XD
