Dhsu Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I usually get on projects just by asking, but this time I thought I'd audition just like everyone else to show that I'm not above the system. Yeah, I picked the Prelude which is pretty ZOMG OVERDONE, but I've just never heard it done *right*. This is by far my most interpretive and experimental arrangement yet, and in my opinion finally does the Prelude justice. Have a listen, but remember to keep an open mind. http://dhsu.vgpiano.com/arranged/ff3prel.mp3 Quote
Jillian Aversa Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Wow, dhsu... Your WIP is ingenious! The phasing reminds me a lot of Steve Reich's work. You're going to be the next contemporary classical composer in the history books! Quote
DJ Mighty Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I for one hope this project doesn't fail. In my opinion i think VOTL was a big let down, but thats just because im not a huge Trance fan. Best of luck though ill be looking forward to it! Oh, not to diss the cover art, but as some one in the design feild, i could prob tell you that took him, or anyone, maybe 10.5 secs to make. Quote
Dhsu Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Thanks, Jill, Reich was definitely a big influence in this one. I was afraid to attempt something so risky, but I'm really glad I did because it ended up turning out beautifully. I mean, I don't mean to sound arrogant, but even as a WIP this is direct-post material if I do say so myself. Quote
anosou Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 aah, finally announced. it sucked keeping quiet about this :3 Just you wait, I'm going all out ethno/trance for this. Jade Cocoon-style! hah, got you interested > Quote
Sir_NutS Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 OK Dhsu, although I despise the idea of this project I must admit that wip was pure genious. But that doesn't takes away the fact that this project will have the likes of Mazedude and djp who haven't made a good remix in what? 4, 5 years? Put some Chuck M in there and MAYBE this project will have some kind of hope. Quote
Fenrir Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 It's about damn time we got off this FF7 asstrain and started focusing on a game with a truly ingenious soundtrack. People may call this the indy game of the Final Fantasy series, but I just say FUCK YOU to that. You don't even know. Props to you guys, dammit. Dammit. Quote
Xenon Odyssey Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Another FF game? Seriously. I agree with Sir_NutS; nothing beats EARmix I thought you guys would have matured and done Soul Blazer or something of a worthy proprotion. Quote
Gollgagh Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 http://dhsu.vgpiano.com/arranged/ff3prel.mp3 that's actually pretty nifty sounding saved Quote
DragonAvenger Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I subbed a rap WIP for this, but it was too cool for the project. Quote
TheSnowStorm Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 YES!!!! You guys are remixing music from my favorite Final Fantasy! Hell, my first Final Fantasy game!!! Yeah, many people are going to be butthurt about yet again ANOTHER Final Fantasy album, but this is Final Fantasy III goddamn you, one of the three greatest 2-D Final Fantasy games ever! I basically in tears to know that their's a FFIII remake! God, tell me that one of you guys are working on Ella's Theme! Quote
Admiral_C Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I basically in tears to know that their's a FFIII remake! God, tell me that one of you guys are working on Ella's Theme! Zirc mentioned all the tracks were spoken for. Quote
Kaleb.G Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I would like to announce now that I will also be joining the project, providing a collaboration with Liontamer and Palpable. The details will come at a later time. Quote
The Coop Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 We discussed doing Final Fantasy III, or Final Fantasy IIIά, which was an unreleased so-called International version. It had a few new bosses, a new town, some new jobs and classes, and was going to be part of a dual pack for the NES. It would have brought the second and third games to our shores together, but Square axed the idea. Something about giving up on the US market at the time. Anyway, since it wasn't released, we voted to skip the "ά" version and go with the regular one. I'll be handling track 11 for those interested. Quote
Sole Signal Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I heard somewhere that Uematsu stamped this with his seal of approval, right? Also, thanks for leaving me off the list. Apparently my two-part trance mix isn't worth mentioning. Quote
D-Lux Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Thanks to McVaffe for bringing me aboard this project. I'm really looking forward to collabing with him and JAXX. Quote
Palpable Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I would like to announce now that I will also be joining the project, providing a collaboration with Liontamer and Palpable. The details will come at a later time. I know we didn't want to spill too many details on this but... Let's just say you all are really gonna dig Larry's first production. Quote
José the Bronx Rican Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Good luck to everyone. Don't doubt the pedigrees; we're talking about a roster of pros and semi-pros who are pretty quick/efficient/kickass. I don't believe for a minute they'll miss deadline. I will admit, however, my very first thought was, "Damn, some series just get projects up the colon while other deserving titles haven't been touched yet!" But that kind of thing is up to my slow ass, innit? One day after your deadline, I will discuss Yu-know-who. Quote
Spunodi Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I wish you all the best in carrying out this project - I'm sure with the massive popularity that greeted the original on NES that we all have fond memories growing up with the music and as such will be supporting it in large numbers. Go for it guys! (Although I'm slightly disappointed there is no Shael Riley in this - no Crystal of my Groin?) Quote
SwordBreaker Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I heard from inside sources that Uematsu is going to actually contribute to this project because of how impressed he was with Voices of the Lifestream. As most of you may know, zircon actually handed Uematsu the fan album back in March...true story... Quote
Chickenwarlord Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 What an interesting way to start the month. I look forward to great things coming from this thread. Quote
Abadoss Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 As great as this project sounds, I think zircon should be banned for placing this thread in the wrong sub-forum... Date check... Quote
