Avatar of Justice
I think I also have to back the Bastion and Jamestown bandwagons. This song from Jamestown is one of the most pure badass songs I've ever heard.
EC2151
I think the soundtrack of Portal 1 is a bit better than Portal 2. Portal 2 has a lot more bombastic songs, to reflect the bigger nature of the game, but Portal 1's ambiance I think trumps it.
noTuX
Not really a recent game (it came out on the PS2) but, Legend of Musashi is in my top ten. Also, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. There is some REALLY good music in that game.
Mazedude
I really enjoyed the Infamous 2 soundtrack. Very excellent use of cello.
Sil
I'm still peeved at Vincent for dissin' Yoko Kanno at that MAG panel a few years back, but he's a great composer and a true innovator. I'm interested to know what happened there. Is there some backstory?
Mykah
Ohhhh, and also The World Ends With You. And.... okay I'll shut up now. Yessss! I forgot about this one. Playing the game actually inspired me to visit Shibuya in the real world - so awesome!

Kanthos
Another vote for anything Jeremy Soule if you like big orchestral soundtracks that can range from the epic to the textural and ethereal. He's also quite good at ethnic orchestral stuff, like Guild Wars: Factions and Guild Wars: Nightfall, and I noticed he also did some of the asian music for the recent Mists of Pandaria expansion to World of Warcraft. If you want something with really defined melodies, this is going back 5 years or so, but Laura Shigihara's soundtrack for Plants Vs. Zombies is brilliant. Ethan Rex
Oh man, where to start. Firstly, there's classic chiptunes of . This isn't exactly recent per se, but The Super Mario Galaxy OST is positively fantastic, (the is good as well). More good soundtracks include that of and Braid's wonderfully atmospheric time wobbliness.
nohero
I was rather pleased with the soundtrack to Braid. Admittedly, it wasn't exactly a lengthy soundtrack, but I loved the way the music changed as the mood and setting of the game got progressively darker and more twisted. GravitySuitCollector
Part of HiB 6's appeal to me were the OSTs. Dustforce's OST hooked me first listen. I've also been listening to the Mighty Switch Force OST.
Dhsu
I'm interested to know what happened there. Is there some backstory? Ditto. Also I dunno how far back you wanna go, Mykah, but Granado Espada (aka Sword of the New World) has some real . Also check out (composed by Yoko Kanno), (aka Drakengard 2), and the Ace Combat series. Flash Strife
I remember liking the music for Fragile Dreams for the wii. Also the Mana Khemia games had some choice tracks, especially the first game. I'll also agree with Hotel Dusk and Bastion. Haven't played many recent games, does Zone of The Enders HD count? (Played the PS2 originals, 2nd Runner had an AWESOME soundtrack)
Toadofsky
Twilight Princesses' Hyrule field theme to me was leagues above the Ocarina of Time's version. Rayman Origins. And to go further back Beyond Good and Evil.
Safety
Already mentioned: Bastion, Superbrothers and Skyrim I'm surprised no ones mentioned Frozen Synapse. I really love that OST. Anything by Disasterpeace. Dont know how old the game is but the Machinarium OST is just lovely.
Bahamut
I personally am a huge fan of the Lost Odyssey soundtrack - IMO it's one of Uematsu's best. I also like the Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Legendia soundtracks.
Xarnax42
Tales of Vesperia That's funny. I was playing this on my keyboard as I pulled up your post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Zc6GmXLMM8 Not as recent, but Tales of the Abyss had a good handful of really memorable tracks, too. Nick Hyral
I personally am a huge fan of the Lost Odyssey soundtrack - IMO it's one of Uematsu's best.I also like the Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Legendia soundtracks. I've not tried Lost Odyssey but looking up some of the music it doesn't sound too bad at all. And as for Tales of Vesperia I wasn't too impressed with the music at first.. then I ran into https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F7qoeBOhBo&feature=relmfu And was rather pleased with what I heard. From then on out there were more tracks that began to stick out in my mind. Was a real good game.
Thalzon
Glad to see Xenoblade, Nier, and Lost Odyssey got mentions. All three are superb soundtracks. I'm gonna add and to that list. Very catchy songs in those collections.
Darklink42
I actually really dug the Alan Wake Soundtrack, and not just for either. does a great job with capturing the of the game, both in and out of it.I've also got to cast a vote for Bastion, Radiant Historia (play this game, it's awesome) and Shatter. I liked Assassin's Creed overall, even if the theme from Revelations sounds too much like Nolan's Batman, otherwise they tend to be . Unstable Hamster
Gotta shout out to Intrusion 2. It's got a heavy soundtrack, and one of the reasons I feel it's a good soundtrack is that I was able to know exactly the level the song was for when I listened to it from the link. It shows that each track was distinct enough for me to catch it. Oh, and while you're at it, buy the game on steam. It's great. Another great soundtrack is dustforce. Super chill, but still has some energy to it to keep it going. Monster Tale. This is kind of an older game, I just loved the game, and the music went great with it. Has a great SNES feel to it. EC2151
Um, I didn't know 2011 counted as "old."
Flash Strife
Monster Tale. This is kind of an older game, I just loved the game, and the music went great with it. Has a great SNES feel to it. I actually beat that game recently. It does have some nice tunes. I think what I remember most is that I played it while watching Spice and Wolf and the voice for Holo on that show also did the voice for Ellie, which I did not notice until the credits since there really wasn't much voice acting in the game, but a fun coincidence nonetheless. EC2151
In Monster Tale's case, the music is the only thing worth coming back to after finishing the game.
ftninja
Has anyone mentioned Assassin's Creed III yet? Cuz holy fuck that music is awesome. Liberation, too. The music that plays when you're doing a Boston Brawler mission is just. So freaking cool. And they called it Fight Club. Freedom Fighter track is good too. Btw, hi all!
