Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!
Welcome to another PRC Round. Two rounds ago, GCJ claimed victory by making the most popular remix of Secret of Mana - The Legend. He selected the source for this round.
Source: Jet Set Radio – Sneakman (SEGA)
Page of the Guy Who Found Samples
Note: this song already has an Ocremix, it was in 2004 when HappyBivouac did a remix. He used 'Let Mom Sleep' and this source in the song. Check the link: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01146

It's not bronze, but gold for PlanarianHugger
PlanarianHugger, congratulations. You may select a source for PRC344. Send the source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to firstname.lastname@example.org (I prefer a PM @Ocremix). Send your source as fast as you can, but before next Friday (3 March), 10:59 AM ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT).
You may select any source for any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links:
http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).
Check the ThaSauce Page for the results and votes. There are some days left to vote and leave comments.
The next round already started: check it out:
I am really loving this idea here, but the execution falls short. As Gario mentioned, the vocalist's style is really fitting for this style but sadly she does fall flat in several places, most noticeable in the lower registers. I agree that a bit of pitch correction would do wonders. Also I loved the harmonized sections. The instrumentation is also alright, though it does feel mechanical sometimes, it's not the focus of the song. As the vocals draw so much attention you can get away with a bit of stiffness/fakeness in the instruments and their dynamics.
Gario is on point on the off-beat nature of the performance around 3:10. An easy fix.
I'm also having issues hearing the original source in this, and I know this soundtrack by heart, sf64 being my most played n64 game. I'm not sure if the arrangement can be changed at this point but I would recommend making the source connection more evident.
I think that with this kind of track with so much vocal focus, a second pass to make them shine throughout the entirety of the duration of the song would be great. When she hits her stride she gets lovely and epic results out of her voice. I would really love to see this on the frontpage so if possible, think about the suggested corrections and hit us again.
