Geoffrey Taucer Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Oooooh, man, I heard this as a wip, and knew it would be great. Very beautiful (if a bit slow). Guitars are well done, vocals are beautiful. Percussion is brilliant. Overall, very beautiful mix. Quote
Danneman Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Oh this went straight to my MP3-player. Listened to it over and over again on my way to work. Very soothing. Quote
WolverineDK Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I can imagine making love to a woman with this melody in the background. So yes, it is a sweet cover version of the theme. And well, it is a sweet slow song Quote
Prasa_U. Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Yep, very nice piece of music. I especially liked the acoustic guitar "pangs" in the second half, especially when combined with voice. Very enjoyable to listen to! Quote
Broken Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I love the laid back style of this mix and the vocal/ string duet at the end. This is very enjoybale to listen to overall. It's the most relaxing remix that I can recall listening to in quite a while. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 As good as I remember it from the WIP thread, only this time with the benefit of having the intonation issue in the vocals at the end replaced with some beautiful harmony. I normally prefer songs to be energetic, but something like this has such a nice harmonic quality, it is equally excellent. Must be the northern European sense of melody shining through. The texture of the guitar contrasts the smooth pads and vocals perfectly, and the drums subtly punctuate the structure without being over or under-bearing. I really like this track and i'm glad to see it on the front page. Highly recommended. Quote
Radiowar Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I like the lofi sound (about as lofi as you can get on OCR), good use of tabla as well. Very good. Quote
Hale-Bopp Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Oh wow, djpretzel wasn't kidding about the Twin Peaks vibe. I'm totally catching it. I'm loving this. Not sure how I feel about the percussion at times. Perhaps they're a bit MIDI-ish. It's not too much though to take away from the overall song. I wonder if more acoustic sounding drums would work better, but I don't know. The vocals fit the song's style perfectly. You have a very nice voice. Harmonies put this song over the top in a very nice way. There's so much sweetness at the end, so much that in the right mood and setting, would definitely bring emotional tears to my eyes. Very nice mixing and instrumentation all around. Good job on this! I will most definitely be listening to this again and again. Quote

WolverineDK Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I must agree, there is some Twin Peaks over it too. Quote
Martin Penwald Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Despite being very laid back and chilly, there's a lot going on in this mix. I really like the electric guitar, as it adds a certain degree of melancholy to the song (reminds me somewhat of Tepid's A rose for Zelda ReMix). Nice work. Quote
polar- Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Thanks for all the positive feedback, i'm glad some of you liked it Quote
NeOmega Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 This one I liked, but wasn't sure I liked it enough to give it 5 stars. After a couple of months of having it on rotation, I found I enjoyed it more and more, feeling the relaxing, return to simplicity vibe, and the happiness of being able to chill. Homecoming. It moved me a little more every time I heard it, until I finally decided it was a favorite. Quote
42 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Now this is cute. It has a nicely nostalgic flair to it, not the sappy over the top kind but the kind that would make its listeners take one of those larger than normal sighs and exhale it with a big smile and a faraway look in their eyes. You know what I mean. It's pretty good, very nice, smooth and soothing, but all in all, I don't really care for it. Quote
Emunator Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Yeah, this has the mood of a time when you'd sit, look out at the sunset, and reminisce over everything you've done that day... a nice close to a long journey home, if you will. Nice guitar work, toward the end when the vocal harmonies are juxtaposed with the soft drumbeats and the acoustic guitar notes, it's pure bliss The ending caught me off guard a little but in a good way. Highly recommended for anyone looking for some very thoughtful, mellow music! Quote
OceansAndrew Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I'm just bumping this one to say how much i love it. Polar, do some more mixes, please! Quote

DragonAvenger Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I have to say, listening to this one slowly expand was a really nice thing after a day of work. It never gets huge, but it doesn't need to, nice reflection on the remixer's part. My one slight disappointment is that I'm not crazy about the vibrato on the beginning notes, but I can easily put that aside. Chill, quiet, relaxing, nice work. Quote
MechaFone Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 A nice, relaxing ballad type song. I'll be using this to chill out to after my long days. Quote
WesternZypher Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Another "hit and run" mix - wherefore art thou, Polar, lol? Great stuff, relaxing and comforting, like the audial equivalent of hot coco or a nap. Or both. Quote
polar- Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Been busy with work, bands, touring, kids etc. I don't like the sound of hit and run But I've decided today that it's time to make a shot for a comeback on OCR. Gotta find an interesting source to remix. Quote
ad.mixx Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I'm reminded of Coldplay in a way. Very relaxing stuff here. I dig the guitar a lot. Please do make a comeback, this is good music. Quote
