  1. Hi, I was digging and found this thread - and wanted to ask - do you think the new torrents will be updating soon? I'm going to be getting my labtop back soon with a brand new hard drive -- I was hoping you could tell me if it'd be easier just to wait or what? I'd prefer the torrent, but I'd probably just start redownloading OCR's recent stuff if it's going to take several more months anyways.
  2. I listened to the soundcloud one actually. To be honest, I kept listening to it more and I think what's really bugging me is that it's just not humanized well enough. Not really the strength of it.
  3. I'll be honest here, aside from I believe about 1 track (the ice berg peak one), I never really liked the music added to sky. Not as much as I like the original songs. But fortunately, this particular source isn't so bad, and I like this mix a lot. It certainly is conservative, but it's still good. I was going to comment mostly on arrangement this post, but all I can say is that it's very solid. The string, flute, pretty much everything sound very good together. The original parts are very cool, how you mix up both of leads - I love that. Speeding up things was a good call. The percussion could use a bit of work, though. It might either be because it's soft or maybe it's a little repetitive, I don't know. It just doesn't sound like it's helping out the mix that much, though. Try humanizing it a little more. Very good job on this!
  4. Man, ok, so thanks for the comments guys. I just want to get this out of the way.. I really didn't mean to sound like that much of a jackass with my posting even though it's already too late. I kind of get impatient sometimes I think, and by sending it I think I might have just wasted some peoples time. Man. I really did feel finished with the song overall though, and I don't really regret where it's at. but I think I'm kind of starting to see what you guys are talking about... I obviously didn't think about these things. Ahh.. I'm having trouble finding a good piano sound.. but I'll update you guys on this. thanks again guys. again sorry for sounding like a jackass. I realize that sending in a song with that kind of attitude might just put a burden on the judges. I'm a bit impatient at times with things like this I guess and usually end up regretting half the shit I do. Haha. I'll try hard to get this a good quality before it hits the judges panel. or maybe just retract it if that's even possible. edit: by the way, algamest, I'm just using soundfonts as of right - for everything except the drums and pad played in the chorus. i'm using FL studio to put this all in.
  5. I wouldn't forget about this Technically, this is only the second version I've heard of this song. This one and the one right before the Chrono Trigger edit. I really like the lead synth you have there, and the works very well. The drums were a little weak, but I can tell that's not the point in this mix. The production is great for garageband. I really was hoping for a little more for the closing. Not sure what, but something felt missing. It might just be me though, so really don't worry about that comment too much unless other people agree. Good job on this though. I really like it. Hopefully you finish this soon if you haven't yet, I wanna see this on OCR!
  6. I just wanna say I updated the link a bit, and did some equalization, but I've already submitted it actually (yeah, before I even got any critiques) If it gets rejected, then I will work on it some more (at least once I have my labtop back again, with a reasonable listening space), but I'm gonna move onto other stuff for the most part. If anyone has any EQ suggestions though, I'll still apply them as an update before the judges get to it. Not a problem at all. But for the most part I'm done with it for now.
  7. This is an exciting. The guitar and sax/trumpet are awesome together. Also, very nice mixing of the vocals. I can't wait to hear this finished. I like it a lot. : D
  8. I'm with DaMonz on that piano sample, you might just need a new one entirely, tbh. Also, maybe the guitar too, but it's not as bad. Humanization would probably fix it. I have to say, I'm really digging the bells when they come in. They sound very pretty. Using more pads towards will help fill in the space on other sections too. A lot of it sounds empty. The drums are very cool, btw. Good start, keep adding stuff, it would really help.
  9. Right, so this is the second time I've started this song, and just rounded it up. My labtop had a hardware crash recently, and so while its being sent in (with a memory wipe) I've decided to restart it on my old PC, which has a pretty shitty listening space (and the computers fan won't stfu). This started with me learning equalization and applying it to a piano, and then I just kept adding things from there until I decided to make it a song. This is what came out of it. The ending might seem kind of rushed, but the whole restarting thing kind of drained the fun, and I kinda want to do something else. But if anyone has suggestions, I'll be happy to apply them. I'm hopefully gonna send this off the judges soon, so yeah. Sources: Guildmaster Wigglytuff - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVGadrjQ_7s Team Base - I also used a little jingle that I believe is from the opening title screen - Mix: http://www.box.net/shared/ec2txuaiqxaqissnpbem Enjoy.
  10. 'Cause obviously you don't know how to like a pro.Dear god it's so obnoxious.
  11. Such an obvious troll, though. I subscribed to him 'cause it was kind of funny at first. Kind of got old fast. Ahh well.
  12. I thought that Metroid 2 Remake ended up being cancelled. Wow, I'm glad I was wrong. This might be a good time to actually play the game. (Or I could actually just go ahead and emulate it since that's what I'd be doing both ways anyways. <.<) Thanks for that tidbit of knowledge. *Bookmarked*
  13. Thank you for making the Crystal Flash EP. It has pretty much made my day. Hell, my whole week. Maybe even year :P

Really good stuff. REALLY good stuff.

  14. Awesome. Just finished my 101% run (and scans) on Metroid Prime 2 in celebration. Took about 10 hours, which I'm mad about because I could have easily cut that back into 9 or 8 and a half if I didn't carelessly forget about a 2 items and a few scans. D: I know technically the anniversary was two days ago, but I'mma keep celebratin'. On to Supah Metroyd!
  15. I was not expecting this, but I'm so glad it came. This is the perfect, absolute PERFECT way to celebrate the 25th Metroid anniversary. Thank you Mr. Pretzel. Thank you very much. I never knew Avien passed away, actually, but that's so sad to here. His track of Relics of the Chozo was also my favorite. This song fits perfectly for a Maridia music. The piano is a must have, and the way it's used here is both pleasant and unique. The voices are used very well, and the beat works very well with everything. Listening to this again, I have to agree with djpretzel: this mix is absolutely amazing in the space that it creates. I could get lost in this for a long time -- in fact, I think I will right now. Thank you Theophany. First Full Moon Cello, now this -- seriously, keep the goodies coming.
  16. Happy birthday to this amazing series! Hopefully Nintendo does something. It really deserves it. To be honest, I didn't actually start playing the Metroid series until I got my hands on Corruption in 08. I was instantly addicted. It was like the series was pretty much meant for me, and I felt horrible that I didn't know anything about it before hand. It only took a year for me to go back and play all the older games (except for Metroid 2 and Metroid: Zero Mission). To this day, my favorite games out of the series are Super Metroid and the first Prime. My favorite memory is still my first times inside of Chozo Ruins on Prime. The series' environments are what really set it apart from others IMO. Even in Super Metroid, I was amazed at all the details put into the game. I could talk about the music, forever, too. Kenji Yamamoto tops as my favorite video game musician to this day.
  17. Ahhhhh Fishy!!!!! Awesome. Not gonna lie, this is totally not what I expected (seeing as I clicked on the youtube link first), but I'm not complaining. I absolutely love these light piano mixes. The synths were pleasent.. and overall the song was a kind of weird happy, if that makes any sense. It's almost wavy at some points, which is very cool. Great synth choices! Usually the ones you mix in are great, but this synth work is a step above! I really like the drums especially, they're mix very well, and the playing is absolutely superb! I definitely see myself playing this a lot throughout the coming months. Even longer than that. Great job, Fishy! edit: I'd like to note, I'm pretty sure after reading the writeup and stuff, I mixed up the organ with a synth. That just makes it better, though.
  18. I really liked all the Stevo thumbs ups given in that picture by the way. Well, that's who I automatically think of when I see one at least.. Man, OCR staff gets to meet some of the coolest people on earth. I'm so jealous I couldn't have gone.
  19. This a hundred times. There's a hell of a lot more where this came from fortunately. Seriously guys, recommending ya'll look out for his future remixes. I'd like to say, being off-topic here, that it's kind of ironic that Vig, of ALL people, is defending the Pokemon remix while everyone else harasses it. I kid of course. I'm pretty shit when it comes to musical theory, but I get his points at least.
  20. Awesome to finally see TGH on OCR! Ever since he revamped this song, I absolutely could not stop listening to it. My favorite part about the song is awesome everything is layered together, and each segment fits perfectly in relation to the source. If there were a remake of this game on the Wii, this is what I imagine I'd be hearing. I'll be playing this one over for a long time. Without a doubt, along with Home Is Where the Luvdisc Is..., this is my favorite Pokémon remix on this site. Man, seeing this first thing after getting off of work. What a great start to the rest of my day. : D Good shit, TGH! Love it.
  21. I really did enjoy this mix very much; the strings especially caught my attention, and I am absolutely in love with what follows the at 2:15. That synth was absolutely beautiful, along with the sax. One thing I didn't like, though, is how the song transitioned to the soloing section. The soloing was very good, the piano especially, but it really just felt tacked on, to be honest. Not that it didn't belong at all, but I just didn't really like how it transitioned is all. Good remix!
  22. I'm being serious, that typo is so bad it's kind of unbelievable. But at least they're both words. Kind of. Pappy was my grandpa's name, so that's always good. I should have posted this earlier by the way.. Maybe that's not creepy.
  23. So listening back, I think throughout 2011 so far, this still tops as one of my favorite remixes so far this year. What I especially love about this mix is the the airy sound that comes from all the reverb mixed with the pads. The whole song sounds so elegant, but at the same time it still has a beat to it that pumps me up. It just sounds like the song shouldn't have ended where it did, though. I really thought a lot more could have been done, IMO. But it's nothing I'm complaining about too much, really. One thing that's sad about this remix is the fact that just because it's not from a Zelda or Chrono Trigger mix, it will probably be overlooked by a lot of people for no good reason. This is an amazing remix. Definitely worth a download.
  24. Happy 30th! Keep being big and giant!
  25. Tabi no Tochuu Seriously, this has to be my favorite anime soundtrack from what I've seen so far. If anybody's actually reading this, and knows of some other epic anime OST's, seriously, post them.
