DarkeSword Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 The trailer for next year's film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, is up on YouTube. Peter Jackson is doing it again, and there are some familiar faces in the cast. I gotta say, that song that they sing in this trailer is gorgeous. Quote
Mirby Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 That looks great! So glad it's finally coming out. XD Quote
Jamphibious Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 1 year is far too long to wait, this looks like it will be fantastic. That music is great. I also think I will really like the actor who is playing Bilbo. Quote
Xarnax42 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Howard Shore + brass = And yeah, that song is beautiful. It reminds me a lot of Gregorian chant, but the harmonies add an even more mystical quality, and the basses....so rich. As for Bilbo, if you've ever seen the British version of The Office, you'll know that role is in good hands. Quote
orlouge82 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Just so everyone is aware, this is only part 1 of 2 (2013 will be part two). I'm not sure how they're going to break it down, but there's going to be a lot more stuff from Tolkien's lore that wasn't in the Hobbit connecting this story to LotR. Also, they're going to dig more deeply into the side story in the Hobbit about Gandalf disappearing for awhile to go drive "the necromancer" out of southern Mirkwood (it turns out to be Sauron). Anyhow, part 1 looks awesome! Quote
Brithor Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Tears of joy. My Tolkien fanboyism knows no bounds. Quote
ocre Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I've only seen the trailer and the Company of Dwarves is already overwhelming my senses. Nevertheless, I wish I could seal myself up for 2 years til both of these things come out. Quote
Jax Mandrake Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 What a blatant LotR ripoff! I pray for your sake that this comment was saturated beyond recognition with sarcasm. Quote
ocre Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Of course it was sarcasm. He's a Yamori, not some block-headed Bracegirdle from Harbottle. Quote
Melbu Frahma Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I gotta say, that song that they sing in this trailer is gorgeous. This. Also, the possibility of the inclusion of the raid against the Necromancer and the meeting of the White Council has got me excited, although I know (if it's shown) it'll probably tick off some purists. And of course, I'm curious to see how the advances in CGI affect the films, compared to The LotR. Quote
Moomba Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I love some of the LoTR fandoms reactions to this, they're so hilarious: http://i.imgur.com/e9WwU.jpg Quote
Deep Thought Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Sweet Eru, Bilbo is being played by Arthur Dent. And I don't care how much it means the ending of the Hobbit will be "tainted." I want to see Gandalf and the elves storm Dol Guldur. Quote
Chernabogue Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Sweet song in the trailer! Looking forward more trailers and stuff. Fun fact, I watched the Fellowship of the Ring last evening. Quote
orlouge82 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Sweet song in the trailer! Looking forward more trailers and stuff.Fun fact, I watched the Fellowship of the Ring last evening. Theatrical, or extended edition? Because extended edition is the only way to fly (not because I'm a particularly rabid Tolkien fan, but because the extended editions feel like much more complete movies, plot-wise). Quote
Evilhead Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Just finished rereading The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and was about to rewatch the movies next. Seeing the trailer got me pumped!! Quote

Theatrical, I don't own the extended one. However, I saw the three extended versions with a friend and, yeah, that's quite something! Quote
Sinewav Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I'm not even a huge Tolkien nerd, but this trailer game me chills. Quote
Vaiyt Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 The trailer is just wonderful. And hey, if they're going to include more LOTR lore, I'm all for it. It's not like they're inventing stuff out of whole cloth. Quote
Mr. Bottle Rocket Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 december next year is way too long a time to wait, goshdarnit. :C Quote
