  1. Nice stuff dude, you've been gettin better and better. The rythms are def sweet. When the melody comes in it feels like it has too much verb on it. Lookin forward to hear more from this one.
  2. Congrats DA! How many takes did u have to do for this one again? I'm glad to see some of the WIP forum junkies get some of their tracks on OCR (u know im talkin bout u OA!)
  3. Yeah Komplete 3 is really the shiznite. I highly recommend it. Kontakt 2 is incredible. Absynth has a really high learning curve but it is ridiculous. I'm only starting to scratch the surface of Reaktor 5. Steam Pipe2 synth in Reaktor 5 is friggin awesome. Skrypnyk: For ambient style music spektral delay is a god send. The basic delay functions are wicked easy to use. Also with the vokator you can enhance the overall dynamics of your piece with just a touch of a button.
  4. alright tweekster... Intro: First 20 seconds I think having the strings be more pad like and thicker would provide some more emotion. :22 that percussion hit sounded really weak. Having it have some deeper more vibrating sound would really set the mood in the intro. Of course once the song kicks in you'll have to cut back a lil bit on how boomy it is otherwise you'll muddy up everything. In the main part of the mix those hits sounds fine to me. :42 I hear a faint harmony that is beautiful. It is being played maybe C7 yet it is not coming through the mix as well as it should. Boost some of the high EQ of that puppy, u got some sonic space to use in that range in the intro make use of it. That same harmony ur using their, try using it again in a breakdown section or somewhere if it fits right, it really sounds good. The arrangement is def good, I feel this could use some more energy to the mix though. But I bet sephfire can give you more specific advice on how to boost the energy level of this. From 1:31 the EQ from the main sections seems right on. Nice even line across the board. Maybe in the breakdown sections you could have some FX sounds sweeping across cutting through on the higher freq levels. Overall I think some side-chaining is in order to really kick this mix over the top. How about layering synths and natural strings together and automate them. Also modulate the volume levels between the two for some more sonic goodness. It looks like you got some room around the 320hz level to implement this. Also try to implement some panning back and forth on different elements, that could really be a nice touch. If you wanna hear some good panning effects go acid planet and check out reforged, he really pans the ever living crap outta of his songs. His tetris mix on the site also has some real effective panning done to it. http://djpretzel.web.aplus.net/songs/Tetris_Thirty-Plus_Mix_OC_ReMix.mp3 I def like where this mix is goin, you have def laid the groundwork to make a pretty kick ass song.
  5. i don't take u for a kid. For my 2 cents timing does seem a lil off. Like some parts are a half a beat too soon in some places. Easy fix.
  6. I def like this one. The emotion created from the detuned guitar fits perfectly with the emotion from the composition. I've been waiting for really chill ambient piece for awhile. This def fits the bill.
  7. OMG Splunkle album ahhh Ur mastering abilities have def gotten better. I like the first 3 the best. On the fourth one I thought the rythms were good and the melody was good but they didn't fit together well. Overall pretty solid, i'd say u def have the skills to master ur Ur-Quan mix now.
  8. sweeet If I could find some damn midis from this game I'd def do a remix from SotC in the future. VGMusic doesn't have any yet.
  9. Sweetness I was hoping someone was goin to cover that. Foxhull(rpggamer180) is pretty busy right now so he might not have a chance to update the 1st post for a bit. But that source tune is def yours. Also to any potential remixers make sure you send a PM to both Foxhull(rpggamer180) and myself. I'm on basically everyday, or you can just post here. ocremixfan: Still waiting on the wip for the shattering dream egg, i know the person who is goin to do it is pretty busy. Patience is def a virtue in this case.
  10. Not bad dude, I wouldn't submit either of them yet though. You do have some nice ideas. Mastering isn't near the bar. The instruments need to sound better. Of course you can fix that with mastering. Also layering with different instruments could reall help you out. Read the stuff in these two, and then go back and see what you an do. http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=68216 http://www.tweakheadz.com/guide.htm
  11. fl studio's website also has tons of videos showing you hands on what to do.
  12. Don't u want some feedback on it before you send it to judge row? There are awesome songs that get rejected all the time.
  13. You got a firewall enabled either through windows or norton? Make sure you only have one firewall running. Norton has a better firewall than windows so if you can use norton's. Also in any browser you should be able to set the limit on cookies and enable some type of pop-up blocker.
  14. You'll find them on their own seperate web pages. They are linked from the the site. Some of the remixes from the project will be featured on OCR depending on who wants to submit and what gets accepted. Go to the projects tab at the top of the page then albums to see all of the projects that have been released. Also on the front page of OCR you can see pictures wuth links to the moost recent site projects. Such as Project Chaos and Blood on the Asphalt. Welcome dude.
  15. I guess that's why the first thing it tells me is that I must run IE4.0 or above on a Windows system. Hey it's free ain't it? Besides if you don't have IE4 by now E-Trust prob came about before firefox and some of the other browsers started to take over, hence it's only compatible with IE. Another more user friendly solution is Trend PCilin. It's another anti-virus program you can use. It uses up a helluva lot less system resources than norton, and is about like $30. Try to find a demo of it somewhere so you can run a scan.
  16. I like it dude, the only grip I would have is in the beggining middle section where the beat suddenly stops. At least having some sense of decay or lil change in rythm right before it drops out would be good. Besides that crap this is def some ambient goodness, keep it coming dude.
  17. http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx That's an online virus scanner. Many IT professionals use it when cleaning up computers.
  18. diddo
  19. i concur soundtrack is awesome. sephfire has a remix from SotC floating around the WIP forums. I just wish they were some midi's made from the soundtrack, as I can't play by ear sadly. Def one of the best OST's
  20. Oh good news there is someone to do the song This certain individual is def well suited to remix this song. I'm gonna announce who it is after they post their WIP in the private forums, which will be anytime now. Also I need some reason to keep on shamelessly bumping this thread all the time. I just want to be 100% sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that they're in. So in the meantime 'Shattering the Dream Egg' is claimed, and will hopefully stay that way.
  21. Oh yeah zircon's tips are a good quick read with some valuable info. Here are some more tips, but it's a longer read. http://www.tweakheadz.com/guide.htm
  22. Fl Studio is actually a really good program. It is a great program to use bc the step sequencer/piano roll is friggin awesome. It's work flow is really easy. You can use just about any effect or synths sounds you find in the FL. So yeah you kinda need to get some new synths apart from the fl presets. Sytrus is good, just learn how to use it. Vanguard is an awesome synth if u are doing techno/trance. If you have the money anything from native instruments will fit the bill. Go here and you'll find links to a million places: http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=92175&start=0 I say the biggest thing is to pick a few synths and really learn how to manipulate and create sounds with them that will help you out the most. I really only use 3 synths so far: Absynth, Sytrus, and Vanguard. Or sometimes I take natutral instruments and process the ever living shite outta them to create new sounds. Also learning some serious but basic mastering techniques will help you out a lot. Being good at EQ'ing will go a long way in your songs.
  23. I think I might have someone who can do it, I'll see if that person is still interested. fingers crossed I think the vocoder on the sax would prob be better.
  24. Sweetness been waiting for this to get posted. It was beautiful sounding when it was in the WIP section, and still friggin beautiful now. I def think the pieces strong point is it's emotion. The feel of the melody reminds a bit of the ending song to the last episode of Full Metal Alchemist, which is an absolutely killer song. Besides all that jazz I got a one sentence review prepared for this: It is tasteful, exsquisite, and flows like a fine wine.
