  1. @Zircon Thanks for the backup . Also if you think Soulstealer is S class now (he's kind of close but A is more like it) he's only going to get better. Currently his turn speed is way slower than his DotA counterpart and this really limits his fighting capabilities with his nukes. Next patch coming is going to add a LOT to the game with this turn speed fix included. It's going to be nuts. If you don't believe me I have a few friends on the Dev/Mod team who have been testing the new patch internally since it's adding so much. Also Demented Shaman is definitely one of the best support heroes in the game so far. Good support wins games. Even if your carry player is only decent you can win a lot of games with solid backup. Also I never said [iXi] was a competitive DotA clan. We're brand new and in HoN only right now. It started out as a bunch of friends playing but then we decided to make a clan and some of us were competitive level players. We're in the clan tourney bracket hosted by our own Avan and also signed up to compete in the HoN League tourney if you'd like proof of us. Also, Zircon, I'm unlikely to be on your IRC channels (never been my kind of thing) so message me ingame. Also my smurf account is eternalzero so I might be on that one too. As for the sound? I used to play DotA with the sound muted so that's how little I cared for that, haha. In HoN I turn off the music but only keep sound effects on so I can hear spells in the fog. I do enjoy some of the voice acting (Madman!) but some of it is just way too annoying (Armaddon, Electrician) but as of now I have it on so I am sure when I'm done taunting someone.
  2. Oh okay. Well I can tell you that player skill makes a huge difference in the game.
  3. I'm excited that the series could possibly be revived properly (last good game from them was SA2 and maybe Sonic Heroes if the level design was garbage) but I'm not keeping my hopes up for anything. This ex-cash cow of Sega's is really starting to show his age and unless they can pull off some magic akin to Miyamoto with Mario then it's about time we let the little blue dude retire for good.
  4. My biggest hope for these games is for a matchmaking system to actually play people that you don't already know. To be able to download and fight their teams is one thing but AI can only go so far. I doubt this will ever happen with Nintendo's blatant casual stance they've had with games recently.
  5. As the team of 5 you can't possibly lose as long as you all pick stunners. Even if he manages to dominate his own lane you have two lanes of free farm as well as near infinite time to amass enough disables to keep him completely helpless. Or just outpush him because he can't be in all three lanes at once. Also Hellbourne doesn't necessarily have better creeps. I've done many experiments in the past with just letting the game run and seeing who wins w/o hero support. It's really strange how it ends up working out sometimes. Well that's helpful. Would you like to expound on your statement? And Arek. I only have time myself for only maybe two sometimes three games a night cause of med school apps. So it's not necessarily all your fault we never play. Even finding time for non-competitive games with the other Remodders is tough enough.
  6. No man I know from what I'm reading that you guys aren't super competitive. I'm just extending that my clan is a pretty good place to get better and learn the game. Also if there is talent to be found at OCR I'd love to play with/against you. I'm all about making connections with skilled players and their (inevitably less skilled) friends cause before set communities like HoN, and before that GArena, keeping connections in DotA was hard which is why many felt it was a dog eat dog experience all throughout. Also @Clefairy, unfortunately that's how it is. This game is quite competitive by nature. It's certainly not for everyone but if you can find a solid set of friends to play with time and time again this game is just fun all around even if you never get to the competitive level.
  7. I am seeing some misinformed comments in this thread. Bottle is not an ideal item on Pestilence. Ever. Hack and Slash is highly overrated and should only be bought under specific conditions. Also Devourer is pretty solid but he still lacks some staples that Pudge had like being able to ult through magic immunity. Sorry I can't help myself. I've been playing DotA for a long time and I'm the current head of the main competitive team in my clan, [iXi]The NegativeOnes. I recognize some names on your list and I know some of you are pretty chill dudes. Our clan is based on the premise of good attitude >>>>> skill even though we are one of the better clans in terms of competitive play as well. If you guys are interested come find me online sometime. I go by antigrav. We also have a clan forum but I'd rather not link another forum on here since it's bad form. PM me if any of you are interested for either good social or competitive play.
  8. I own a GBMicro. It's fantastic but it got little to no love because I already had a DS. Oh well, it's a fantastic piece of hardware and easily the best Gameboy they ever made. To just chime in about some Pokemon stuffs: I don't think I'm going to buy this at first. I want an actual catridge, yes, as opposed to the DSTT I've been using for Platinum (much to the chagrin of Aniny because my many stratagems are not limited by my time to play IRL, hehe), but I don't want to get stuck with a version and then realize "Oh hey, Emerald might be coming back too!". Though realistically I doubt they will do this because if they were going to it would have been done with FR/LG cause let's be honest: everyone and their mothers loved Yellow when it came out. The Pokegear looks really bad compared to what they could be doing. It could look so polished and nicely rendered in a pseudo 3D look instead. Lastly I have not seen any gameplay because I don't think any exists(?) but if this game does not run at Emerald speed I will be sorely disappointed and will definitely just use my DSTT because I can accelerate the game there. I absolutely HATED Diamond when I played it for that reason alone.
  9. Oh you most certainly dare. The only response I have to this is that even if I have a rose-tinted rear-view mirror I can still listen to the albums I mentioned side by side today and come to the same conclusions. But let's leave that topic, it's a waste of time and in the end we're all going to say at the very least that the albums are all more than just okay because OCR even when not subject to the panel has some pretty high standards. I understand I am strictly an outsider when it comes to such affairs. I have been around OCR a while mostly lurking and such and I personally have a hefty amount of musical skill, but I'm a performer not a composer/arranger. Touring Europe with an orchestra? That I can do. That I've done. Write a song/remix? Can't do it for the life of me. I'm really glad I pressed this point now because I didn't have that idea of what an album was for the actual remixers and those trying to get their names out there. Pretty cool, actually. Though I wouldn't mind some more super quality albums anyway.
  10. So then album projects are the easy man's way to get his name into OCR? That sounds weak and a little underhanded to me. The first albums I was exposed to here at my stay at OCR were Kong, Relics, and Chaos. These were all phenomenal and I remember the first album I really felt disappointed with was the other Sonic one. Quality control is a necessary evil if you are going to spread these albums as ways to gather attention if you ask me. But I'm just voicing an opinion. The guys running the show should know what they're doing by now. I'm being cynical and pessimistic about this on purpose just to put things in perspective from the gratuitous amounts of praise. Yes, it's warranted, but let's keep it real. ^ 3^
  11. Unfortunately those are times long past. I can't remember the last time I had an awesome conversation with a friend talking about the random stuff we found in a game that was totally awesome. Thinking back as far as I can I know I did it with SMW, Super Metroid and some other SNES games like the easter eggs in Super Mario RPG and Genesis games like Ecco. To a much lesser extent SM64 because by that time strategy guides became popular as well as your magazines with cheats and tricks and all that jazz.
  12. There was a different skill and mindset back in those days. You had games that were harder and you didn't see them as such. That was the norm. Now I don't call myself really an older gamer but I do remember that when playing Super Mario World on the SNES when I was like 5 that I was an absolute monster. I was so good at the game you have no idea. I knew that there was a different exit out of the bridge level if you flew under the entire thing. I don't know how I knew. Nobody told me but I just found it. New games being all about a fun easy experience versus an actual challenging hard game is a change that seems to be here to stay. Both are fun but most people enjoy the same amount of fun for a significantly less amount of work.
  13. You definitely picked up on what made the original source one of the best tracks in the entire game. It's bubbly it's uplifting and it just feels good, man. This is a fantastic rendition.
  14. So I have listened to this in its entirety. And while part of me wants to just say, "Oh hey, it's OCR, it's mad good!" I really cannot. In my opinion this is decent at best. I have to agree with the review that OCR albums have been on the decline as it's really hard to stand up to projects like Kong in Concert or Relics of the Chozo. It's not that the individual work put in is by any means bad though I will say there are some definite weak tracks that should not have been included. I will not mention names as mudslinging is next to pointless. Overall I did not find the tracklist as a whole very riveting nor did it quite keep my full attention the entire way through. There were some tracks that I did pull out specifically to keep in my regular playlists. If you ask me, what the upcoming albums need are more consolidated track lists that truly represent the best of OCR instead of having it feel overbearing, cluttered, and on the whole that much weaker. The recent Tales album also suffered from this. We need another album of just the elite doing what they do best and really demonstrating to the world what quality comes from OCR. I don't see why tracks that normally would not make it past the judge's panel would be included on an album that is representing this very community. Now if what I said about not all of these tracks being OCR worthy please tell me otherwise or put them onto the site where they would belong.
  15. It's been a long while since I've done one of these. I got good source material:
  16. Huh. Thought people had forgotten about those because I don't post here very often.
  17. Fixed. Notice the comma. I have played this game. It's nothing outside of your typical grind. The only motivation I had moving forward was I wanted my hot elf chick to have really sweet looking "Zero-style" (ala Bahamut Zero) wings.
  18. No one of the servers was IP compatible with the US. I want to say it was Malaysia like it always is.
  19. This is quite old news to me. I played Perfect World more than half a year ago. It's decent. Nothing too special but flying and the acrobatics you can do are amusing.
  20. Wait wait. That's what your name is on here?
  21. Along the lines of Dream Theater -> Liquid Tension Experiment has two great albums and some solid keyboarding. I've been trying to hunt down the second group of their's, Liquid Tension Trio, but Experiment is downright awesome.
  22. I, too, have to finish the first one, but I do have it on my desktop at home so it'll get played through eventually.
  23. Actually that goes along with the initial theory because of who he played against. He did mention that they are the two of the best players out there and I daresay with most of the characters and not just the top tier ones. Also, don't be so defensive. Sure, we're pointing out mistakes in your logic but no need to prove something. You'll probably end up in a better position that way.
  24. He's under the impression that a certain set of characters just suck. Keep rocking Yoshi man, though I have to say personally I don't like him. Play more Samus!
