No, it really shouldn't hurt that bad. It might feel awkward, but if you are feeling pain, it is probably either because you are too tense, or have your wrist or arm at the wrong angle. If you continue to hold it the wrong way it can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome. I would try and find a private teacher, and maybe take a couple lessons just to make sure that you are holding the instrument correctly. The hardest thing about holding it, is that there are so many little things that you might be doinh, and they can cause your entire hand to cramp up. I had a student who just needed to bring her arm in a little bit, and it fixed her entire hand position, and it didn't hurt anymore for her to play. Good luck!

Not really a very old memory but I'll share anyways. I'm student teaching high school strings right now, and a few students have stumbled upon the Shadow of the Colossus remix I did on viola a while back. I have a small fan club forming which is kind of fun and it's all thanks to OCR.

Ahhh the piano in the beginning is so nice, but the synthesized brass and strings seemed a little out of place. The piece over all though is really great though, I really did enjoy it. I wish it were live instruments, but I guess you can't always have that. Nicely done!

Yeah, I'm kind of ridiculously excited for the fall. I know where my high school strings placement is, and I'm going to have a friggin army of string players - there are two high schools in the district with a total of like 300 string players or something ridiculous. Still haven't heard about my elementary general music placement yet though...that should be fun too though.
