That can be a good idea, but as Rozo said, this is really big for a project. OCR's biggest project are 3 or 4-discs albums and they needed a huge amount of work. But if you're sure you can handle this, I'll wish you good luck with your project!

The best thing to do is to listen carefully to some some songs that use drums. You can also try FL Studio's FCP to learn some drum patterns in different genres.
