Saunders Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 Ninja Gaiden 'Devil's Mask' One of the cooler Ninja Gaiden tunes I've heard, I believe this song made it onto one of my OCR CDs. Very cool pizzicato string(?) intro, which goes into some techno-ey dancey goodness. Nothing especially unique about the mix. Nice overall though. Quote
Joseph Collins Posted August 2, 2002 Posted August 2, 2002 Rarely is it, that I find a piece of music that I just have to hit the Play button on in WinAMP. Ya know... Just before it ends. So I can listen to it again. .. Anyway... This remix qualifies for that, no questions asked. This is a beautiful remix of the Devil's Mask theme from Ninja Gaiden. Now if only someone would do a good rendition of the Nails of Lukifell. ... Actually, nevermind. Someone already did. Jose Acosta, with his "Ninja Gaiden: Emulated" Remix... ^-^; So, yeah. I'm all set! Quote
Veovis Posted September 8, 2002 Posted September 8, 2002 I remember this track very well from the very ending of the game -- and it was the best track of the game. This ReMix is awesome!! A must download for those who remember the old 8-bit Ryu. Some ReMixes don't keep enough of the original in, but this is smooth all the way along. Very high quality work. Quote
Senescence Posted September 9, 2002 Posted September 9, 2002 I love this song and have been listening to it for many a month. I like seeing a larger abundance of Ninja Gaiden songs here on the site. It also makes me happy to see that this remix kept so much of the original from the game intact. Quality work indeed. Quote
skawttieboy Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 This is an outstanding remix, real dance type music, and it just has a good flowing beat to it....I love what I hear Quote
Sir_NutS Posted September 19, 2002 Posted September 19, 2002 Yeah.. ninja gaiden remixes are cool.. specially this one.. it has a great selection of instruments and great arrangement.. oh! and an outstanding break!!! I love it! great remix overall Quote
Rychan Posted October 9, 2002 Posted October 9, 2002 I gotta say, this is probably my favorite remix on this entire site. I had this on my mp3 player over the summer when I went to spain, and listend to it like every day. (I didn't have my computer to switch out the songs) I'm not a big trance or techno guy, either, this song just really moves me. Quote
Tappy Posted February 9, 2003 Posted February 9, 2003 If you want to make a good mix don't make it techno. There are plenty of good remixes on OC, and none of them are techno. My, what an open-minded individual you are. This has always been one of my favorite mixes from the site. It stays true to the flavor of the original, it manages to take a completely repetative tune and keep it interesting for four minutes plus, and you can dance to it. You can't get much better than that. Great stuff. Quote
Strider Kyoden Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Oh My. This is some good mixage, I've been holding off on reviewing it, but I figured I might as well. Okay, Here Goes: I like the way the mix flows together, this being one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite Ninja Gaiden theme in the first place. You get the normal distorted technoy feel with the light drums and such, with more of an upbeat yet relaxed feel. Good Stuff. Quote
LegendarySword Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 A very good remix that improves the original. I can't imagine it being done in a better way than Techno. Quote
Mahjong No OujiSama Yoshi Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Wait a second! THIS IS A SAME SONG IN A DIFFERENT WAY! How odd is that? Oh well! THIS THING IS TECHNO AND HOT ALLOVER IT! That's all I got to say! Quote
Shadikka Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 I so very love this song. I downloaded this in the 001-500 pack and I just can't stop listening to this song... And now I noticed that I'm gonna be late from a hobby if I don't hurry. But still, the instruments are great, the song is great, the echo is great, the remixer is something near God et cetera. Thanks for a great remix. Quote
Polo Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Mesmerizing, chilling, and evil (in a good way). Shadows dance as I slowly go insane after catching a glimpse of Jaquio's psyche behind that pallid purple face. Which gives the title an aura of its own. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 The delay really makes this one interesting. Some of the lower pizzicato at the beginning didn't really sound like it matched up properly, but a somewhat minor detail as the rest of the track is excellently atmospheric. There almost might be a bit too much reverb and delay on this one, but it's minimal. There are so many subtle polyrhythms derived from the gated synths and the subsequent delays that even though the structure is simple, it has a very rich complexity to it. I'm not too familiar with the original, but this could easily be played at disco clubs just about anywhere and no one would know what it was a ninja gaiden remix unless they recognized the source. Nice work, this one is cool. Quote
DragonAvenger Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 This is pretty cool. I like the effects that went into this, where everything starts to mesh together in a very atmospheric way. I'm don't know the source, but this one can easily stand on it's own. Cool stuff. Quote
Emunator Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Something about the timing of everything in the introduction sounded really off to me. Once the soundscape flattened out a bit this one became more interesting. I like the distortion effects on some of the synths as well, they gave the mix a bit of character. Overall, some nice sounds but still a fairly generic remix when you get right down to it. Quote
TheCD1 Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 I wasn't sure about it at first, as I'm not a huge techno fan. However, this mix quickly grew on me and still remains in my playlist. I really like the buildup of the song's atmosphere, as has been previously mentioned in other posts, and I also think the technical presentation is pretty damn solid for 2001. Hoping that part 4 (sequel to the OG part 3) gets made some day. Quote
