  1. I made some changes, mostly to the harmonies and some general guitar stuff. It does sound better without just playing the 5th notes. or
  2. Ya know, i was wondering the same myself. I love the game and the kickin' soundtrack it comes with. I've done a bunch of metal remixes and wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Check out my stuff at http://tindeck.com/users/nintenjoe64 . Some songs have multiple versions, so the file furthest up on the list is the latest version.
  3. This is a very nice start to the remix. I can hear the source, but you've definitely took it and transformed it into the 80s style you mentioned. Everything so far seems decent. Volumes, EQ's, and soundscape are all very good. My only suggestion, maybe its cause i'm a metal guy, it to bring the kick drum out a little more. Other than that, can't wait to hear it with guitars.
  4. I've never used Logic, but i have used FL Studio. FL, for me at least, took some time to really get into it, but that's probably true for any DAW you want to use. I use Mixcraft 5. Up until version 5, you couldn't import/export midi files, but now you can and it makes it SOOO much to edit/remix midi files. I find Mixcraft 5 very easy to use and its not too expensive. Its $75 for the program and you get a ton of free downloadable loops and effects. Either way, FL or Mixcraft 5 would be good choices.
  5. LMAO!! this seems like the kinda thing you can only make at 3am when your trying NOT to go to bed, lol. I can't even imagine how you came up with this, but that's why its damn brilliant.
  6. I almost forgot about this WIP. It takes that almost surreal sound of the source and doubles it. Its very entrancing, but only 1:24 long! Hopefully you'll get around to finishing it
  7. Lol, i know exactly what ya mean! I uploaded the track to ocrwip so you can see the time now. If you could let me know where those issues you pointed out are at in the timeline i can absolutely go back and see what changes i can make. I understand, i think, what you mean by the parts where the double harmony is just a fifth note variation and nothing more. Also, i'll have the song just end instead of fading out like that. I'm usually not too good with endings, lol. Thanks man.
  8. Gario, dude, i can't believe i missed this!! Chiptune badassery FTW! I love the overall sound of this remix. Your chiptune work along with that drum beat is very nice. I can't find anything to really complain about, and i know your not planning on subbing this, but its still very note worthy. I can't for the life of me write chiptunes. I suppose if i spent more time in FL i could. Although the DAW i use, Mixcraft, just came out with version 5 and it can now import and export MIDI files. So maybe now i'll have an easier time with it if i try again. BTW, I checked out your Phoenix Wright remix over on remix:thasauce and its pretty awesome as well. You electronic remixers have a knack for that kind of remix. I've tried, but no luck, lol.
  9. I haven't played this game in so long. For its time, i thought the graphics were really nice. Very bright and eye catching. The music was another great thing about the game. I think you really did this source good. The quality is also really nice considered it all live instruments. Its very well mastered and is very pleasing to the ear. I agree with everyone that it needs to be subbed. Especially since djpretzel is telling you! As for titles, how about Flowing Winds? I should go back and replay this game now!
  10. I wrote this track with just a couple riffs in mind and i'm really hoping you guys can give me feedback on it. Its got a sort of progressive rock sound to it. At least i think that's the genre this song would fall under. I wanna add some sort of lead, maybe a nice keyboard solo or something to the intro to help smooth it out a bit.
  11. Yeah, considering how long the track it, it it very well produced and is entirely enjoyable to listen to. Its very melodic and almost soothing. It reminds me a lot of Phendrana Drifts from the first Metroid Prime game. I suppose that's why "Winterbreeze" suits it so perfectly. That break around 3:40 is epic. Just the calmness from no drums and the piano keeping the nice mood going is nice. I am also suprised that you didn't get more feedback.
  12. Hello, i'm interested in an effect that sort of "fades in" the song. Where it goes from very quiet and almost distorted in the EQ to very clear for when the song kicks in. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY_B0fQ4DDg Its Shock by Fear Factory, but the intro effect is more what i'm interesed in. There's gotta be a somewhat easy way to do this, or at least a vst that'll do that. Hopefully.
  13. I went to go check this out and apparently its removed. I haven't seen you 'round these parts in a loooong time sonny. Sorry, bad western joke, lol.
  14. I loved this source. It just has the "i gotta fight to save the world" feel to it. That being said, i think there's some justice being done with this remix. It DEFINITELY needs to be finished! I think maybe the drums are a little on the weak side, but that orchestration makes up for it. Its very crisp and full sounding. Hopefully you'll have an update soon? HMMMMM???
  15. I think Emunator feels very strongly about this... This is brilliantly produced and mastered. I wish i could get such clean and clear results when mixing a track.... ANYWAYS....The synth choices are spot on and the drums are so tight it almost hurts, lol. I think the vocals at the end are hilarious. It caught me off guard, but it does help to understand this is only a WIP. haha Looking forward to an update.
  16. Yeah, the strings are little thin in the intro, but maybe that helps bring out the following parts. I'm liking that organ though in the intro. I think maybe when that synth jumps in for the first time that its a little overpowering? It just seems to jump right over everything. After that it seems alright though. Maybe just a slight volume tweak would fix that. I think the outro is actually very unique. That synth that jumps has such a hook to it. I would love to know what what vst that is? Either way, looking forward to an update!
  17. I love this remix. Its good to hear one finally. Sometimes that piano does clash with the rest of the track. Maybe if it were a different instrument. Maybe some other kind of square sounding synth? The rest of it though i thought was very catchy and you can still hear the source without it being a complete copy it. So far, its sounding like your almost finished with it. If not, looking forward to hearing the final version!
  18. Yeah, i don't have much to criticize other than maybe its a little drawn out in the beginning? Could be that your trying to figure where to go next with this. Waitin' for an update, should be great!
  19. Very well done. It brings me back to when i first played Ocarina Of Time. It has that wonderful sounding atmosphere to it. Looking forward to more of your work.
  20. Hey man, i really wanna check this out, but rapidshare can be a bitch. Try using tindeck.com or even megaupload.com instead.
  21. I think this is a great step forward. The one big thing that stands out to me is that bass never really seems to jump out. It needs to be a little more dominant, at least in most parts. The timpanis are definitely a great add though. I also think that maybe the overall track volume needs to be increased slightly. Other than that, i can't say anything bad about the track. Its come a long way and definitely has that epic sound you've been wanting to show.
  22. I think this sounds awesome. The acoustic guitars really help bring the whole piece together and they sound great. I did a metal version of the boss theme just before this theme in the game, but i think flows nicely. I can't really even comment on anything else you might need to do in this. Everything sounds great already.
  23. Yeah, i hear what your talking about. I've got some bass boosts in there, but it needs something extra though.
  24. Alright. I made that slight EQ change to the guitar in after the intro. It does make a slight difference. The other thing i did is replayed the solo, or at least the 2nd half of it. I wasn't too thrilled with the 2nd half. It's also a little clearer now as well. Other than that, i think i'm almost ready to sub this one.
  25. Nice job man. I've always loved this source as well. I don't necessarily think its too chaotic cause i love these types of remixes. My one suggestion regarding the rhythm guitars is too boost the EQ slightly around the 1K and 2K marks just to give it a slight more kick. The way the song flows from section to section is very fluid. Its not sporadic. I can't really say much else other than that it sounds really so far.
