I care about the graphics quality of games. It adds to the enveloping experience and it's more fun for me to have eyecandy to look at - that's all there is to it. It only really irks me though if people aren't using the POTENTIAL graphics power available on a given system - I don't really care if X system is capable of better graphics than Y system. But that's part of why I don't usually care for the first "wave" of games to come out with a system because they all essentially look like the previous generation. I'll only get a first wave game if it's really, really good.

OCR01544 - Sonic & Knuckles "iMushroom"
Antipode replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ah, it's on OCR! This is a great submission from the project because of how unique it is - and I love it. It's an excellent style that's very catchy, and GaMeBoX has woven the main melody lines really well together along with original material and solid solos. As the artist wrote, I was one of the ones who listened to this track since it was a WIP, and I'm glad his talent has fleshed it out even further to the solid, catchy piece that it is. I really like the break at 1'03 - it really switches things up and catches you by surprise. The classic sonic sound effect later on kind of "brings you back", so to speak. Anyway, recommended. Go download it. -

The Worst NES games you can come to think of...
Antipode replied to kidThunder's topic in General Discussion
Might have been Conan. That's all it was, just "Conan". This game was just terrible. -

Sorry to hear that. I didn't even know you got tornadoes in the ffffffffffffffffffffffffff area. -

OCRA-0008 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos

Saying that you think something is "too slow" (etc) for the original is a good indicator that you don't know the purpose of a remix. -
Unless I'm mistaken Facebook was intended solely for college kids to hang out and keep track of each other in - until recently anyway when they opened it to everyone. I guess that was a couple of months ago. Myspace is below facebook because it lets people have crappy embedded videos, animated text, auto-playing music, and in general about everything annoying you can possibly have. Honestly I wouldn't care too much if people didn't overdo it.
-
I'd just like to randomly say that it's getting annoying when people say "oak-uh-rina" instead of "ock-uh-rina". That bother anyone else?

You realize that essentially what these two links are saying is that Voyager sucked because Janeway made crappy decisions and because 7 of 9 wore a revealing costume. Not even getting into the second one, I can't understand how a character's decisions affect the quality of a show. I mean in some ways I think having a main character that you don't like can make the show that much better. Whatever. And personally, I had no problem with Janeway anyway.
-
I don't get the Voyager hate. I thought it was honestly a very intriguing series, particularly the final several seasons. I think it was greatly unappreciated and was sorry to see it get the reaction it did. I saw most of the series and I enjoyed the characters and the evolving plotline. TNG, mostly the later ones, held that same significance for me. Also, another random star trek rule I think should be that any episode that involves time travel or time distortions is going to be one of the best ones of the series. Anyways, this animated series looks interesting. I'll keep an eye on it.

The "who uses what" thread
Antipode replied to Geoffrey Taucer's topic in Music Composition & Production
I can't remember if I've posted here. FLStudio 6 Goldwave Cool Edit Pro Nothing else...and on a crappy computer. I have to turn the lag in FL up by a LOT so that it's able to run without chopping up when I have a lot of samples playing. For sounds, I use just soundfonts that I can find for free and samples that I make myself. The above setup is going to change as soon as I get a job. -
FRUITY LOOPS 101 - PLEASE direct -ALL- FL questions here
Antipode replied to starla's topic in Music Composition & Production
Thanks. Yeah, that seems to work. But pretty much what you're saying is that I have to do it manually with each and every instrument playing and try to match? There's no way to automate the swing like you can in the step sequencer? -
OCR01526 - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 "Knuckleduster"
Antipode replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ugh, I don't like all this drama. I'll state a simple fact. Usually remixes with vocals wind up layering on the cheese, and I mean extra-thick. This mix didn't. And not only that, I really liked it. This is probably one of my top 20 from the whole site, much less just the project. Very tight and well done. -
FRUITY LOOPS 101 - PLEASE direct -ALL- FL questions here
Antipode replied to starla's topic in Music Composition & Production
I'm going to ask an incredibly dumb and simple question. How do you add swing to notes? I know you can use the "swing" bar to add swing to just the step sequencer but I haven't found any way to add it to notes in the piano roll - and obviously drums in swing with a melody that isn't sounds really bad. After a lot of searching through the help files and any tutorials I could find I've found nothing about adding swing to notes particularly in the piano roll, something which I would have thought would be really easy. Is there something really simple I'm overlooking? -
Oh man. I am so in on this. This is one of my favorite OSTs of all time. I'm gonna have to relisten to everything and see what I can think up.

OCRA-0008 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos
Antipode replied to SnappleMan's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
Robotnik Radio and Three Ring Nightfall took me by surprise! Thanks to both of you for taking on such difficult source tunes and turning out great music. Also, I really like RTF's rendition of the credits. Good stuff. Of course, Walk on Water, Knuckleduster, Malicious Fingers, and the Secluded Stronghold are also some of my very favorites. Great stuff all around. EDIT: One thing, for the wikipedia entry for Project Chaos shouldn't it display the Project Chaos artwork instead of the Sonic 3 and Knuckles logo? -
OCRA-0008 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos
Antipode replied to SnappleMan's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
I'd like to add that while with many previous projects I've felt the tracks are a mixed bag, I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed and will constantly replay every one of these.
