Next Super Smash Bros. being co-developed by Namco Bandai
jnWake replied to 42's topic in General Discussion
Brawl's single player is very cool imo. Some of the stages were pretty cool, it had amazing boss battles, cool cutscenes and was quite challenging... I hope the next Smash Bros. has something similar, but better! -
wip Final Fantasy VI - "Coin Song" & "Edgar and Sabin's Theme"
jnWake replied to jnWake's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
There are velocity changes in the piano track, but maybe I should make them harsher. This is like my first try at humanizing, so I don't take that many risks! I'll do some timing changes, it's hard to not make it sound like if someone was terrible at playing piano. I'm not sure what you mean with the conductor thing, but I'll look more into the dynamics, since I didn't work that much on them, except for some sections (like when the contrabass plays the main melody). Also, I've only put this track for mod review twice, so it's not like I'm asking for mod reviews all the time. I'm not sure what you mean by swells and have not worked with volume automation, but I'll read about it The cutoff at 2:29 is something I'll work in. I guess I'll begin the fade out earlier. Thanks for the feedback! EDIT: Moving back to WIP for a while. Trying to spice the mix up. -
This is much better than the last version! - I'm still not that fond of the strings of the intro, but I guess it's just me (I'd try with pizzicato though, just to see how it sounds). - The first section with the "horn" works nice as a buildup and I love when the pad takes over, it creates a beautiful mood. I think the flute doesn't get overpowered, but maybe a different flute sound could be used, more like a pan flute. I get that kind of feeling from the arrangement. - I like the mixing in the calm section that comes afterwards. - I kind of miss the pad in the repetition of the main theme... - Regarding the bass sound. I have no problem with it, but maybe you could try a fretless bass? It usually fits with songs like this one. Overall, pretty good. I like the forest-ish mood and I think you did a great job with the mixing.

Final version updated: http://soundcloud.com/jnwake/royal-coin Moving again to Mod Review. I did some changes to the piano, velocity stuff and changed the melodies a bit in the second repeat of the Figaro Castle Theme. EDIT: I wonder if this is ready for submission? -
It's super rough! I made absolutely no edits to the samples (except for volumes of course) so don't judge the production quality yet I hope you people like the arrangement and you're free to offer suggestions/critiques or anything to the track (on the soundcloud page preferrably, to avoid cluttering this topic).

Many tracks from CC deserve more love. I hope the Ancient Dragon Fort song gets a cool remix, since I love its style.

OCRA-0035 - Final Fantasy: Random Encounter
jnWake replied to Brandon Strader's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
I've not finished listening to the album but I liked it a lot. I'm more of a metal person. Prelude was interesting, even though the entrance of the distorted guitar was a bit strange. Most other tracks have been nice, but the vocal track (Epic Win I believe), the 10 minute long Sentient Machines and the fun Gurgling Desert Pond have been my favourites. -

Sure, just wanted to see if there is anything else I should work on before posting another version here! EDIT: Moving it back to Finished and I'll post a new version soon. -

Yeah, I noticed the timing issue, but I hoped it wouldn't be that noticeable. It's just a rendering glitch so it's easy to fix. I guess I'll see what I can do to the 2:00 - 2:30 section, maybe more piano stuff would help as you suggest. I'm happy with most of the piano's sound, but as you say, there are some sections that could use some tweaking (some of the fills I put on some chords sound a bit odd). I am allowed to keep the Mod Review tag up so that I can get more mod opinions, right? P.D. The CVPiano settings can be found for anyone that's interested. CVPiano is a bit buggy though, so I recommend adding the VSTi when the track is ready to be rendered. -
I don't see why the opinion of the "majority" of gamers should be what guides your decision of buying a WiiU. I bought a Wii when Smash. Bros came out and then bought other titles that were good. I guess I'll do something similar with Wii U, buy it when a game I really want comes out and then buy other titles. There's no need for so much drama.

Since Summer 2008, Nintendo published: - The MotionPlus controller. - Skyward Sword. - Donkey Kong Country Returns. - Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Bros. Wii, various Mario "party" games. - Xenoblade. - The Last Story. - 2 Kirby games. - Punch Out! - Metroid: Other M and the Metroid Prime Trilogy set. - Revised Pikmin 1 & 2 editions. Not to mention both Brawl and Mario Kart were released in early 2008. That doesn't look bad to me.

Thanks for the comment. I see what you mean and I could understand that people may find it repetitive. To be honest it doesn't bother me but if the potential repetitiveness seems to be a flaw to more people I may add a third voice to that section. Also, changing this to Mod Review. -
I can't believe how much you people overthink this stuff. To me, it's like: good games -> buy; bad games -> don't buy. It's impossible (and unnecesary) to make judgements to all of the console's hopes when we only know of like 10 announced titles.

I'd love to participate but I don't have any remix ideas and probably won't have time... But I may try anyway. However, I wanted to share some songs that people could tackle: : The theme is quite strange, but I can see awesome mixes coming from it. : More straightforward, but awesome anyway. : Pretty energetic. I've been trying to remix this one, but I can't come up with something that isn't too cover-ish.I only chose Smash. Bros themes since that OST is so underapreciated...
