  1. I'm not familiar with the original, so i'm not sure what to think about the changed melody. It sounds good, so no worries. I think that the tone color of the song was too consistent for the melodic structure. It was somewhat repetative, so keeping the same instruments for all the sections makes it even more so. Mixing up what instruments used would have improved it immensely, but as is, its still a pretty fun mix.
  2. pretty good stuff, great way to start my morning; thanks
  3. this is more likely. i'm guessing he didnt actually die until they cut out his heart.
  4. I saw it last night and had a good time. Better than the second, dont totally remember all of the first one. You do have to pay at attention, but it seemed to cover most of the threads of story. Strange but my favorite part was seeing Davey Jones as an actual dude. Sweet beard IMO, everyone should have one.
  5. This mix reminds me of a wobbly army of tiny frogs marching along. Pretty strange if you ask me. I like the burping frog. The drums are pretty sweet, but im not really digging the source itself. These things happen I guess.
  6. I think you (or perhaps me, someone correct me if I am wrong) are misunderstanding that you are giving up distribution rights. You can still do whatever you want with your mix, it just can't distribute the mix with the OCR tag on it. Say I created the awesome "Linkin Schala" mix, and it made it onto OCR. Basically now, there would be 2 versions of the mix, the "Linkin Schala", and "Linkin Schala OcRemix". They sound exactly the same, and I can do whatever the hell I wanted with the "Linkin Schala" mix as far as distribution. The OCR version, stays with them and has become part of the OCR history, and they can distribute it as they see fit, as long as it is not-for-profit, but I can't distribute it or anything. Basically I am entrusting a copy of the mix to OCR. I think the system in place is good, and I appreciate the effort being made to involve the community.
  7. looks sweet, and thank you blizz, letting it run on macs as well. <3
  8. A nice, cheery mix. I am enjoying the bells and epiano a lot. I havnt heard the original, so i choose not to comment on the arrangement aspect of the mix, but the synths are good, and the melody is fun. The hihats do seem a little lofi, and i think cleaner ones would sound better, but I like this mix overall.
  9. Pretty awesome mix, i'm surprised there arent more comments. I am really loving the synths here, and the bass is pretty good as well. A little more high end in the percussion would make it snap a bit more, but overall a good mix.
  10. I am getting close to finishing Snakepit, I havnt posted a wip in a long time because I want it to be a surprise. ^_____________________________^
  11. I think the title is a bit misleading, as this is more about the flute melody rather than the groove, but no worries. I like the piano and percussion. Very pretty song, but it is too relaxing for me to listen to right now in the morning. so..sleepy.... zzzz
  12. Kindof rare to see a project mix with so few comments, and it's too bad, because this mix has some awesome elements which make it really unique, and very well done. I think the issue is that even though it's a very well done mix, the genre isn't the most popular, and may come across as cheesy to some. The vocals and brass are phenominal, as is the percussion. I really like this one; it has a distinctive sound that sounds very authentic. I encourage everyone to check this one out; super high quality stuff.
  13. Kick ass drums. They are super thick and completely grimy and evil sounding. Very well chosen synths as well, I can totally imagine this in the area where it is supposed to play during. The arrangement seems to be a bit on the conservative side, and short, but it still is a very enjoyable mix.
  14. Way too basic for my tastes, it sounds like a once-throuh with a little bit of extra synth. Sorry, not a fan.
  15. This is another overlooked Radical Dreamers mix, with a lot of personalization added. Great synths, beats, and plenty of additional sections make this a creative and interesting take on a highly mixed song. The piano compling near the end that obscured the main melody is fantastic and what really made the song for me. The movie quotes are sparsely used (as they should be) and relevant (as they especially should be), and actually add rather than detract. It seems most mixes that throw in quotes are just trying to kill some time, but in this case it works well. Recommended.
  16. Way too short for anything to really happen, but the guitar tone was nice.
  17. A bit repetitive, but I love the piano and the epic rhythm going on throughout. Good 80's training montage music, as well as driving music. The flute had some weird notation when it was doing a run, and it just seemed weird. Otherwsie good sequencing. I think a stronger B section would really kick this mix over the top.
  18. Good theme, it has a great beat and a very distinct sound to it. If you asked me, i'd have guessed it was from Xenogears, due to the heavy sitar use. Cool stuff, I like it.
  19. Super high quality synth work, and great textures, but it seems to me that the source tune is a bit bland? There is a bit of cool riffage sprinkled throughout, but the strengths of the mix come from the attention to detail and personalization. I guess the lesson here is that Mutagene can take a lame source and make it good. Nice work.
  20. Very nice mix, this'd be amazing with a real guitar, but as is, a very strong entry. I am a big fan of the subtleties in the guitar rhythm, and the backing synths. There's a lot of texture hidden under the surface, and after repeated listens, it comes out beautifully. Minor nitpicking would be the drums could use a little bit more reverb, and overall it's too quiet.
  21. I am a big fan of Chuck's Deflektor mix, and this one is good as well, but I think that regardless of the mix quality, I just generally dislike the bomberman theme. The mix is well produced for a chiptune and is very cheerful.
  22. Nice and atmospheric. I'm not personally convinced that the drum sounds were the best. The snare is really nice, but is hitting a little too hard for the rest of the song. Brings back some cool memories, I only played the game for a little while, but the style of music is very familiar.
  23. Chill for sure, though not terribly adventurous. The sound quality is nice, and like most have already said, it's a completely relaxing mix. Obscure game + subtle mix = no comments, apparently. Too bad, this is good stuff.
  24. Pretty nice sample quality, especially considering the age of the mix, but I have to admit im not really digging the bass sound. There is a lot of energy in the percussion without having a huge drum sound, and overall it meshed pretty well, with the bass exception. The interpretation is a little too basic for my tastes, but the song is short enough that it doesn't over-repeat.
  25. Here i'm not sure the elements really mesh that well. There seems to be a disconnect between the drums and synths. It is pretty clear too that the drum samples do a huge disservice to the very nice programming. The whole thing is like a huge, kick ass drum solo, with some some synths on top. Worth a listen or two, however.
