New FREE WillRock Album Release: Journey to the Centre of the World
Chimpazilla and 2 others reacted to WillRock for a topic
Sup OCR! Journey to the Centre of the World is my second full length original album, and is available for download at Bandcamp! Journey to the Centre of the World is a 10 track album, which i've been working on for the past 2-3 years. The album is a big fat 80's inspired Chiptune/Rock fusion. It has authentic chiptunes, less authentic chiptunes, and big fat 80s production with operatic singing and crazy synth/guitar solos! And it's FREE!!! https://willrock1.bandcamp.com/album/journey-to-the-centre-of-the-world Track 1 features the Vocal Talents of Valentino Francavilla (Best known as the vocalist of ShockFront) and the famitracker chops of @DaMonz and the album also features a Remix by OCRs @DDRKirby(ISQ)! You can download it on Bandcamp, or on overclocked records for the small price of free, but every donation helps me support myself and continue to make great music! If you end up enjoying the music, please consider paying what you think is a fair price for the download Thanks guys! REALLY hope you enjoy this one, a lot of effort went into it!3 points -
Quite a bit of activity the past few days, so I thought it'd be good to share some updates. The tracks by DusK, Tuberz McGee and Jorito (yep, me) are basically fully done (if we all can get over the never ending last nitpicks we obsess over ) So that's 3 tracks that I would consider finished. Furthermore, Audiocolor updated his track and it's also very near final. Same goes for WillRock. Chernabogue is waiting for recordings of his army of guitarists, bassists and sax players and by the looks of it he'll be in time for the deadline. KingTiger received his guitar recordings too, and also things have settled down for him somewhat so that he can get his track in better shape. We're still waiting to hear back from @zykO, @Lucasonic and @Bowlerhat, hope their tracks are still on schedule and going well2 points

Here is a track that I orchestrated and had recorded live. I really love some of the tracks from FFX-2 and this theme is actually one of the most emotional FF themes out there, imo. What do you all think?1 point

Star Wolf - Dubstep Remix (Update 11/31)
TheChargingRhino reacted to Gario for a topic
(As a side note this sounds way more amazing on my nice headphones, I don't regret checking it on them) To be honest, I thought there might've been some production heat on it, but it was actually my piss-poor headphones at work. This sounds pretty darn good, actually, on my decent set-up.1 point -
Lylat System CLEAR: A Star Fox Tribute Album
TheChargingRhino reacted to Starphoenix for a topic
True to my word, I got my project started this weekend. Have about 40 secs of an intro I've been playing around with to try and build my instruments and soundscape. So far the chill has been obtained. UPDATE: Managed to get more work done. At around 2:20 mark. Zoness is proving to be a tad more challenging of a source than I thought, but so far it is going well. Pretty pleased with the results thus far. I should have a rough WIP done by this weekend. And the title for my track is going to be Diving into the Deep Green Abyss.1 point -
Star Wolf - Dubstep Remix (Update 11/31)

While I still have the numbers up (and before I listen on my other headphones), I thought I'd point out those numbers, as far as source usage goes. I calculate 68 seconds of source in this bad boy. That puts it at about 36% source in the arrangement. I have no idea whether or not you planned on submitting the track (you very well could just be showing off in here, which is great, in my book), but IF you were, you'd definitely be called out for the track being too liberal. That doesn't take anything away from the track in its own right, as it still sounds pretty damn good, but I thought I'd point that out, in case you ever, maybe, possibly wanted to submit the track. I kind of hope you do, since real, raw dubstep is sorely misrepresented on the site, at the moment.1 point -
YoshiBlade reached out to me about a month ago with his spooky album concept and asked me if I could join. 'Unfortunately' I was tied up in holidays and some album co directing so I couldn't make it. Pity since I had a cool track for it, but it's great to see it released nonetheless! I had the privilege of listening to quite a few of the tracks (I remember the Protodome track from our Remixing With The Stars team up), and it's a spooky, eerie set of tracks for sure that will go along well with any Halloween. Gotta check out the voice acting though, after "The Old Mansion by the Road" I can handle some more1 point

MnP 62: Super Metroid - Red Brinstar
HoboKa reacted to MindWanderer for a topic
Yeah, look for a reverse boss order run sometime, it's pretty fascinating.1 point -
Oh, you CAN use plasma on Phantoom, but that's even HARDER to do than getting it for Kraid, and you HAVE to have ice and grapple. I'm working on a run to do that now, but it's incredibly difficult to do, and requires a little glitching at one point (that's the part I'm stuck at, now). I still wanna plasma Phantoom, though, so yeah.1 point

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! OC ReMix and YoshiBlade present Candy Corn! October 31, 2016 Contact: press@ocremix.org FAIRFAX, VA...To celebrate Halloween, OC ReMixer YoshiBlade has released the community's latest album, Candy Corn. Candy Corn features six dark electronic tracks by YoshiBlade arranging music from several video games for Halloween, as well as three special guest skits, and is available for free download at http://ocremix.org/info/Candy_Corn. This album was produced to help promote video game music, was made by fans, for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of the publishers or developers of the original games; all original compositions are copyright their respective owners. The album's selection of games interpreted for Halloween includes: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Castlevania (N64) Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin Chrono Trigger Pokémon Red Version. Alongside the music are several radio drama pieces written by YoshiBlade with voice acting by Vince "VinnyMac" Sparzak, OverClocked PodCast host Stephen Kelly, Abigail Endsley, and Joe "XPRTNovice" Zieja, who recently voiced Fox McCloud for Nintendo's animated short Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins. "I am very, very proud of the teamwork that took place," YoshiBlade remarked. "I have several scripts/skits that I dream up daily and it really felt incredible to hear them come to life!" With a mixture of drum & bass, mellow, and industrial elements together with fun audio clips, YoshiBlade structured Candy Corn as a dynamic, mysterious, and complete listening experience for Halloween. "This project is the progeny of those anthology-style movies and TV shows, a la Tales from the Crypt, Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside," he explained. "In that vein, every track I consider a story leading into the next one, with the radio-style dramas serving as the reset button, the point of mental collection, then starting a new section. I really hope you enjoy the project!" Candy Corn marks the third Halloween album release for the OC ReMix community. Last year, OCR released the Castlevania-based album trilogy Vampire Variations, and Joshua Morse created the site's first solo artist album with his 2009 Castlevania tribute Sonata of the Damned. About OverClocked ReMix Founded in 1999, OverClocked ReMix is an organization dedicated to the appreciation and promotion of video game music as an art form. Super missiles are your friend; kill them geemers and it makes that portion a breeze. Honestly, my favorite skip is against the Varia suit. Hard as shit to do, though, and it's not good at all for speed running for me (Get to one room that doesn't kill you, then stock up on health the old fashioned way). I know there are better ways to do it, but whatevs - I'm not looking to get on Speedrun archives anytime soon. It DOES allow you to get the wave beam and plasma before Kraid, which makes for a hilarious fight against him later.1 point

Halloween Remix Compilation (DANSE MACABRE 5)
Guy In Rubber Suit reacted to VikingGuitar for a topic
Hi all! You might know me from some of my previous remix albums and tracks on compilations (Chronicles of Time, Spectrum of Mana, Vampire Variations, etc). For the past few years, I've put together a yearly Halloween horror music remix compilation featuring various musicians from the VGM scene. We did another one this year, and all proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders and ASPCA. It's free to download/stream, but if you want to toss a few bucks towards a good cause, we'd appreciate it! Thanks for listening, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Viking Guitar Productions Presents DANSE MACABRE 51 point -
Synthesis Practice/Education Inspiration
timaeus222 reacted to APZX for a topic
What gets me is synthesizers themselves. Take your beloved Sytrus for example. Right there you've got an incredibly powerful FM & Subtractive synth. Want bells? No problem. Want strings? No problem. Clean FM Bass? No problem. I mean the amount of sounds that are lurking inside of Sytrus is simply absurd. But contrast that with say the Roland Juno-60. There are tons of emulations of it available, but it is such a simple synth yet capable a very wide range of sounds. Synths like the Roland D-50 with its Linear Arithmetic synthesis engine to Yamaha's DX7 or even Casio's CZ1000 with its Phase Distortion synthesis. How can one not want to explore what they have on offer?Take the Oberheim SEM as an example. An incredibly simple synth, yet when you put 8 of them together you get the Oberheim 8-Voice. What really got me thinking this way was Gordon Reid's excellent Synth Secrets. I try to let the synth tell me where I should take the sound. Sure, I might start off with the idea of trying to make a brass sound, but it could very quickly turn into some sonic mayhem of awesomeness.1 point
