  1. This mix is a bit on the plain/simple side, but not a bad thing necessarily. It's clearly meant for some fun and I think the shortness sort of puts some emphasis on that. Not a bad mix at all.
  2. Come on you all, you all can review more! Don't let me hog all the fun like Rexy said!
  3. Just a comment more for future compos - is there any way to reduce the # of mixes to vote for? It's an awful lot...and quite time consuming.
  4. But it won't be the same anyway, since everyone goes to this one!
  5. So Vilecat and I were talking earlier in #ocremix - Terranigma could use some mixing love. Light and Darkness A Place to Return to An Unforeseen Event The Departure The Trials Inside the Door The Gift The Land's Awakening Prayer Further into the Wide World The Giant Tree's Underground Evergreen The Sacred Summit Fukan Zue The Willful Lion Those Who Stand in the Way Town Overcoming Everything The Way Home And more:
  6. I've always loved this mix from when I've heard it back in 2002, and still do. It has a certain charm to it with the vocals and an upbeat yet sad setting. Definitely a favorite of the old mixes on the site!
  7. This is a nice mix of Legendary Hero. It builds up towards the end , like a slow sustained unveiling of a legend. Something sounds off about the orchestra to me - perhaps humanization or samples is an issue? The track is quite old though so I can forgive that. The arrangement is solid and still enjoyable regardless.
  8. I never commented on this mix? Strange. This mix sits in an interesting area. The arrangement itself is fine, but it does seem to shed a little of the grandiose sound that the original has. It does have some of its own charm to it, but not as much as the great grand feel that the original has. It is a good example of a reinterpretation though, and I'm glad that this mix is around. The song does sound a little on the thin side though - I do wish there was some more instrumentation to it.
  9. That logo is failure - no MMX, really?
  10. This mix is a little on the quiet side for me. It has a brooding feel to it, making good use of an interesting combination of a small portion of orchestration to compliment a primarily piano dominant song. The concept is certainly executed pretty well here, so a congrats on a first mix to pu_freak! Bout time you broke through!
  11. So many albums...and MR isn't even the end of the trail. We have enough albums queued up to last several months, and that queue will only get larger.
  12. This mix is intriguing for a trance mix. I do wish it was louder overall in the beginning. That lead synth also seems a little on the loud side later on. The overall build of the song is pretty nice though.
  13. Jeebus, I never posted on this mix either? This mix is gorgeous, we need more of your funk around. I can't believe it's a one man show.
  14. As much as I can dislike big bassy tracks, I'm quickly starting to love what I hear from PrototypeRaptor. There's always such a sweet groove. This song is as fun as others I've heard .
  15. More orchestral! In fact, an electro orchestral hybrid! Justin is getting quite good at his craft and combining his different styles. This particular song is short and sweet, but it is a great track to loop - I can imagine this played in a game.
  16. Now this is what I call dark. I'm not so familiar with source, but this is what I think of when I think of a badass. It's not always pretty, but it's going to bash your head into the wall. Not a fan of the ending though. Definitely a good addition to the OCR annals!
  17. This was a surprising mix for a darker album - I wasn't expecting a full on orchestral take on one of these themes. It has an almost film-like quality to it, where you can imagine a protagonist going through some adversity. My only complaint is that I wish it took advantage of what it set up for a frantic buildup into something crazy, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I love the atmosphere that's there though.
  18. That intro to the song made me think of Inspector Gadget, although I know that's not where that intro originates from. This is a nice chill bad guy tune where you're rocking and doing your own thing. The guitar adds a nice touch here - we don't get to see a whole lot of that from Jimmy. The song builds pretty nicely while still maintaining that chill pace. Solid work overall.
  19. Wow, this mix has only a few reviews. CarboHydroM has a sweet sound overall. His punk rock style is great and there's few if any that really does anything like what he does. This is yet another solid mix by him. I wish he subbed more of his stuff .
  20. Jordan brings us some solid electro house to the arena here. Can't say this mix would make you doubt his prowess at all .
  21. What I find amusing is how much everyone loves this song - I like Sixto's other MM9 song more . The song does rock hard though. I think Juan did a good job accomplishing what his goal was. It is just missing some vocals to go along with that anime feel . There's a lot going on here though.
