Bionic Commando ReMixed: OK, We'll Groove - History
Dj Mokram replied to Brandon Strader's topic in Projects
John? Will? Anyone? The BC project has been on a hiatus for over 6 months now. Just, please don't let this project die like that. -
Not to be confused with: not the real deal. Not sure if n0c is aware of that one. What's the occasion btw? Did OCAD switch to Arecibo or something? O_o

UPDATE: ThaSauce Presented by OverClocked ReMix + a new album!
Dj Mokram replied to Fusion2004's topic in General Discussion
Yep, just like the login system, the various wip sections and other wonky pages. ThaSauce in itself has been in a work-in-progress state since the layout switch. But yeah, this is good news for those who were craving for the VGmix days. -
Woah! I'm really glad to have checked this thread despite not being familiar with that game/serie at all. At first this looked like it was gonna be another guitar-hero-style game, but then the course began... A really cool and refreshing concept imho, that seems to be equally fun and challenging. And the music. The music is awesome. Crazy in its own way, but this has literally opened new horizons for me. Alas, I'm not nearly skilled enough to remix any of those songs. But I thank you for sharing your love of this game. I'll definitely be giving AS:LT a shot.

Please try to include source links whenever making requests. It helps a lot, especially for games as obscure as Hagane. Anyway, here's a link to the source (with gameplay): Hagane is a cool mix of Shinobi, Strider and Skyblazer, with an interesting asian-folk influenced soundtrack. Stage1-1, Stage 2-2 and Stage 4-1 have a lot of potential for remixing as well.

Hey Mirb! Fyi these tracks are not the themes of Cid for the respective two FFT games: The correct Cid's themes are: Thunder God Cid's Theme (FFT) and Cid (FFTA2). When you're not sure, a quick search on VGMdb is generally the way to go. PS: once I've made enough progress with my FFXII Cid theme, and if no one has picked them, I'll be more than willing to arrange both.

finished Crusader of Centy / Soleil - Overworld Map
Dj Mokram replied to Kumori's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Yeah, I get where you're coming from. Sometimes the inspiration can get lost in the obsessive pursuit of production values. That's why it's always good to try and have as much fun with the source as one can, before doing anything else. The soundtrack of RagnaCenty has been in loop since yesterday and the 'Boss Battle' theme is crawling its way into my mind ...among the 3000 others songs I want or need to remix. Life's too short! Anyway, if you ever wanna collab on a tune from the game, hit me up. Nos vemos. -
Oh, the irony. Right after I've talked with SwordBreaker to help refocus his project, King Bahamut lauches Mega Flare and crashes the Highwind. Seriously though Wes, this actually surprised me since you were supportive of SBP at its inception. And DH was much more obscure than Baten Kaitos. That being said, I fully understand there's a world of difference between official projects and regular ones. Still, it's weird that you're recommending SwordBreaker stray away from his idea and opt for a "free-for-all" instead. I mean, cause the guidelines discourage making a collection of songs, in favor of coming up with a clearly defined concept. So unless there was a recent change of policy, this implies that projects about non-mainstream games shouldn't be attempted. Could you or someone from the staff shed some light on that sensible matter. That would be much appreciated.

Either the day has come for a Rockman EXE remix album, or it's finally time for the Grand NetNavi Remix Battle to begin.

wip Final Fantasy VI - Searching For Friends
Dj Mokram replied to Robotaki's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
^ This. ^ and very much this. Glaciers Never Sleep was also the stuff of legends. Here are the remixes in question for anyone wondering: Okami | Metroid Prime Now for the FFVI one... wow! Pretty inspiring stuff to say the least. Source is used plentifully and arranged in a nice and intricate way. Percussion work is up there, and the piece oozes with atmosphere. Absolutely loved the whole asian/ethnic vibe you've given to the original. This really sounds like a theme straight out of a japanese anime, or a badass adventure movie musha-shugyō style. And of course that wouldn't be one of your remixes without the abrupt-Robotaki-ending-that-leaves-you-begging-for-moar. Just hope you won't leave the OCR folks begging for 3 years this time. ;P Looking forward to all your awesome remixes being finished, subbed and posted. -
finished Crusader of Centy / Soleil - Overworld Map
Dj Mokram replied to Kumori's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
More Ragnacenty is always welcome. I remember that cool remix of Training Grounds you did a while back. This game's soundtrack has so much potential for remixing. I'll tackle that one someday for sure. This new mix of yours stays fairly true to , but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's more or less an upgrade of the original with updated textures and a few new twists thrown into the mix. Once again, you've really captured the feel of the game and the piece has this truly nostalgic flair to it. This is also slightly more upbeat and engrossing, though my only crit is that it could have been a bit longer. Thanks for sharing and I hope you'll do some more arrangement in the future. -
wip Parasite Eve: The Selfish Gene - collaboration requested :3
Dj Mokram replied to HoboKa's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Glad to see some love for Parasite Eve around these parts. Kyrie is undoubtely one of the hardest song to remix in the entire soundtrack. The melodic content is sparse since slow strings and operatic vowels carry all the emotion. Hewhoisiam already gave you some great feedback, so I'm just gonna add a few things. Mostly, the piece could really benefit from the inclusion of some percussive elements. And not necessarily in a traditional orchestral fashion but in a modern/cinematic way. There are some interesting ideas in this remix, but it's essentially still too monotonic atm. Adding up instruments as suggested will go a long way to reinforce the bulk of the soundscape. Some subtle background ambient sound effects would also give the overall sound a little more depth. Samples can always be replaced later, but I do feel the arrangement itself could be expanded and fleshed out. It's a promising start. Good luck with this one. -
[Paid] Music needed (RPG combat and exploration)
Dj Mokram replied to BrandonAlter's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
Judging from the game's website, it looks like a blend of RTS/T-RPG with space/sci-fi characters in a semi-medieval/fantasy setting. Sound-design is gonna be tricky on that one. Good luck to whoever will be scoring it. -
Here are two awesome Rockman Exe remixes by NintenJoe64: 3rd Strike (BN3) and Arrival of the Hero (BN6). Had plans to remix the for ages, but haven't found the time yet.Hopefully I'll get to it later this year (fingers crossed).

^ This. Seems too good to be true though. Quite a surprise nonetheless, even more so if this really gets ported. Oh, the joy of loosing all your hard-earned souls every 3 steps and braving dangers at a blazing 12fps. ;P

It's interesting how Downpour borrows from Alan Wake (setting, puzzles), which is paradoxical since Alan Wake originally draws heavily from Silent Hill. What genuinely worries me is the inability of japanese devs to keep their franchise alive without having to capitulate to the peer pressure of western trends. Konami seemingly lost their way with SH (Book of Memories anyone?) and focused with Downpour on recapturing market shares from Remedy's title. When instead, they could have used that opportunity to redefine survival-horror through their cult franchise which, sadly, had been stagnating for years. Creative teams now leave franchises in the hands of foreign studios, like Slant6Games for RE Operation Raccoon Failure and Vatra for SH Downward. Both games look dated, have clunky as fuck gameplay and try to be something they're not in order to please everybody but longtime fans. Though many fans loathe it, the last real game imho was Zero/Origins. Climax Studios deserve kudos for bringing to life SH on the PSP. Shattered Memories was more of its own entity, being a reboot and all. Played as a new IP, it's actually quite enjoyable in itself. Homecoming turned you into Nathan Drake, dumbing down the challenge and scare factor. Not bad for a TPA-S, but terrible for a SH. Silent Hill used to be a scary and disturbing game with a compelling story that made you feel as uneasy as it kept you engaged. All that while you thrived to survive and unravel the mysteries of that foggy place from which no soul ever comes back. That's proly why Konami brought SH2 and 3 back from the abyss, to remind the new generation that Silent Hill used to be good.

Yeah. Definitely wouldn't call a five parts role-playing saga which has seen a number of ports over the years obscure. Treasure Hunter G, Rudras no Hihou, Landstalker, Feda, Light Crusader, Ogre Battle 64, Baten Kaitos, and such can be considered obscure. Breath of Fire is a moderately successful RPG franchise, much like Fire Emblem, Suikoden or Disgaea. It's simply not Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. The reason why BoF is still deemed obscure here despite having 8 ReMixes, is because OCR is generally mainstream-focused. Making albums for less popular games requires serious credentials and tremendous perseverance, even more so for newcomers. I find it a bit sad that there isn't a consensus in place as part of OCR's mission to specifically help promote lesser known games. If the big artists were to lend support to the more audacious projects, that'd be a great way to honor not just the popular tunes, but the VGM as a whole. Although this proly won't happen anytime soon, I'm truly hoping this can be achieved someday.

The PCReMix Initiative ~ Let's put the PC in OC ReMix!
Dj Mokram replied to Archangel's topic in ReMix Requests
You're absolutely right. Flashback hit the Amiga first in 1992, then the MS-DOS one year later, in 1993. But technically it's still eligible for the Initiative, since it saw a proper release on the system. Maybe Archangel can chime in on whether ports are allowed or discouraged all together. -

If I'm not mistaken, a Rocket Knight project was started in R&C not long ago. Edit: here's the project's thread. Not sure if this is still active though...
