Metroid Prime ReMix- The Hope of The Galaxy
SoulinEther replied to Nabeel Ansari's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
snare.. loud. that or make everything else sound more powerful/loud/present. I could see the snare working honestly (in an 80s kind of way), but everything else needs to be louder. gario called it a fattening of the sound. that's a good way to put it. -
i've checked "How to Win at Nintendo Games" out from the library. yeah. A library. It's a lot like the internet, just smaller and dustier... with the same random creeps that make you uncomfortable.

Kind of Bloop: Miles Davis for NES
SoulinEther replied to Sam Ascher-Weiss's topic in General Discussion
This'd make a good gift for one of my friends.. I'm sure he'd get a kick out of it. Then kick the shit out of me for presenting to him chiptune jazz. Well, I'd think he'd be open-minded though. Will the album art or w/e be downloadable without having to make the $30 donation (to make this a presentable gift)? Do we even have to pay at all? It's been backed like... 350%. Could we still donate (after the two day period)? -
Seems to me like he's starting things off with J~E~N~O~V~A? Which I think may be musically related to Prelude, or something. Given the current length that's a rather long intro which might benefit from more of a build up maybe? but since it's not complete I can't really say. The piano isn't coming through very loudly with the synth drowning it out. I don't recognize the second tune at all, lol. The whole Final Fantasy series has lots of music to pull from so that's likely. Medleys and OCR aren't the closest dance partners (what a terrible metaphor.. so why am i leaving it there?). I'm not sure what your (either yours or his) goals are with this so .. if you're going for a purer medley, then some criticism concerning rearrangement is moot. i've shit production skills so if anybody else has anything to say in that department, as usual, i'll leave it to them..lol. I'm curious to hear where this'll go.

well... it's coming while you figure out how to get it into a better format.

whoa you have a birthday... happy (belated?) birthday.

It seems like there are fewer games these days that let you do that. Or that people would be willing to give up (or pick up)..

sexy is a red color. i mean, sexy is a... i mean... red is ... yeah, i think you point my got. -
You mean this? Poor photo quality courtesy of my blackberry in the dark. I was born in '90 but my first console was an NES.. usually if I was stuck somewhere my brother would help me, or I'd just sit at it until I could figure out the challenges. ZOMG, figuring things out, what the hell is that? It seems like none of the new games have challenges anymore, or stuff that they don't tell you. Even some old games are like this, too. I just finished FFIV through an emulator (SNES, making it FFIV easy-type/FFII) and my monitor doesn't have good contrast when looking at it from below. When I got through a bit of the game and saw that the paths through walls and stuff were clearly marked by lighter-shaded tiles, I was surprised. Where's the challenge in that? Especially toward the end (where I had never been before), the challenge of the game wasn't figuring out where I needed to go next, but how to survive while getting there. Grinding took up most of my time. If those paths weren't clearly indicated, my priority would have been figuring out where to go to get myself to the end of the game. Walking around in the moon core would have given me enemies to kill and thus levels while still feeling like I'm doing something purposeful. So this isn't a new phenomenon, but it sure has been disappointing. I've been playing games more for the story than anything, and just for the sake of seeing how the game ends rather than for the challenge the game (doesn't) bring(s).

Nice Marriage Andy & Jill! (Pics posted)
SoulinEther replied to anosou's topic in General Discussion
why, congratulations. here's to years of happiness. and uhm, maybe a few remixes. please? -
lol. some of the negative reviews are odd. and i think they've already been addressed MOVING ON k. so ... i've been playing ffiv again right? And that one sorrow song brought tears to my eyes a few times. Whenever something depressing happens in the story. piano. arpeggios going on. it's like the main theme all down-tempo and stuff. yeah. So rozovian makes a remix of it right? yeah. it's pretty enthralling stuff. you'd think that repeating arpeggio thing would get annoying considering how slow the rest of the work is, especially in the beginning, but it doesn't. it slaps you into a vibe. a vibe I like. And i'm going to capitalize this review a little ofF. Very nice stuff from rozo. What does lacrima mine? it means tear in latin. i looked it up. i think its a fitting title. oh yeah. and that one guy. Audix. I would play your battle theme during the real battles in game... because it's just that awesome. i've heard talk of it sticking to structures. but the only thing it's sticking to is my mind. and maybe my ear(s). it's possible my earwax is playing it. and i might not be the only one suffering a case of your-song-being-stuck-in-my-head-and-or-ears syndrome. Survival Instinct is sexy. especially that transition into battle 2. s-e-x-y. cyril. man. thank you. metal mage was trippy and fun, and rydia's theme was emotive. the words aren't coming, so trust that i am doing some sort of interpretive dance right now in front of my webcam-less computer to explain how i feel about these pieces of art. they're not leaving the party in my mind. or my phone. if only mysidia were present. that was one hell of a strange place. hopefully i'll provide more non-drunk semi-drunk criticisms in the near future. this has been fun to write. and this album has been fun to listen to. thanks. to everyone involved.

OCR01876 - Final Fantasy IV "Golbez'n Goblins"
SoulinEther replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I shant lie. When I first heard this song, I definitely appreciated how great it sounded. ...but I didn't really listen to it again. When I restarted FFIV, heard Golbez's theme a few times, and had this song stuck in my head (of all songs on the album) while sitting in a restaurant eating steak... then I realized how awesome this remix is. Definitely one of the best works on the album, and way better than A1 steak sauce. -
OCR01879 - Final Fantasy IV "In the Land of Dwarves"
SoulinEther replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
thanks to echoes, I've just about finished the game (first time i've actually gotten to the very end ) and with the dwarven castle theme stuck in my head, i expected something... er, "special" for the Dwarven castle music. This is special. In a good way, though. Befitting the quirkiness of the dwarves, and it does some interesting things for yer ears, Lali! -
not trance... but definitely entrancing. instruments n stuff sound great. trying to register to vote, but it's being painfully slow. it'll get there edit: done. but now i have two accounts with them... at the same email address... huh. oh well.

i remember those themes, definitely the second one more than the first. But I really enjoy how you make them come off as less.. juvenile. This is still a little whimsical but not over the top. -
Therefore it is a matter of utility.

VG Opinion Poll #14 - Possible VG movies?
SoulinEther replied to glasfen's topic in General Discussion
None. But if they were being made anyway, I'd be most interested in seeing a Castlevania movie... the games have quite a lot of story to work with. -
I know it's serious, but still, lol.

I was going to, but... this has been a busy week, and your midi file didn't play nice with reaper, and i was too lazy to... ...etc.
