  1. I think for the vocals to fit properly, it should have been slowed down a bit. Regardless, it's decent, but not as good as the classic Final fantasy one.
  2. Way too minimalist to keep my interest, and it sounds like the file might be corrupted as well. It sounds like a skipping record in a few parts, and i'm pretty certain that it isn't intentional.
  3. I got a good laugh when the song started. The straight up midi guitar is hilarious. add the ungrounded drums and synths that spasm without any sort of anchor and you have a mix that i'm just not a fan of. Sorry
  4. The drums here are really pretty cool but the rest is a little too weak in my opinion. The synths are lo-fi and the bassline is cool but by the end of the song you are ready to hear something else.
  5. I love the flute/strings/harpsichord used here. I don't remember the soundtrack to king's quest 5, though I can hear the similarities to the LoTR soundtrack, and forsome reason it reminds me of the princess bride soundtrack as well. My only real complaint is that the french horn range gets impossibly high in one section, and the ending is too abrupt. Otherwise an awesome mix.
  6. A bit overly midi sounding, but given the submit date, not a huge issue. It does seem a bit too short and underdeveloped; It's a nice and relaxing piece, but doesn't really evolve much throughout, with the exception of the percussion and a little bit of backing choir. The constant guitar arpeggios Should have transitioned into chords and the driving rhythm given to something else for a bit. THe constant driving notes make it difficult to relax like the rest of the mix is trying to encourage us to do. Overall though, it's a nice bit of work, though I don't think i've heard the original. The instruments mesh well together and there is a good feel for the outdoors. The counterpoint is well excecuted, and the beat adds texture without disturbing the feel.
  7. It's a little rough around the edges but I think it adds to the charm. It's very moody and some of the chords are incredibly beautiful. I think with a bit of polish this would have sounded completely pro, but as is it's still something I really enjoy.
  8. I spent a ton of time recently doing saxophone takes for gale, and am just about where I want to be for that aspect of the mix. Expect an update to my wip by the weekend.
  9. This one has a great feeling to it. Clean and Clear with a nice melody. I really like this one.
  10. Sweet work, though I think you should have used real guitar. The arpeggios and the synths chosen are spot on. Nice work.
  11. Pretty sweet remix, theres is a lot of energy and the sounds are varied and constantly changing. Very subtle and skillful work here, I really am digging this mix. Recommended.
  12. The electro feel in this nice, but the drums just seem really lifeless to me. The hihats need some variation, and the kick lacks punch. The beat also stays too consistant and is never changed up, it just runs on autopilot for the duration of the mix. Cool synths, but the drums are too phoned in, imo.
  13. Drums feel very very generic and dry, but i like the bell tones. Overall the mix seems a little too vanilla for my tastes, but it's cool that you did it all on a demo version of the software.
  14. Sam has some great advice, and i'll sortof build off of the mouthpiece/reed part and say that a lot of the faux pas for equipment selection in classical are the best for rocking out with anything else. Get a bright sounding mouthpiece and buy a bunch of different reeds and try some stuff you normally wouldn't. Your sound needs to cut and cut hard, so bright isn't a bad thing here. Getting a mouthpiece with a baffle will really help shape your sound into something that really cooks. Using more pliable reeds (2.5 or even 2) give you a lot more control and also sound a lot funkier than something heavier, and maybe even experiment with some weird stuff like plastic coated reeds. Also don't be shy about adjusting your embrochure; when I am ripping stuff out, i'll tend to have things a bit tighter on the sites of my mouth. Regardless, you will need a ton of breath support, and to help make sure your posture is correct, stand up when recording.
  15. I agree with the judges that the beat is too loud, the mix is supafunky and has a lot of style. If I had a low rider and didn't live in barren tundras of Minnesota, I'd be bumpin to this LIKE EVERY DAY. The piano doesn't feel very natural, but it doesn't last long enough to be a glaring issue. I love the wiggly synth leads, and even though it is painfully loud, the beat is tight. The breakdown of sonic sound effects used musically reminds me a bit of a BT track, but it is handled with way more skill. Super props, you are one funky dude.
  16. yeah, just get a summon. There was a level 15 dranaei shaman running around shattrath last night.
  17. repetative, but the source is good, so I can let it slide.
  18. The samples are a little cheap for my tastes in some spots, and it starts out pretty reliant on the source, but it picks up later on and has a good deal of riffing over the original chord progression. The stop/start is terrible though. It is too abrupt in both the start and the stop, and it sounds like the song ended early and then a similar sounding new song started up.
  19. Well produced, especially considering the time frame where this was released. I'm not totally sold on the lead synth, but it has a lot of personality, which is really important. The constant "get ready"s were grating though. What does that dude want from me? I'm ready! I promise! Overall a funky and bouncing mix, which is pretty enjoyable.
  20. Solid lofi beat, but I didn't think the melody really fits the rhythm used, and the suggestion to take it into a minor key would be a pretty cool mix. Pretty obvious it's an earlier DJP mix, and as he even said himself, not something we completely committed to. Good bg loopage, but doesn't really shine on it's own.
  21. Straightforward but enjoyable, I would like it a lot more if there wasn't the dissonance right after the modulation. Whatever it is, it is far in the background and is in a different (maybe the original) key. Overall a very cheerful remix; my favorite kind. The melody near the end is great.
  22. Somewhat-industrial meets somewhat-80's-new-wave. I have to agree that the sound effect is way too loud in the mix, though the drums cut through pretty well. Can't say i'm a huge fan of this mix.
  23. Sooo midi.. Sorry but the sound quality of this really prevents me from getting into this. There are some good ideas presented, but it just sounds cheap. The piano transition could have been a little less abrupt as well. With better samples and some polish this could be an awesome mix.
  24. Im not a huge fan of the ending; i dont think it fits all that well, but the mix iteself is very enjoyable. I am digging the beat, and it is one of the better chill mixes i've heard in awhile.
  25. People are telling me to hurry up to 70 I am level 62 though, and am in the top 10 of leveled blood elf paladins, but I had 1-60 to get through first ;_;
