  5. hahahaha this happens all the time. Hell, I do this so much. alot of my remixes on ocr resemble certain pieces of music already written, but I find that making pieces of music that resemble already existing pieces of music is a great way to learn. And the whole elecman theme resembling journey and apparently REM (I wouldn't know about that one) that melodic phrase in the melody is used so much in mainstream music its crazy I've heard that in so many pieces of music I find it interesting because you hear things subconsciously, like maybe a piece of music on the radio in the background, you hear that piece of music in your head later, or something resembling it, then you think you've made it up as a result because you can't remember where you heard it or if you heard it at all. I remember hearing a piano piece played by a pupil in a piano lesson before me, and I used that melody in a school project later that week without realising I hadn't written it. Then when I went for my lesson the next week, I heard this same piano piece again and realized that i'd used part of that piece of music in my project, without even realising i'd done it
  6. I still think that southern shrine should be a bonus track, I'd remix that theme for the project if it was an available track, always had a cool idea for that which would fit the style of the project quite well
  7. you should opt for overlooked remix, I bet they would enjoy your stuff

  9. I still could do I guess I do believe BGC told me he would see me banned forever if I didn't resub it... I haven't resubbed it yet... Also, LT quote from the judges decision The guitar was actually PLAYED by me. No sequencing. Larry-bot fail <3 you really

  13. Well Tally Ho with a Bing and a Bong and a Buzz Buzz Buzz! Now everyone can be epically awesome at remixing and there is no judges panel to reject remixes! Nicework ocremix
  14. Well there are alot of factors involved in musical growth - musical background, your musical strengths and weaknesses, your educational growth with music, how often you work on your music and how seriously you take it... I do think age and time working with music is a factor, but there are so many others to consider on top of that as well as far as musical growth is concerned. For me, finding OverClocked Remix was one of the most important breakthroughs of my musical life - my music making skills have increased at a much more rapid rate than it was before I joined, and I don't think its a stretch of the imagination to think thats the same with a very high percentage of the musicians on this site.
  15. well lets see... I started doing midi sequencing about 5 years ago, but I didn't start with remixing and production (which all started with reason) until about 3 and a half years ago... and my remixes are mostly done using sequencing with a mouse, with the exception of my guitar playing (which has yet to appear in an ocremix of mine to date) Also Arcana, your comment about sequencing with the piano roll is very interesting... i've been doing sequencing for a VERY long time, much longer than intermediate production, and as a result I have a very good idea personally of what something will sound like from keying in the notes using the piano roll without hearing what i'm doing, I suppose the longer you mess with something your good at the more experience you gain in that field.
  16. The Unholy Trinity unites to give you some epic shiz. So, we have a finished product here, in which we each did a section of the remix... without listening to it. I shit you not, what we have here, is a remix of which, we had no idea what it sounded like when we made it. First part is Mine, Second is Proto's, and Third is Halc's. Here is the remix for your listening pleasure: http://tindeck.com/listen/lluj Disclaimer: Any references in the title to any OCR artists living or dead, is purely coincidental. No monkeys were harmed in the making of this remix.
