  1. Hi all. This is my first time posting an original piece on OCR. Feel free to give a critique. Please be nice! This started off as just an experiment to capture some 80's Synthwave style sounds so the composition is quite simple. Trouble was it got a bit stuck in my head, especially when out on a run, so needed to be finished. It's intentionally in a short, "Radio Edit" format which I quite like for this. If I was to be critical of a few things myself, I think there's some EQ work to be done to crisp things up a bit. A certain amount of mud is needed for the 80's feel and heavy drums but some tweaks might lift it a bit and increase the power. Have at ye!
  2. Here's my first attempt at synthwave style song with a fiverr singer. Have a listen!
  3. Hello everyone! Been a long time since I've posted anything on here (over a decade!). I have here a dance style remix of "Rebel Army" from Final Fantasy II, titled "Rebels Like to Dance Too!". I consider this pretty much complete and ready for submission, but want some feedback first. Thanks! -Brink https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uHWydbVZLy3gg8JJp9CCyT5vpoIr6b4V Source:
  4. Here is a piece of music I have wanted to make for a long time. But I hadn't had as good a start on a piece as this one for it to earn the honorary title of "Theoretical Synthesist". Have at it and enjoy what I have so far! There will be a few anti-climactic moments as this is highly experimental and very early on.
  5. This is my first full length EDM song (with lyrics) that I am composing. It deals with the disease of political correctness and following others absentmindedly. I am posting it to see what people think of the concept. I will be working on the transitions and extra verses in the mean time. The vocalist in the chorus (myself) personifies the world and the powers of evil (Satan)...while the verse is more me singing to myself as myself (and to whoever understands what I am singing about)...I'll let you guys connect with the lyrics before I reveal the rest.
  6. Here is a lone warrior type of theme. It isn't necessarily for Half-Life, but I used some Freeman art because he embodies the lone warrior archetype. Let me know what you think so far.
  7. I always loved this catchy tune from this classic game. So here is my remix of the Battle music from Chrono Trigger done in a electro house/blog house style. Download and Stream links here: http://mercuriusfm.com
  8. Hey, all! This is a new single we just dropped for our album coming real soon! Have a listen! Hope you like! - ichordic
  9. Hi, thanks for taking the time to listen to my WIP remix in the style of 90s happy hardcore. Typically songs of this genre feature distorted kick drums, but I chose to go with a clean kick for this one, because I wanted a clean mix with several melodic tracks. My main worry is that I may have strayed too far from the source material. Also a bit unsure about the length; 3:19 is on the short side. I plan on replacing the acid:y synth that comes in around 1:28 with a real analog synth, but want to make sure the arrangement is just right before I record it. Edit: done! Feedback of any kind welcome! Source:
  10. Hi friends! I just released my 5th album Search for a Lost Reality!! Search for a Lost Reality is a concept album that encompasses the search and discovery of our own true identity. In this album I fused chiptune with modern electronic, orchestral and rock music with a classic video-game flare. Listen here: http://smarturl.it/searchforlostreality Lemme know what you guys think!
  11. Hey, all, so I thought I'd drop these early projects of ours here for you to check out. The first one is called Echosystem, Vol. 1, which was dropped back last year. Mostly leans towards EDM, with plenty touches of ambient and that good ol' retro vibe. https://kronotiqsounds.bandcamp.com/album/echosystem-vol-1 (Here's a SC link for it too) Second one was dropped this year, called the Echowave EP. We're actually working on Echosystem Vol. 2 right now, so this is the in-between project. It's a 5-track EP , and while it's still electronic-focused, we tried to update the energy from the last one with some jazz, hip-hop and drum & bass. https://kronotiqsounds.bandcamp.com/album/echowave-ep Hope you enjoy! Let us know what you think! - ichordic
  12. I previously made a remix of this exact melody a while ago, but for some reason at 4am I just had this idea pop into my head. Any constructive criticism would be well appreciated. (I know the mp3 says "final" but that was just the version that I put up on soundcloud).
  13. I know pronouncements for album releases here aren't as hot as they used to be, but I submit this work for your consideration and enjoyment anyway: I finally got to do a commissioned work for a visual novel and I contributed 12 tracks to the third game in a visual novel series called Without Within by InvertMouse Games. Not only is this my highest quality release to date, but it's also one of my most consistent and less electronic than before. I had to use more loop and phrase libraries to make that work since everything was still done in the computer and I can't play guitar, but the quality of the output speaks for itself. It fulfills my 15-year goal/dream to make music that puts my Chrono Cross inspiration full to the front AND I finally got to actually perform (with a piano) on a commercial music release instead of just sequence it (and it's not even any of the tracks that has a piano on it!) I don't get to sell this soundtrack as part of my contract deal with the commissioner, but for anyone who is interested in it, I'll post up a link here when that becomes available. Until then, please enjoy this work. I really got to break a lot of new ground here and I hope you're as pleased with it as I am! Composition, arrangement, mixing and further production: Meteo Xavier Mastering: Brandon Strader Album Artwork: Meteo Xavier using public domain images. Game available through InvertMouse Games.
  14. Hello fellow ReMixers and OCR Community! I am pleased to announce the release of my third album Validation Paradigm. Clocking in at just over an hour (16 tracks) my third album encompasses themes of self-awareness and self-improvement while musically it is inspired by 70s and 80s synthpop/rock, VGM and EDM. Listen/Buy Link: http://smarturl.it/validationparadigm Summary of the album's message: Validation should come from doing things that make the world a better place and which would in turn make you feel good about yourself and thus validated. We must always seek validation from ourselves first and then from others. This is the core principle of my third album Validation Paradigm. Because every track is devoid of lyrics each track title represents an action or a concept of Validation Paradigm’s core principle. After validating ourselves the validation from others must come through positive actions such as giving, supporting, understanding and appreciating. Let’s all accept and support each other’s unique individual identities. Validation is not about agreeing but about understanding. That’s all someone needs to be validated. Enjoy and Happy Holidays Everyone!
  15. Check out my remix of Rip & Tear from DOOM (2016). If Doom Slayer was killing demons in a rave, this is the music that would play. 160 BPM club mix which blends thrash metal into a high octane club remix. Support from the original composer Mick Gordon "Mad remix" and ETC!ETC! (Mad Decent, Dim Mak). 19. Haven't been here in a while. But here's what I've been working on on and off while in grad school! On one of my other mixposts (Dungeonmans), djpretzel had remarked that Shantae needed some love. I mean... the only mix on the site right now is by the composer himself. That's cool and all, but he needs some company. I checked out the soundtrack to Pirate's Curse, and came across "Scuttle Town"; immediately, I got a mideast glitch hop vibe from it that would be ridiculously fun to build off of, at least for the main groove. Peeking around a bit further, "We Love Burning Town" was more than enough material to work with, bursting with a playful vibe that I couldn't resist (which for some reason is associated with burning a town... playfully?). I started this in January of 2016 (before I started grad school), stitching together Indian Ragas samples from Crypto Cipher to see what would happen. Slowly but surely, a glitch hop backbone came together, held up firmly by Serum and Zebra2, and I managed to finish through the breakdown section by the end of summer, featuring ISW's Bravura and Turkish Oud. I was kinda stuck on what to do next, so I put it to the side while I prepped to go to WSU. The first semester passed by, in which time I was TAing general chemistry, and toughing my way through quantum chemistry and thermodynamics (A- in both, oh yeah!). When I got to winter break, I immediately got the idea for a buildup back to the main drop, and finished the first three minutes so far, but I had to set it aside again for my second semester. I already knew by now that I was going to finish the track eventually... and here I am, not willing to put it off any longer, finishing it up in May of 2017 after one year of grad school! Never has finishing a ReMix been so hard!
  20. Hello again, OCR! Here's a new* remix from Legend of Mana that I just finished. * It started out as a loop back in 2008, made it a full length thing in 2015, and finished working on it now after putting it aside for... a year or so. What do you think? Cheers, Jonas
