  1. Jet Set Radio fans! Check out the vocal mix to "Humming the Bassline", one of the songs from Jet Set Radio. Kicking it old school with the lyrics. Enjoy! LEt me know what you think! The original song was done by Hideki Naganuma

  3. Metal Man's workspace looks super comfy. Here's mine ... I plan on building bass traps in summer and move some stuff around (like the closet on the left) to tackle accoustic problems with the room.

  4. Not even my style and I have to bow to this creation. Really crushes the groove. Lots and lots of interesting things here; it's like every 10 seconds my ears perked up at another unexpected handling of the rhythm/harmony/melody/sequencing/percussion. You can tell this was in the hands of someone who knew what they were doing. Really impressive. I recommend for anyone regardless of style.

  6. Oh much improvement over the first one! I love that cafe music feel to this. Personally I like it, I love the arrangement. I dont know if its possible, if the trumpet or the instruments that carry the main melody could be louder. Maybe thats the result of your 3rd trumpet missing lol So did you play along with the ipod track?

  7. HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING. I love absolutely everything about this mix. The bass, the B3, the piano, the composition, the production, the arrangement..... I could go on.

  8. Good to see someone else representing the metal pak for addictive drums 2! I'm also jealous of that strat and the accent. I think this sounds great as is, but why not double-track the rhythm guitars? Regardless - awesome playing!

  9. In the interest of making the forums easier to sign up for and more accessible to everyone, we've made some changes to registration. In the past, we've had it so that new accounts had to be manually vetted and activated; this was to avoid spam accounts and the like. This worked, but a side-effect was that new members couldn't engage in the community immediately and would become discouraged from participating. To move forward, we've done the following things: Updated our manual registration form to use the latest reCAPTCHA. This is to help fight spam accounts. Removed administrator approval from the registration process. New members will be able to post immediately following email verification. Enabled new members to register using their social media accounts. New members can now use Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ to register. If you're already registered for the forums, you can link your existing forum account to any/all of your social media accounts by going to your Account Settings and clicking the relevant links. Once you do so, you'll be able to use your social media account to sign-in, as opposed to a traditional username/password sign-in. If you have any friends who are interested in OC ReMix but haven't joined the forums, get 'em over here and get 'em involved! Between album projects, competitions, and gaming discussions, there's a lot to do here. If you run into any registration or account linking issues, please let us know right here in this thread. Thanks!

  10. Double-posting because deal with it We're getting good stuff in. WAV of "Let Me Know The Truth" from RiverSound, and "Prelude" from Rexy, two of the key songs we needed for the album. I am trying to get in touch with some other people to see if they're still doing stuff. The list of unclaimed songs got removed, recruitment is over. I think I'll end up doing "Deep Under the Water" since it's one of my favorites and it ended up on the cutting floor. Hopefully I don't have to do Elia too, I am still trying to find out what's up with kate and see if she's going to do it. As previously mentioned Sir Jordanius is also missing... If we figure out where everybody is and get things moving again, we could potentially be pretty close to finishing this off. --------- Cutting has taken place. If you don't see your claim listed anymore but still want to finish your song, please let me know. S E R I O U S B U S I N E S S

  11. Well, first of all, thanks a lot for sharing this! We also did a video with this where we covered the intro in a symphonic then funky fashion. Check it out if you want.

  12. Thank you friends. To help bring this to life really is special. It's the last big piece of the tri-FF experience (in hindsight that would have been a cool title for a triple-album). To work on these sibling albums for FF NES Trilogy has been a great experience and I appreciate everyone who helped create this whole thing. After losing ff9, it took working with so many brilliant artists to even give me the confidence to try doing a large album again. (FF1 and FF2 are around 20 songs each, not all that large). So in other words... gosh, thanks guys. You are an inspiration, and each WIP brings me much joy, like seeing a duck walking next to a pond. OK, so we have an album the size of FF1 or FF2 already finished here. That's awesome. But we still have roughly the size of another album left to finish. (half done...) But we can do it, I've seen it with 2 albums already.

  16. Because FF13 epitomizes all aspects of Japanese culture? Your theory here is all sorts of weird, as if the later FF installments could somehow encapsulate an entire people. I wouldn't presume to speak knowingly about what a Japanese person would or would not bat an eyelash at - or an American person, for that matter. For my money, I'd summarize the problem with two bullet points: The FF universe has not survived the move to voice acting all that well; what once was text dialogue that the reader could imbue with emotion & gravitas now leaves less to the imagination, and suffers from it. I'd rather SE spent HALF of their CG budget on A/B testing different voice actors & voice acting directors, & writers that understand the difference between written dialogue and spoken dialogue. At this point, if that's not possible, I'd prefer they just switch back to text. I actually like the system that Fire Emblem: Awakening uses, with little mini-phrases & expressions substituting for the full text of what's being said, augmenting it. OR just make it ALL in some gibberish made up language. ANYTHING is preferable to what we've been getting. There seems to be a general, fundamental mistake that MORE ELABORATE = BETTER. It's easy to confuse intricacy with quality; I'm not saying that as FF games develop they shouldn't alter the formula a bit, but it feels like there's this false pressure to make most changes additive, when I think stripping away & making subtractive (or even regressive) changes makes a ton of sense, based on the story you're trying to tell. I really TRIED to play FF13, but for the life of me, everything felt so elaborate but simultaneously so devoid of soul that I simply couldn't proceed. Storytelling has been at the heart of the series & is what I feel it has excelled at in most of its cherished installments. It makes no sense to attribute bad storytelling & pacing to Japanese culture when they've gotten it right so many times in the past.

  18. My only hope is that they'll stop driving the series into the ground with their J-Pop crap, ridiculous storylines, awful voice actors, and anything that looks, sounds, or smells anything like Snow from XIII. I want my old FF back.
