  1. Nice pads in the intro! The levels are a little off all around IMO. Pull all the volumes down at least 3db to your dynamics shine through. Change at 1:15 feels a little too abrupt. I get the idea is a medley, but probably focus on 1 main track to build all of the other medley's around. Otherwise the track just feels like 4-6 songs just mashed together instead of one cohesive vision with interchangeable parts. I def like alot of the individual sound choices.
  2. Awesome upgrade, haven't picked it up yet.
  3. For software plugins: http://plugindiscounts.com/ They have the cheapest markdowns of any place I have seen. Just picked up Waves H-EQ and Kramer Master Tape for $137 after including a $25 off voucher for buying H-EQ first. Both of those plugs are 50% off this month. If you have the CPU power H-EQ is flat out ridiculous. Models several vintage and digital EQ's extremely well.
  4. 1. Ryo Hazuki (Shenmue) 2. Proto Man (Mega Man) 3. Isaac (Golden Sun)
  5. Awesome track! Loved the ambient feel and movie score elements. Def a chill track to listen to.
  6. Cool video, great to see the process for selecting the right sample/sound for each note.
  7. Wow love the 3D backdrops and scenery graphics and style. Reminds of the 90's games.
  8. Watched both of these the other day, great to see your work processes. Love the OC lead with ES2 OA.
  9. Some people haves books on their wall...HZ has friggin modular synth modules.
  10. Agreed. Although the concept of a MegaMan FPS is pretty awesome, just not like this. The game didn't look/feel like MegaMan. For example, the Metroid Prime series still felt like Metroid.
  11. Start with the melody/hook. Get the basic chords down. Then I make a whole shit ton of ideas that all support that hook and the chords. Then I arrange those ideas in a manner to maximize their effect. I find this waaaaaay easier and creates more happy mistakes. Just overall it's way more fun.
  12. Hey dude, you got some great stuff there. You should def work out an audition track for the project.
  13. Music Theory, how to maximize the potential of melodies/chords using Music Theory.
  14. Here is a quick and easy benchmarking site that can help u better determine band for buck: http://cpuboss.com/
  15. Newegg and TigerDirect are having Spring warehouse clearing sales. SICK deals all around on everything.
  16. Thanks for posting this Vig. I share the same sentiment. I have no intention of coming off that way whatsoever. I am hoping people in general are intelligent enough to critical of anything they read. Mixing and mastering can be a massively relative process, especially depending on genre. I'll mix and master differently depending on the genre I am working in. The best mixing/mastering advice to try and everything out, and find out what works for you.
  17. Haha beautiful play on words. After reading this thread I basically agree 100% with what zircon brought up. No matter how talented you are, if you don't have business sense you're screwed. I do professional sound design on the side of my day job. Which for me is a nice happy medium that allows me complete financial stability, something I have rarely had in my life. Whatever you choose to do in life make sure you can emotionally handle it and are willing to roll with the good and bad parts.
  18. A compressor's gain reduction should visually move like an eye blinking. If you slightly compress every track, bus, and master you should end up with a full sound. If you need more compression on the master then you're mixing is probably off. If you want a more in your face sound from the master compressor, use 2 compressors in serial. Two compressors back to back that have a gain reduction of -3db will sound a helluva lot better than one compressor that has -6db. -6db is a little drastic IMO. Also -12db on RMS in general is a good RMS to be at for most genres.
  19. Thanks Brandon. Oh yeah the track is not a down tempo track.
