  2. I've listened to your mixes for months, so you know I pretty much enjoy your style. Your tracks have this shine and glisten to them and this one's no exception. I think the bells fit, personally, but they just need to be cut a bit on the high end. You made the vocals fit well, in a case where it's very easy to kill the track. Are you going to finish the Chemical Plant Zone remix? The chord changes you made to give it a more uplifting feel are very good.
  3. Cool stuff to keep in mind Gario. I've posted an update. It has a considerable beat/percussion upgrade, and there's more of a low end with the sound. Also just as important, more development of the track. (The bass line in 2:07 is supposed to be a more faithful take of the bass from the original, but I think it may be hard to recognize).
  4. I agree with what Ramen4ever said about the bass rhythm/sequencing. You'd need a bit more LFO wankery on it if you expect it to stay catchy. I suggest sequencing the note pattern independently from the LFO automation. Also, percussion is often overlooked in this genre.... add a few sections where the beat plays off the bass rhythm and vice versa (that Exicision tune is a good example). Having bouncier sections keeps the energy from going stale, and you have more complex articulation going on in your instruments. Basically, you'd want to treat them as you would drum or guitar solos.

  6. Are you trying to produce your own remixes in these styles or just looking to build collections based on the styles? If it's a DJ set you're talking about, it may be a great way to get people acquainted with remixes they wouldn't normally download. However I would prefer to not stick to just one series of games. I experimented with making a short set where the BPM would gradually become faster. Thus, the track choices were more based on how well they'd sound together and not what are considered OCR "must haves" or "classics".

  8. As a DJ I have no strong feelings about DJ Hero getting the axe. Over-releasing Guitar Hero is the reason Rock Band 3 tanked.

I'm looking for a music player with an interface like iTunes and Songbird, but those two are missing something important for me- you can't organize files by the date they were created in the filesystem. This means I want to have the latest songs I bought/downloaded at the top of the list, which goes better for organizing songs for DJ playback rotation (I tend to organize my physical albums from the newest purchased). The date modified info is not the same because you can edit mp3 tags and it fudges up the playlist order.

  11. I also think about how these types of sections get produced. For me I'm more curious about managing the workflow with all the different sounds than the producing of the sounds themselves. For instance, if I listen to a Datsik track I sometimes think "How many voice tracks would he use for this section?" And then lay that down on top of a dozen or so percussion hits and samples. I just HATE having to scroll up and down a lot with channels/tracks. There are some timbres that only get used as half-second shots and I would rather integrate all the little odds and ends into one single track.

  13. To me this sounds more like Professor E. Gadd's theme than the mansion music. Maybe parts from both are being combined. The build-up to drop is anti-climatic. You can make the transition better by making the transition FX quieter. The bass is on auto-pilot, since the same four notes keep on playing. Changing the notes in a few parts can be the easiest way to add your own spin to the arrangement.

I'm surprised that I have not have found any remixes of it. There's lots to pick from this great tune.

  18. I didn't even press the bass boost button on my stereo and my ears got blown away. Although I prefer old school Pendulum over In Silico, it still sounds great. Can't wait to hear what "typical Raptor" styles you'll put into this mix.
  19. At first I thought the back facing touch panel was retarded too, but it does help keep the fingers off the screen. You'll be able to see all the action. Since you can't see your fingers, it would probably be used for relative movement than the 1-to-1 movement of the touch screens. Now the tilt functions I still don't give a crap about.
  20. Get a phone before made before 2009 and try to browse the web on it, and you'll understand. That 3G will go to waste if they don't include a real web browser in it. Though seeing Sony's history with browsers I'm gonna have wait and see first

  22. Great idea and great vibes. The strings didn't sound so good when they were exposed in the beginning but they weren't a problem when the beat starts. Guitar feels thin and a bit underprocessed, maybe add a tad of stereo expand to it. I really like the flute/shakuhachi/whatever-it-is coming into the solo at 2:21. I suggest having the piano play the all the chords that make up the first few bars of the source (right now it's already playing half of them) just to make it more cohesive to the rest of the track. I mean, the last half of the track is basically original material so you gotta bring in the source more somehow. The slap and additional guitar that comes in later is even more awesome. More impressed that you did this in Renoise. You got the skills.
