  1. Something I was going to do for the MM9 project but I haven't really heard from k-wix so whatever, it'lkl just be another plain ol' remix. Its certainly not the most conservative remix out there but I feel its recognizable enough and the bassline is essentially jacked straight out of the game (and 303-ified) Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2ngkmynzmgr Source: The ending is kinda slapped on but aside from that I don't plan on stretching it out any longer unless the reception is universally negative.
  2. So the whole album just leaked and I'm listening to it. Really I'm assuming they released the title track early because its one of the weakest tracks on the album, because so far Omen has been kinda cool as it is, Thunder is insanely cool, Colours is pretty groovy, and though the studio version of Take Me to the Hospital is a bit disappointing, its still hella tight. Really the only other tracks I haven't really liked are Run with the Wolves and Piranha. Omen Reprise is also worth mentioning just because it feels so much like a throwback to their "Weather Experience" days and I kinda wish it wasn't so short, and I wouldn't have immediately guessed that Stand Up was a Prodigy track. Overall its a pretty good album. Its not Experience, its not Music for the Jilted Generation, and its not Fat of the Land, but its still a good album in its own right and even though it probably won't blow any minds or have nearly as big of an impact as their last two albums, its not a bad release in the slightest.
  3. Because I'm shit at guitar except for the 3 Blood Brothers, 1 Devo, and 1 Scott Walker song I can play
  4. What if I lied and said Dream Theater was playing both festivals?
  5. So I kind of have a sketch project going. The intro is really slapped on but at least you all can see where I'm going with this: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?4qdgmy2jo2j P.S. - Its a Venus Lighthouse Remix
  6. Lol, that was like, almost the exact same as the rumored line-up earlier. Roni Size & Reprazent is going to be at Coachella this year though, and Deadmau5 is stilled rumored to be at Bonnaroo.
  7. Now that both line-ups have been announced, anyone going to either of these festivals? I've normally been a pretty big Coachella fan over the years (but not enough to go) but this year the Bonnaroo line-up is good enough I'm going to go. The undercard is a bit disappointing but primarily because I don't know half of them, but the bigger names look fantastic. Might be good for an impromptu OCR meetup as well.
  8. Not even close. A lot of rap production uses samples but quite a bit of it is completely original or the samples are so mangled it doesn't matter. An examples of this:
  9. Every time I see these topics I think: I can't think of how many hours I spent opn that game and on that track. Now imagine it with a more fun physics engine, like Burnout but even LESS serious.
  10. I heard an earlier version of this but I don't think I commented. Anywho... 0:00-1:00 I love the atmosphere, the drums get a wee bit tiresome by the time the section ends though so you may try adding in little changes or something to switch up (maybe some of the samples from the 1:30 section or something) 1:00-1:59 I like this quite a bit, good job 1:59-2:28 This section is a bit annoying because its very very similar to the last section without much added to it. Maybe try adding in some other element but its a bit redundant as it. 2:28-3:20 Very nice, good work here. I especially like the electric piano 3:20-End I love the piano in this section, along with the drumwork. Really not much I'd change Overall I'm very impressed and I'd be way more than shocked if this didn't pass.
  11. I've actually gone through a couple of sketches of Kolima Forest, but they weren't really that good. I might end up with something though...
  12. Ok, so another update. I took out my rap but kinda feel like that was a mistake, but I'm probably just going to record a new verse on it that isn't as generic. I also added a few new synth lines to beef up certain sections. New link: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?r1ymr2nzhnx
  13. There is also a Virus mod for Z3ta+ that uses the Virus Waveforms
  14. You have to admit that the Virus has had a big hand in creating a lot of electronic tracks though. I had one for like, a week or two and I kind of regret taking it back (I couldn't part with $2000 at that point) and its like the Rolls Royce of synths. THAT SAID, baaaad first synth and really only needed if you're top of the pops to begin with (f you catch my drift). The first REAL synth I got I cannot reccomend enough: Z3ta+. It is 6 years old now but still fantastic, and once you learn it you've learned most modern sytnhs. Albino is also fantastive, but Z3ta+ is the easiest to wrap your head around if you aren't used to using complex synths.
  15. Hah, as soon as you mentioned you had a Trentemoller-styled track in the queue I was completely excited. Not a giant fan of the super-saws, but I absolutely love the breakdown about 1/3rd of the way through, especially the bass work. Damn good, well done.
  16. My remix might be suitable (there is an instrumental version I posted in the reviews) but it may be a bit too moody for you.
  17. Just out of curiosity, is this an official OCR project? t doesn't seem to be discussed as much as the other ones.
  18. A lot of that is just because most of the melody came from the bassline, which I really didn't want to use. Yeah, I kind of had that feeling at one point as well (second drop, after the reese where ts the 808 kicks for bass), I may try to add a techy edge to this... Well during the intro it is sidechained to every other beat. Also, there really is no release on it as they are all being triggered as samples. It never really bothered me but I may look into it. Singing at the end?
  19. Sounds pretty awesome, I pm'ed (twice), one of which included a WIP I just started.
  20. Not really though, just because Rez mainly just had a bunch of Techno tracks by relatively recognizable artists, with the exception of the final track which is by a pretty damn big name in electronic music (Adam Freeland).
  21. To be honest, you shouldn't rely too much on compression to give you the sound you want on drums. The key to a good drum sound is in the EQ and most importantly the sample you're starting with. As for it altering the sound of other things, do you have a limiter on your master channel? What you're hearing is when the snare gets too loud the limiter has to push down the volume of other elements to compensate, this is generally referring to as "pumping" and unless used rhythmically like sidechaining (which should always be done with a compressor designed for that purpose anyway) it almost always sounds bad.
  22. Really if one wants to do an experimental remix all they have to do is start off with an experimental source (which means Final Fantasy games are probably out of the question)
  23. I absolutely love the vocal samples on the track. So far the best tracks from the album I'm hearing are the ones where they realize that MftJG was a better sound for them as opposed to FotL. I also just realized that Noisia did a remix to Omen, which is kind of ridiculous. The bass is absolutely insane but I kind of miss the breakdown thats in the original track. Both are great tunes in their respective rights though (every time I listen to Omen I like it a little bit more): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKztNydJA64
