  1. I gotta knock my low-level coruses out before I go into my major. My desire major is Music Theory and Composition but I'm thinking Interactive Media. I love being a submissive bitch. So actually ask to be paid. Alright. Naw, imagine a big black man as a clown? Kids today already hate clowns.
  2. inb4drama Remixers: You're better off doing some techno or electrical music. What's wrong with orchestral music? Also, what kind of orchestral music you're looking for? Original? Remixes?
  3. Okay, for right now, let's say fuck the QA Testing. I always heard that for internships and freelancing that you should ask for little or no pay so that the company can see that you're not just doing the composing for the money while they check out if you're good enough for them. I also want to know if any performances outside of college (such as church) will help me on my resume on terms of music for video games? Honestly, I'm at the time of my life that I'm really need to start thinking about what should I do for a source of income.
  4. Actually, music can be very a competitive field. Believe me, the musicians in my school were extrememly competitive and musicians in general are. Game companies want people who can give it their best and not fucked up. I heard they want composers who know what they're doing and know how to make the music go along with the game and the emotion of the game. However, telling somebody to give up is bullshit. ]Eh, somewhat. However, you need some real world experince with music like if oyu play with a college orchestra or wrote a song or a score for a college play or hell, something outside of college. Also, I heard it's good to know the techinal side of composing- Computer hard and software.
  5. Atmuh, I like you, you're a good member, but just saying "no" usually does't cut it for me unless you have a reason. http://www.seattleweekly.com/2007-07-11/news/testing-video-games-can-t-possibly-be-harder-than-an-afternoon-with-xbox-right.php?page=full - I've read that in the past. Some things I already knew such as it is not just playing a video game but I never knew it was that cutthroat.
  6. I heard it was a decent way to get into the industry and I myself actually want to compose music for video games, translate/localization (spelling?) video games, or design them as a career. Is being a tester truly a good way to get into the business or is that a load of shit? Also I know the following: -It is very tedious -You can not take the games home with you (Common sense can tell you that.) -It's a very cut thort job and many people have been fired from it. -You should think about getting a second source of income if you're a tester (Or so I heard).
  7. Yes, for Japanese music majors in schools, they're teaching kids to play Theme of Love.
  8. Ah man. Is that so, huh? It could like you stated, the lack of knowledge of the original source material. Maybe the PLAY! was a little side project and The Seattle Symphony wanted to go back to their original works. I seen grade school children arrange, conduct, and even perform better than what the New Japan Philharmonic did with that crap. Sweet god, NJP should be ashamed of themselves! =P I excluded shows like VGL amd Play! to set a mindset that video game music haven't gotten that respect in America that American orchestras will do video game music (which is obviously not true).
  9. Yeah, if you think about it, a lot of orchestras in America are doing music from movies and T.V. shows. It might happen in a few years.
  10. While I was listening to a live orchestra arrangement of Fire Emblem 4 music, something popped in my mind; Why is that in Japan that video game music is extremely popular, so popular to the point where orchestras in that nation would arrange and perform music for video games while in America, video game music does not get that much respect (I'm excluding concerts such as Video Games Live for this topic.). I know that video game music is gaining some respect in America, but you don't often see famous orchestras like the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra or the Chicago Orchestra perform video game music but Japanese orchestras such as the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra see something in video game music? That's was just on my mind. I can not think of anything else on this subject.
  11. The opening was one of the most amazing things to be shown on T.V. No words can detail how beautifully done it was! I was in awe! Let's hope the Dream Team (Team USA's Basketball team) will not fail as like they did four years ago.
  12. One of the best, undderatted movie of all time. It deverses a few Adacamey Awards. DOA put Mortal Kombat to shame. As long as it stays faithful to the original series, I don't give a damn and even if it didn't or ruined the series, I'll be a bit upset but I wouldn't be a butthurt fanboy about it.
  13. Damn DJ, you're getting married, you got a video game soundtrack deal, and it's your birthday! Man, you got it good! May God (or whoever your believe in) bless you man! Don't party too hard to get drunk or anythign!
  14. I'm going to rip-off everyone's statement and say this: It's never too late to learn anything new. Hell, there was a kid I knew who only been playing for four years and was freakin' amazing (damn Asians. Eh, he had an ego however.) I dunno a good beingerner insturment besides the keyboards/piano. You could try a string insturment like the violin but the violin's so damn hard to learn from time-to-time.
  15. I haven't rent a game in such a long time. Since I couldn't afford video games back when I was a kid, I would used to rent games. Eh, I buy games now once their prices have dropped.
  16. Glad that you're doing well Blind! May Christ (or whoever your believe in, or don't ) keep you in good health!
  17. So the localiztion guy hired his family members to do the voice acting. Man, that's sad. The voice acting is so damn . . . wow.
  18. I'm not that much of a visual person so I don't see a need to "view" music. However, for the sake of this topic, my personal vision of music to seeing what I wrote down on paper when I am arranging or composing music and play the notes in which I had wrote. I see what I can add to the song such as dyamincs, addcidentals, rythm, bowing, etc.
  19. I have pray to Christ that he'll recover. This is sad news and I do not want to lose another great OCremixer.
  20. Naw man, I think it's a conspiracy by OC Remix to fuck with my mind. They're out to get me! =P And dammit, from what I seen in the screenshot, it look like a port. Fuck you Sqaure.
  21. These are a few I know on the top of my head. Minor Firsts: Dead or Alive Ultimate: First in the series to gain a "M" rating (due to the infamous rape scene that involed Ayame [Ayane, Ein, and Kasumi's mother] and Raidon and the obvious) Final Fantasy VII; Barret is the first black main character of the series Super Smash Bros. Melee: First time Mario (as well as many others) is in a "T" rated game. Fire Emblem 4: First in the series to use a paper-rock-sissor system. Major Firsts: Jurassic Park: The Lost World (PSX): First game to use an original live orchestral score Final Fantasy VII: First time to use a choir for music (One Winged Angel) Final Fantasy VII: First time a main character was killed in 3-D Star Fox 64: First to use a rumble pack. Fire Emblem: The Light Sword and Dark Dragon: First SRPG. Fire Emblem 4: Seisen no Keifu: First time a Fire Emblem lord was killed off (Sigurd). Fire Emblem 4: Also I think it was the first time to have a relationship system.
  22. Please die! =) Sonic Heroes' Main Theme.
  23. All I can say is about fuckin' time! But one thing I don't get: Why everyone juding the game already in terms of content when we haven't seen any screenshots or heard any music as of yet? (HOLY SHIT!!! As I post this, there's a image of Crono in the upper-right area of my computer screen!)
  24. Yeah, because outdated OS going to be so much more advance down the road. Hey, hey! While everyone being a bit off topic, here's one thing PC users can do that Mac users can't: 3,449,238 Mac fans switched back over to Windows, even though Windows is just as shitty. -Maddox
