  1. Hey, if you don't manage to make it on the final track I could always use a good male tenor... In fact, I could really use a good male tenor, like, right now. Seriously.
  2. NO. Please God, no. One of the reasons TWEWY is great is because it's not 3D. Also, is there no franchise that KH will not consume? Really, I don't hate the KH series but I never did like the fact that everything popular in Square + Disney seems required to be churned through that machine. On the bright side, this confirms that TWEWY is popular - possibly enough to warrant a second game. Hopefully one that retains some of it's visual aesthetic appeal.
  3. Again, there's no reason we can't vote for more than one participant. He has the right idea, here - post about his participation in a VGM forum and ask people to support him. Which is what I'm doing now. I don't know if there's any possibility of editing tracks (probably not), but for future reference editing out the inhaling sounds would remove the disconnect it ends up creating. That's the beauty of recording - you can remove imperfections that are physically impossible to remove otherwise . Your voice is great, btw. Don't worry - you still have my vote.
  4. Alas, not Sarah's Song. Even still, OneUp has good taste.
  5. Hey, if you're in the top twenty you make it on. I see no reason for the OCR community NOT to support you - having not one but TWO remixers on the bill would be pretty awesome.
  6. Actually I was talkin' about my Wily Machine mix (I wasn't planning on a Concrete Man mix... well, not really, anyway). I'm also not putting the legwork into continuing that track, since it's old and I've got other things.

HOWEVER, if someone suggested it to him and he agreed then that would twist my arm into remaking the Wily Machine track :P

Just sayin', is all. Maybe I'll make a Concrete Man remix, just for shits and gigs, now.

  7. Pfft, what're YOU talkin' about, BCG? ... Jillain IS the second place girl right now, silly. She can't be better than herself.
  8. Yes, I'd gather he liked the game since he actually said he liked the game from the offset.
  9. Yeah, I'm noticing that there's quite a few games that Gamestop rarely stocks - if you have time perhaps you should go the good ol' e-bay/Amazon route?
  10. Here we are - the 15th. Y'know, deadline, and all.
  11. I just got Elite Beat Agents for three bucks. I take it you're saying that's three bucks well spent?
  12. I don't think this forum is here for people to post other musicians remixes (a mod can clarify this for me, but I'm pretty sure I'm right). Even if it were, most people do not like to look at zip files (especially .z7 format). If you have your own music to post here, I'd be more than happy to hear it. Otherwise...
  13. Some effects could help, yes, but the effects you applied to the track made them sound even more mechanical and non-realistic, not less. For the string writing (thanks for the non-edited cut, btw), it's pretty sweet, save for the melodic portions getting drown in the mix. The important lines should stand out better than the rest of the track. Otherwise, a touch of reverb should be more than enough to hide the few mechanical imperfections in the track - the sampling & humanizing is actually pretty darn good. I don't have too much more to say, it's pretty awesome, in my book.
  14. The strings do sound better. Not perfect, but what can you do with a limited sample. Yeah, throw this one to the mods. They might get it with the whole conservative aspect of the track, but then again maybe not - this IS quite an interesting sounding track.
  15. I work with music that annoys me more often than not, mostly to challenge myself. I'm pretty happy with the results when I do this, too, so... yeah, people can make good remixes of tracks that they find annoying, if they really want to.
  16. Yeah, I really like it overall. Strings are giving you some trouble? I don't know about your setup, but I think there's a way to get the strings to start their sound at the looping point rather than the beginning of their attack. If you used Reason's sampler I could explain it better, but by the sound of it you are not (thank God). There are ways to bypass the attacks in the middle of phrases, but it's not really easy. The effect can be worth it, though.
  17. Haha, oops, I didn't really take a good look at the due date - placed it right in the middle of the week, there, didn't I? While I'll still hold to that date, I'm giving a two day grace period for those that need the weekend to give the music a little more love. Anyway, y'all have a week to report in. Hope to hear some more magic from you guys!
  18. I second Lv99 - The glockenspiel is a badass name and a kickass instrument. Anyone who calls them 'bells' or the sort needs to get their head examined. Yeah, as DrumUltimA mentioned, having really low notes on a glockenspiel can be distracting because they don't exist irl. His suggestion to used tubular bells is a good one - try it out. Otherwise, my only gripe is the strings - they're good, but a little on the unnatural side. They all sound like they're using extreme detache for every single note with their fade-in attacks. Try to adjust the attack of the strings so they don't swell for every note (especially the relatively fast notes). Otherwise, I love it. Keep the glockenspiel alive, bro.
  19. I hear a couple of things that this track wants to be - string orchestra, chill groove, gated strings. Two of those things don't seem to work, though - the drums are not prominent enough to really belong in the track (nor do the strings really accomidate for them, anyway), and the gating doesn't have much reason to be there other than to just... be there. The string writing that's here, though, is great. You know, I think you should post a clean, no effects, no drum edit of the track. Let's see what you really have here - I can't say for sure, but with a few tweaks you might have something excellent, here. The string writing is superb, so showcase it a little bit.
  20. Happy birthday, mah man. Always nice to see someone I know get their b-day celebrated .
  21. The World Ends with You is possibly the single greatest game to come out of Squaresoft. Yes, I'm aware that the FF series was good, and Chronotrigger/cross were amazing in their own right, but it could possibly trump them, IMHO (hard to say... FF6 and Chronotrigger were pretty awesome, themselves - a tough call for sure). Don't do any research on the game (how the game's mechanics and world open up throughout gameplay is half the fun), and approach it with a pretty open mind, and you'll be in for quite an experience. The story is about 15 hours, but then the game really opens up sandbox-style. You can easily put in 70+ hours discovering just how much Square put into this gem. It's not for everyone, though - the modern Japanese aesthetic is a big turn-off to many people, and the use of almost every hardware function for the DS (often simultaneously) can be daunting. Oh yeah, and if you get it promise to remix some of the soundtrack with Jillian - it's sorely under-represented, and since it's almost all vocal music the both of you could really do some magic with it. Let's see... If you don't have Bowser's Inside Story, that's pretty good, too (if a little short-lived). FFIV for the DS is quite well done - if you want to revisit that game with a serious difficulty overhaul then check it out (even if you already have the Advance version - they've made many significant changes to it to make it worth paying again while leaving the 'Spoony Bard' dialogue intact). If you have an RD card you could get the translation patch for the Saga 2 remake for the DS. Hey, they took out random battles, so it's certainly an improvement from the (stellar) original (unfortunately, unless you know Japanese then there isn't any other way to play this game). The Megaman Zero Collection (may as well get that one, rather than collect all of them for the GBA) has some of the best MM gameplay I've seen, if you're into that kind of thing (and who isn't?). Be prepared for the ridiculous difficulty curve, though - every game is a notch or two above the normal 'Megaman' difficulty curve. The ZX series is... meh, alright, I guess, but I don't really recommend them. Scribblenauts is a fun game. It just is. Seriously, what other game can you give God a chainsaw and have Him duke it out with Chthulu? (God wins, by the way) Warioware (for the GBA, especially) is like crack. You'll get freakin' hooked for a good 4-6 hours before you can put it down. Ogre Battle - Knights of Lotus would probably be up your alley, if you like strategy RPGs. It's Ogre Battle and it's a SRPG - you probably know what you're geting. Those are my picks, anyway. In all seriousness, though, play TWEWY, even if not on this trip. You won't regret it.
  22. Ooo... GaMetal, is it? I better keep an eye on this guy & his metal. It kicks some abnormally major ass, here.
  23. Gario

If you're on any time between now and... ever, you're still on the Lufia II project. Get in touch with me on AIM or Skype (probably Skype) and we can discuss what we can have going, bro.

  24. ... listening to more and more of what she's done, she really is an incredible musician. That voice is immaculate, and I'm glad she's been recruited to the side of VG arranging and composing .
